View Full Version : Changing in front of others

The bottom line about drug addicts and users is if they want to do drugs, they will find a way whether or not there are doors on the bathroom stalls. I agree with Jenny that the whole setup is humiliating. I've worked in a club like this, and tried not to let it bother me that there were 15 other girls crammed in the bathroom doing their makeup and hair with me while I was peeing. There was a main changing area where most girls stored their stuff and changed outfits. Then there were two bathrooms with doors, but one toilet in each. If I had to change a tampon, I'd wait the several minutes or so until there was no one in there and lock the door. I'm not shy about pee. But I can't imagine what I'd do if I had to poo at work. I think I used the male employees' bathroom in the building next door a few times when I wanted privacy.
I don't think anyone should have to do that though. If you don't want drugs being done in your club, don't hire strippers.
heh, I should mention that the bathroom and DR area, where girls are actually changing and doing makeup, are a good 20 feet apart. You don't walk into the area where the bathrooms are unless you are going to the bathroom. Our DR is HUGE, with a capital H. It's bigger than my apartment - bigger than most public bathrooms, and similar in size to the entire first floor of my parents house, so if you are going to the bathroom, you are pretty much by yourself, so you don't have to worry about rubbing knees with anyone. We have one toliet for peeing and the other for pooping, cause the toliets are seperated by a thin wall partition, which gives the pooping toliet some privacy. also, if a girl wants to use drugs, she will probably go to one of the other clubs. Our manager does NOT let anyone get away with drugs, and we do have a reputation around town as the drug-free club. Even the custies are aware of that.
...just random, but it feels weird to have to defend the DR toilet. I'm defending a toilet, haha. Usually I defend my friends and such...I wonder what this says about my personality. haha.

are you talking about odyssey?? I thought it was so weird when i walked in there... no door on the bathroom or stalls, just two toilets RIGHT NEXT to eachother... I peed right next to another girl. haha.
yep.
for a while, this club also had the shower closed off, because girls would go into the hidden area to do drugs, usually with another girl standing guard. they also bring drug dogs in now and again.
i don't think they really care what we do. smart owners/managers keep their clubs clean. or at least try to cover their asses. that way, if something happens, the girl gets in trouble, not the club.

Leona - it's okay if you like your club. But take a look at prison experiments. Depriving people of that type of privacy is - absolutely, positively, no question - a method of depriving people of dignity. While people of certain ages and in certain parts of the world view group bathroom behaviour as perfectly normal, most people over the toilet training age in the developed world view it as extremely private, intimate behaviour. I mean, there is a reason you would never, never find anything like that in any other work establishment.
I approve of keeping drugs under control in clubs - although I think if drug use is that much of a problem it speaks more to the environment that is attracting so many addicts, not bathroom stalls - but if you cannot control drug use through some other means, particularly in an industry with zero job security, then these means are just punitive.

Or doormen or bartenders or waitresses or managers. I think, along with strippers, this represents the cross-section of folks at my club who've gotten in trouble for doing drugs at work.

the doormen at my club are more likely fucked up on something then the dancers...

I guess a big thing is just the area of the world I live in. Hawaii is THE mixing pot of the world. That is both a blessing and a curse, as people import their cultures to Hawaii without so much of a care to the law.
Example: A few months ago, a Filipino guy was arrested for killing and eating a dog, however, he was released because he was unaware that in American society, eating a dog is considered animal abuse. In his culture, dog meat is a delicacy, and he thought nothing of it.
Same goes for drug use. People come from all over the world, and bring their drugs without a care to what American law dictates. Ever seen Dog The Bounty Hunter (who, BTW, is a real jackass in real life)? The abundance of drug users on his show are no exaggeration. Crystal Meth is so commonplace that I would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't come in contact with a user or dealer.
Marijuana, although not as deadly as Crystal meth, is even more common place. Joints are smoked on a regular basis. People go out for a cigerette break and smoke a joint, instead. My day job is as a floor manager for a local company out here. A lot of my employees smoke weed - so much that, if I were to fire all those that I caught smoking pot, I would be in deep trouble, since I would have maybe one or two employees left out of a roster of thirty or so.
The open bathroom policy in my club is not so much a degradation as it is a safety measure for the managers AND the girls. If we ever get a drug bust, the managers asses are covered, as are the girls on camera in the DR. It makes me feel safe, as do most of the other girls (although I can not speak for everyone). It gives us a way to defend ourselves, in case we ARE accused of trafficking in the club. The good news is, that with such strong policies, we are at a low risk of being raided by the police. The bad news is that we ARE a strip club, and, as such, comes the stereotype that we DO use drugs and traffick them too. A raid is not far in the future, and so the open bathroom and camera is there for my safety, to cover my ass, if - or rather, when - the raid occurs.
FYI: I took two bathroom breaks while writing this schpiel, all of which I closed the door, even though I'm the only one home at the moment, so I do see and use the comfort of the closed door.
sorry for the length!

You're right! I also forgot to add customers.
