I'm not offended. I'm rarely offended by that kind of stuff anyway. It's funny. I do think that people who are offended by things like this need to lighten up. A LOT. Why do black people take every little thing "white people" do as a reason to get up in arms but still watch the videos and listen to the songs on BET like that shit is gravy?
I guess I need to hang with more black people? Me and my friends aren't up in arms over too much. But we all agree that a lot of BET videos are bad representations - period. And, again, Flava Flav makes me ill. He goes against everything Public Enemy stands for. It's crazy.

I think it's pretty funny because it's so ridiculous. I apparently went on & on about it at a friend's beer pong party a few weeks ago when I was drinking and didn't even remember mentioning it until they later brought it up.

I wasn't refering to anyone in particular, I was just speaking in general. But I agree. BET and Flava Flav are not really good for our image or our esteem, self and otherwise. But that character Robert Downey, Jr. plays is funny!

So inTropic Thunder, the new Ben Stiller movie coming out.... Robert Downey Jr. is in blackface. Does no one else find that offensive? I saw it in the trailer a week ago and have heard no mention of it in the mainstream media until today on AOL.
Sorry but I fail to see how RDJ was offensive, but the Wayan's brother's weren't.
Also that is not actually "blackface", Ted Danson did blackface once.

true, he's just an actor, playing a white guy, playing a black guy. it's not true "blackface" as ted danson did. but even then, it was done in satire, and whoopi defended him for it, pretty much telling people to relax.
this is no different than black guys playing white guys, white guys playing mexicans, mexicans playing american indians, and so forth.
people in general need to relax. it's like people are looking for something to get offended by.
plus, by protesting, it just drums up free publicity for whatever they're protesting, peeking curiosity in many, who go to see the movie, which makes the movie money. don't protesters get that?

I dont really find it offensive, i dont think its supposed to be racist just kinda silly and far fetched like some big shot actor who really gets into the role does this. I think its more of a piss take at the whole actors gettin role thing. I happen to love RDJ too!

I guess, though I disagree about Bamboozled not being a comedy. I would definitely put it in the (satirical, dry) comedy section.
The point about Blazing Saddles is a good one. Americans have lost their brains, their sense of humor, and all sense of irony. Nobody understands a subtle dig anymore and everyone takes things so seriously. People need to chill out and just laugh once in awhile - and at something a little more thought-provoking than "Ow, My Balls."
I haven't read all the way through this yet, but I had to say, I 100% agree with this.
Witty, thought out humor has all but vanished. Being able to laugh at ourselves as well. I can't stand the mind-numbing humor that simply "entertains the savages".

I saw it tonight and I loved it but I think the audience had mixed feelings. I expected it to be a satire about Hollywood disguised as an action movie. I think they took it as a satire of an action movie...period. So I got what I wanted but they got half a movie. And Tom Cruise should NEVER do the smarmy rap dance again! :rotfl:

If you're offended, don't pay to see the movie. Thats why the United States is better than China or other countries where the government tells you what you can and can't do, watch, read etc. We do have shortcomings, but its one of the best.

I don't get very offended by racial things for some reason. So no, I'm not offended in the slightest.

The movie was a riot. But I love comedy and here is why...
For all of life's seriousness, in a way it is also completely silly and pointless. Being able to stand back, see it from a 3rd person point of view, and view it all as a pointless comedy is not only a wonderful relief from day to day life, it may help give us a new perspective too.

I was offended by White Chicks. I can't say what specifically offended me becuase I don't remember but it did.
Bamboozled. We watched that in 10th grade and it was one of the best movies we watched all year. My school was 1/3 black 1/3 hispanic and the rest asian and white and not one of us found it offensive because it was so fucked up, ahah. It was great.
I haven't heard of these other movies though
