you've seen my pics ibi. i dress nicely when i go. one club won't even let me talk to the manager. just takes my application at the door. and i hate, hate to do this, but it is the race thing. other girls have gone, i just found out, and started work that night. they were white. i'm willing to bet my life if a white girl goes next week they'd start working.

Why? Not everyone is cut out for stripping.
yeah. everyone is not cut out for stripping when the clubs have exceeded their black girl quoata

well from your pics you looked like you could use a bit of toning up.
i say suck it up if your worried about the race card not give a shit about how you dance and go work for a black club. if they dont hire you you cant blame it on race there at least.

oh trust, they've been asking me to come. tone up? for god's sake i'm 105 pounds.

well, you can do two things.
1. Find another club.
2. Get your ass to the gym, the hair salon, the makeup artist, etc and be one of those black girls.
You can blame the clubs, but have you ever considered the possibility that it's not about race?
I saw your thread on the blue. Not one of them said he'd buy a dance from you. Clubs with high earning potential can be picky because lots of hot chicks want to work there, and they don't want to hire girls that can't sell dances, black, white, purple, or green!

and remember that most of them said they prefer another type of girl which specifically had nothing to do with me. i.e. the ones who said they like tar black girls. and again gym? anybody who tries to lose weight at 105 is sick.

theres a big difference between toning up and losing weight. the hair and outfit were not flattering either.

Oh, I realize there is racism in strip clubs. I work in South Philly.
But I also know there are dancers in this business that could stand a good hard look in the mirror before pointing the finger at someone else as to why the can't make money.

I haven't seen a body pic, but you are cute, have you ever thought about wearing your hair longer, and doing more dramatic makeup- smoky dark eyes, and a pale nude gloss, I'm black and that is the look that I've always gone for, and it ahs always worked, also do u have a body pic.

and so were the other two girls out of shape too? only i can account for them. but i can say that the dude wrote down our lil "scores" on the applications. Me and this other girl got a nine, I stood aside from the two other girls who appeared to be together, but he took theirs first and the girl asked what did the nine mean and he flat out told her. the other girl got a 6...

i do the smoky eyes. and a sheer gloss most time. I like purple for some reason so i do a lil purple smoky eye. I can't have my hair longer cuz i have a natural, that is a wig. i do have a pic of me with longer hair....but i don't like it. here's this million year old pic

^^^you look really pretty in that pic, I'd try with longer hair (when you can get around to buying a new wig), and if he gave you a nine, I don't know why u didn't get hired, but I have heard before that Memphis is REALLY racist. Maybe try the black clubs, and see if you can save enough money to travel. I've worked at black clubs before, and I'm pretty thin and can't shake it, but try for the older more professional black guys, they usually have more to spend, and they don't usually care if you can't shake it that well.

having seen your pics, you are pretty. the long straight hair works better for.
i have worked with girls not half as small or as confident and they make money.
tearing down another dancer's self esteem when she is already feeling pretty unwanted isn't helping her any. in fact if it were me, i'd be bawling by now over some of the things that have been said to giggles.
and yes clubs down our way are that racist.
the club i just left has a no more than 4 black girls on the floor at any time. they also charge them more to come to work, and even more if they take a weekend off.
memphis, and Jackson are racist as hell. the pony is as rascist as she is telling you. I worked there briefly and got fed up with it. they also jack the cover up for black men to try to discourage them from coming in. the clubs she is trying to avoid are all over on Brooks road. which by the way is notorious for car jackings, muggings, assaults....prostitution. the clubs she is trying to avoid get busted a lot.
I personally think she is smart for not wanting to be classified by her race, to be classified as a woman of color that is attractive and better than the lowest possible club and to avoid working in some real shitholes.
giggles....keep your chin up sweetie, just keep trying. and please be safe.

Go with the straight hair. Toning up doesn't mean you will lose weight but you will look lean and nice. Wear a short skirt and when he tells you he will review it drop your purse or something and expose your ass :D

No one's telling you to lose weight; you're being told to tone up. There's a huge difference.

