If you are wearing a good sports bra why would it damage your boobs? I think we can protect our knees by wearing good sneakers and jumping on a padded surface.

They look weird to me but I can't really place why. Maybe it's the sheen, so I'd be awkward just to wear the bra to run...I dunno. Is it just the way they are pictured? What color did you get?

And how hot you are!!!

Curious, how long/often do you jump rope? I so wanna buy a jump rope now!

Thank you:P

I have done it for as long as 45 mins. This is with stopping in during that time, and starting over quickly.

I had a trainer that had me doing 20 mins., before breakfast, four times a week.

Now it varies. Sometimes I will do it twice a week, sometimes three. I do it from 15 mins. to a 1/2 hour.

Your siggy is the best. LMFAO :D Girl, don't get me started on that bs we had to witness last night.

I dunno I guess it would be weird looking to some. But you have to remember that bigger boobs need more comfort. The enell bras are "thicker" looking than most traditional sports bras because they are using more material to "hold the girls down" :D Plus, I like the fact that there are extra large bra straps and it holds the breast down close to the body.

When I used to workout, I'd wear a bra and 2 sports bras and I'd still have some jiggle. Now I can workout w/o having my boobies hurt in the process.

Ack-my ankles are swollen! I hope it's not JUST the jumping. I'm not going to jump in my room AT ALL anymore (basement, concrete floor under the carpeting) I was jumping on my yoga mat, but that's just not enough padding I guess.

In good news, since the boy has left (he of the fried food and TGIF desserts) I've lost weight/toned up! I almost never weigh myself but I can tell-my jeans are looser, there's more definition between my butt and thigh and my knees are starting to lose the tree trunk look. It's only been three weeks and a week or so of jumping, so I hope it keeps going!

I am going to buy a jump rope and a good sports bra today and start jumping! However i don't know where else to jump except the sidewalk/concrete. I could try going to the park to jump on grass, but I have to drive there and everyday is not feasible.

Where are you girls jumping?
Jump in the parking lot @ your complex. That has better "cushion" than concrete. Concrete is really hard on your joints.

I think I'm going to start jumping in my front room if the dog will stop barking when I do it. I don't really want to jump out front where the landlord and everyone can see me. Maybe the backyard if I can avoid dog areas?

Jeez! I am impressed. Curious question. Did jumping that much make your calves bigger? I have naturally dense muscle and larger calves to begin with and really don’t want to end up with cankles. I’m REALLY feeling it in my calves and not much anywhere else and this is making me worried.

^^I used to jump rope as part of my cardio routine and have the same big leg issue. It really seemed to make the muscle more defined but didn't bulk my legs up. My ankles actually thinned out, as did all the areas carrying excess fat. You don't have much muscle that low on your leg, so it would be really difficult to bulk up that area. I was running 6 miles a morning at the time and doing another 30-45 min on the stairmaster at night, I just used the jumping to warm up at work (my boss was going through menopause), did 5-10 min at a time 4 or 5 times a day, so I'm not sure if that made a difference.

Hey thanks for the reply Jasmine. My other exercise routine includes Pilates, Yoga and regular advanced level pole workouts so I’m not doing much other cardio like you but I hope I still have similar results.

My legs look pretty good in heels but in flats my lower legs tend to look a little beefed up from years of dance and gymnastics as a kid. I’d really like to get my shape to my lower leg area and smaller looking ankles would certainly do the trick I think!

By the way, today I did my jumping in skipping style rather than the two foot single jump way and my calves feel better. My rhythm was better too so I got more rotations in before getting tripped up.

What do you experienced jumpers think about using the skip style instead? It’s a bit more like running than jumping up and down. How will that change the results if any as compared to the ankles together way?

When I used to do jumping rope religiously when doing my takewando training, they made us do the skipping style of jump. 30 seconds slow skipping, 30 seconds fast skipping for 3 minutes. This then increased to 5 minutes ... uninterrupted.

If you tripped up, you kept going.

I prefer the skipping style personally. Jumping rope is something I must get back into more often since the weather is warming up again (just like I'm getting back into hula hooping).

Just bought a rope today. I'm going to double spots bra it tomorrow, and I'm sure I'll be on my way to a much fitter me. My friend who is a trainer that does bootcamp style workouts, as well as others I know, swear it's the best workout.

I will update with my progress.

Bandwagon jumper here!

I happened across some jump ropes at Marshall's this morning and started thinking about this thread! It was expensive ($9.99) but is pro. It's a leather rope, adjustable length, foam gripped 1/2 lb each handle.

I start tomorrow. Too crazed today.

Thanks for the inspiration ladies!!

So fun that alot of us are picking up this old childhood hobby for excercise! It's like a little club or something, LOL! Yeah, I know I'm corny :)

Get a good pair of shoes if you have to do so on concrete. Only jump rope bare foot-ed on soil/ground/grass.

Another child hood 'thing' to do that is great exercise is hula hooping ;)

So now that the weather is better (yay for Spring!).. I'm starting to get back into both jump rope-ing and hula hooping :)

Yeah, I only have regular sneakers, I think I needed running shoes. I'm letting my ankles heal up and I'm going to head outside and jump on the lawn as silly as that will look.

i don't know why, but i hate jumping rope. i was so good at it in elementary school, but now it's just so uninteresting.

^^Yeah, I heard the trampoline is really good for blasting cellulite. I am so trying this jump rope thing. Ever since I quit dancing 6 months ago my thighs and butt have been getting cellulite and I have love handles. Man, you never know how good of a workout your legs and ass get as a stripper till you stop stripping. What does the hula hoop do? Defines your stomach? I need some help with the love handles area. Would the hula hoop help for that?

For those of you who have been jumping rope, have you seen any difference in your arms? I hate my arms and I hate lifting weights.

This thread inspired me to bust my jumprope out, and by golly, I did 300 jumps my first day! I thought it would be hard to get back into, but I'm actually better at it now than when I was a kid! I used to jump rope every night back in the day, it's such a good workout! I had a tight little butt from it, too, haha.

Thanks for the idea, ladies!

I've slacked off tremendously from my workout regime. I've been eating everything under the moon and I'm not happy about it either. But damn, sometimes, it just tastes sooooooo good. lol

I have 16 days to lose the 5lbs I've prob put on, so I plan to get up every morn and jump rope. I figure if I do 10 sets of 100 jumps a day plus doing some tricep dips and arm curls I could lose that 5lbs. Oh yea, I know, I know.... I need to monitor my eating.

So...I will drink my protein shakes for breakfast that I make with lots of fruit and get back to eating small tiny meals every two hours.

I'll let you all know my progress if I can keep up with it.
