Harsh first (hey, it's me after all): you had no business having a kid in your teens.
But you do, so...
You are NOT worthless. Your kid needs a good mommy and you seem to want to overcome your temporary rotten circumstances. Government programs are meant to be temporary solutions to this kind of thing.
Look at ads on Craigslist or put one up yourself.
Maybe you can share a place with another single mom in a tough spot and swap babysitting duties until you get more stable?
You can transcend this. It won't be easy, but if not for you, do it for your child.
A lot of woman don't have business having children at all.
But I did. And, having a child wasn't what I was "complaining" about. I'm not in this situation because I had a child at 18, I'm in this situation primarily because of domestic violence.
I understand that the responsibilty of my son's safety & health, is also a big factor, but even if I was 30 years old going through this ordeal, I'd still have a child to take care of.