Okay, this is meant to be helpful.. not bitchy at all.
I will start by saying that I sincerely am sorry that you're having as much trouble as you are having. I really hate it that race can still play a factor sometimes.
As for looks, if the picture of you in the gold swimsuit is the most recent I *really* think you still need to tone up. That is not toned. Focus on weight training.. lighter weight and more reps. You don't even need to go to the gym to do that, I've got tons of suggestions on how to work out at home..
As for losing weight, working out doesn't make you lose weight if that's not what you want to do. I'm 5'6.. I was about 112 and have been doing light exercises as mentioned above to tone up. I've GAINED 5 lbs. of muscle. It's simple, basic exercises and I already look and feel much better.
As for hair, I would definetely go with the long and straight. I won't add much else in the hair department because I don't know much about African American hair.
I think you also need to change up the clothes you wear to the auditions as well. Jean shorts= no no. Wear a sexy top, some nice sexy jeans and stilettos. Or, wear a nice, short, sexy dress. Think of it as dressing "professional bt slutty" if that makes sense?
I know it seems like the odds are against you, but I've been dancing for 5 years.. I think I'm more than qualified to give advice on the matter. I've danced in several clubs and have NEVER auditioned.. I've just walked in and gotten hired in my street clothes.
I do want to add that you have confidence which is wonderful but please don't let that confidence keep you from making changes and taking some of the advice that has been offered. I wish you the best of luck and this post isn't meant to tear you down or be mean whatsoever, I'm really just trying to be helpful.

HG - the first time I was rejected from a club I was like "why?" I mean, I didn't think the other girls there were so much better than me and I couldn't get for the life of me why they thought the mere sight of me would pollute the club for the customers. And yes, it is better, at least from terms of time management if they just directly tell you "no, we're not interested." But they don't, and sometimes a club owner's/manager's evaluation of you will differ from your evaluation of yourself. And yes - there is frequently a "quota" for black girls, and black girls have to be prettier, thinner and better. This is, unfortunately, a part of the business and unlikely to change. Getting along in this business at this point in time means, unfortunately, sucking up injustices, finding a place you can work and making money there. If you can't do that - and it sounds like you are finding that challenging - it might mean that it is time to consider something else. Like Emily said - not everyone is cut out for this job; it is a very particular kind of sales. You are not a bad or inferior person if you can't make money as a stripper, but there is no point in sticking to the industry out of sheer stubbornness. You are in an urban environment. A skilled, but entry level secretary makes more money than you are right now. A data entry clerk makes almost as much. Other bar staff - waitresses, even coat check can make your average.

Maybe when u try a new club embellish your experience. Let them know uhave a lot of experience as a dancer and are great at it. apperantly at memphis club u will need to sell yourself to the hiring manager just as hard as the customers. Go in there with a happy and giggles attitude with a professional dress and stripper makeup. Tell them u are from nashville and have been a dancer but just got into town maybe? Make his work cut out for him, volunteer to go onstage asap or take a slower shift to start? And lots of clubs 4'11 105lbs inst one of the tightest. Ive worked at many clubs where average is 5'5 105 lbs of muscle. If u dont have a good hustle all the money is in your appearance and every stripper has room for improvement. The girls on here arent attacking u but u might need to make a few changes to get hired right? why ask 4 advice if u arent willing to take it???????

while this may be true, i feel the only change that needs to be made for that club is the color of my skin. there's nothing you can do when one manager at one club says, "don't send anymore black girls to me" and the other one has met its black girl quota. and i don't take it as people attacking me except for one poster. i can respect people's opinions but when you have one person who never has anything positive to say about your posts......5'5 and 105? even if it's muscle, it's genetically impossible for me:O . anywho, the happy and giggles attitude is classic, long story how i got that name, but it does involve lots of my giggling.

Well shit 80 is even better! You can do this!!
When I need to make money I find it more motivational (not really the word im looking for, but keeps me happy) to schedule the SURE money like an hour or two after you get on the floor. I allot that time as just watching the stage shows and let guys come to me, or i'll go ask guys for drinks but it's really me time. Usually I get a couple of dances (the guys bring them up) and I just say sure and do them. It's like unexpected money because I'm not trying to get any dances at all. Then go do the foot thing then be pumped thinking about how you made some money when you weren't even trying earlier and then the foot money, just think how much you can make if you actually try!
I know that in the real world, how well you did earlier has nothing to do with whatever you happen to make later but it keeps up my moral and at least makes me feel happy to be there.
