On Iraq I have heard her have all of two whole opinions. One that she isn't all that interested and the second was that the war is the command of God. On Israel and Iran I have heard nada from her; probably because she isn't all that interested in things outside Alaska to begin with and therefore not very knowledgeable about those matters. That may also be why she just got her first passport LAST YEAR. It’s kind of sad to know that a potential VP has seen and knows less of the world than me or even my 12 year old niece.

I really enjoy your posts...

I think Palin provides a big bump for the ticket tonight. She's very telegenic, and from her time as a news sportscaster is comfortable in front of a camera and familiar with a teleprompter. People will respond.

The test will be when the GOP decides to make her available for 1 on 1 interviews to the media. I'm thinking they hope Hannah delivers where Gustav failed.

ETA; for clarification I mean that as a distraction for media and public focus.

Two conservative commentators on MSNBC say what they really think about Palin as VP after they thought their mics were off. a story on it as well.

LMFAO! Finally some conservatives being honest about how what stupid stunt it was to choose Palin.

She is not impressing me...you can totally tell she is reading from a teleprompter though.

Thanks....I do find it funny that all these people think McCain and Palin are all the sudden going to become "mavericks" and do things differently...John McCain has had 20+ years to help slove the energy problem and he has not done it.

Yeah, she can read from a teleprompter. Big deal. She's also got that vacant "I need a teleprompter because I have no idea what's going on here" look down pat as well...

I'm frustrated at my state....I feel that the only reason the majority of AZ will vote for him is because he's already our Senator. Like they feel they don't even need to do any research.

John McCain was the DECIDING vote for the Employment NON DISCRIMINATION Act that would protect people in the workplace....maverick or bigot?

Not only that but they have not one idea or policy plan on ANYTHING that differs from the current republicans status quo which clearly isn't working. In fact it's been making things worse in this country and around the world. Whatever "maverick" they may have once had in them was checked at the door of the national GOP office.

Everyone LOVES to paint John McCain as a war hero...and that is deserved.

The first person wounded in the Iraq War was gay. Over 12,000 people serving our country and been discharged for being gay. John McCain has voted to keep Don't Ask Don't tell 3 times.....Maverick or Bigot to those military heros?

LOL! about as much as being in a beauty pageant. Opps, I forgot that is a major part of her resume too ;) So funny that the camera keeps showing the prompter too. Never have I seen that before, guess it wasn't such a good idea to piss on the media this entire convention.

"I have been hoping beyond hope she would be in this position," said Stokes, an Alabama delegate. "She is the best thing going. She is pro-family, pro-life."

His wife, Martha, added: "Alaska is a state very, very close to Russia. That gives her foreign policy experience." The Stokes said they were disappointed in media coverage of her candidacy and were confident that the country would see her virtues when she addressed a national audience.

so technically we are near canada, so that gives me foreign policy experince, as well as my cruises to the carribean....

Sarah Palin was going to SUE the interior department because they wanted the polar bear to be listed as threatened.

Sarah Palin spent 400,000 to promote the aerial hunting of alaskan wildlife....horrible way to die...its hardly ever a clean kill and for trophies.

Sarah Palin opposed a statewide ballot initiative to prohibit or restrict new mining operations that could affect salmon in the state's streams and rivers.

Sarah Palin does not believe we are contributing to climate change in any way.

Now she is on tv giving a speech about windmills and environment....such utter BS...

OMG I had the same feeling that she's a natural smart-ass. She has a snide delivery that works if you are very intelligent and can modulate it with kindness. She just comes off as a silly snarky lightweight. Because of his age we're forced to look at her as the next potential president and instead of speaking to her weaknesses she tried to go attack dog. Lame.

so apparently republican think foreign policy/experince can be transmitted like a disease, just like the way they think being gay/lesbian is transmitted like a disease (and they can cure that btw ::) )

Just re-read the text of her speech on line......all hype, no substance.......

also, as noted by Sam Donaldson (i'm making the same head movements Sam makes when I type that), being a war hero doesn't do anything for the election.

Look at the following:

Kerry: Vietnam
Bush: Dodger
Clinton: Dodger
Bush Sr: WWII (however he won on reagan)
Reagan: none

as Donaldson put it, people are looking to the future, not the past.

That WIC check is being cut as we speak! $10 bucks says those kooky kids NEVER make it to the altar. Her mother will say and do whatever to get elected. She's done it in her mayoral and gubernatorial runs and she's doing it now. So when her dropout baby daddy gets back to slacking Bristol will get the help she's "entitled" to.

My $10 bucks says he runs off, period. As I understand it he didn't even want the kid and I'm betting he sure didn’t want to be forced into the public spotlight by a politically ambitious woman like Palin. What do you think the odds are he is REALLY wishing he had used a condom. I doubt this is what he thought he was signing up for when getting his groove on.

And by that rational... a group of 90+% black people representing the "typical" democrap voter and/or NObama supporters should get out also?I didn't see that at the DNC. But I already said I thought the representation was out of whack when it came to unions.

I think unions are to the Democrats what the religious right is to the Republicans: A noisy non-oppressed minority group with far too much ability to get appeasement from their patrons.

I was disappointed with Gov. Palin's speech.

Nice to see we can agree on something. In all honesty neither the Democraps or Repugnantcans appeal or entirely mirror my beliefs, with all the smart people on this board we should make our own third party}:D . Too bad I hate politics.

I don't know how she'll do on debating Sen. Biden. I'm more comfortable analyzing what's gone on than prognosticating what might be.

I was disappointed because she turned to cheap insults. Yeah, each party attacks each other. But Sen. Obama (unlike others in this thread, no offense) did not say "anti-gay, anti-rights, religious nuts." Gov. Palin, on the other hand went hard after the straw men. And the stuff about "they used Greek columns," and implying that Sen. Obama is applying for divine status. I heard his speech, and that's another straw man.

I heard more platitudes to please the crowd than substance to sway me.

historically, she tore up Frank Murkowski fairly well in an Alaskan debate ... and he was a US senator with 22 years experience in Washington ...
