Good for you for being brave enough to call 911 - I am glad to hear you are okay. ((hugs))

That's terrifying. I second or third or whatever the gun. Guns are safe in the hands of responsible owners. It is a myth that they are likely to be used against you by attackers.
I hate Florida, too. I don't think you could pay me to live there. I think this is a sign that it's time to move on!

I have to add +1 to the gun idea, too. Get one, learn how to use it... WELL.

Another vote. Situations like these (as well as some others) are what got me into Pink Pistols.
I'm so happy you are safe. I felt my blood go cold when you wrote what the guy had on him.

Unfortunate, but guns are a necessary evil. I agree. Time to think about having one in the house (pay a little extra for the training too of course and spend some time at the shooting range using it).

Cats are ok. If their ears prick and then relax - it's nothing. If they keep listening - you got somethin' in your yard. If they run to the window - there is another CAT (gasp!!) in your yard.
Admittedly my 'training' is geared for home invasions. I don't want them to know that I know they are there. I want to be disappearing over the back fence in sneakers and a nighty with a kitty under each arm while I'm calling for reinforcements to come and ambush those dumb motherfuckers... (muhahahaha) But that's just me :)
Sounds to me like he was trying to make the neighborhood look unsafe - so his ex-wife would 'need' him. Crazy asshole. I hope they kick the holy bejesus fuck out of him!!
:) And big dogs aren't scary!! Treat them kindly and train them beautifully and they'll just grow into big obedient, trustworthy sooks!

Do you have a fence around your house? If not, I recommend that you fence in your yard and rescue a pit bull or two and have them sleep outside for awhile. Have dog houses, of course, but your area is temperate enough to have outside dogs probably 10 months of the year.
I totally 110% disagree with the outdoor APBT thing for the dogs safety and her's.
APBT's are the #1 dog to be stolen and abused, being outside will only attrach the wrong element to her home so they can potentially steal her dogs, which is easy since they are natural love bug cuddle bears, lol.
But then again I am one of those people that believe that dogs should only live outside if they have a job outside (actual sheep dog, farm dog, etc...), otherwise they need to sleep in your home with the rest of the family.
Be safe punkin, and a dog would be a great idea, a rotten, a dobe, or a GSD are all 3 notorious for their "bad boy" reputation, and are all natural guard dogs and will not hesitate to die for their owners if need be. (not to say all will, but the majority will since it is bred into their genetics, also not to say that they are the only breed that will, since any bred can and will defend their owner to their death.)

Good suggestions, I vote German Shepherd.
And Beretta or Glock. It's actually a lot of fun to learn how to shoot straight & you can find someone to buddy up for shooting range visits.
PM if you want to, sweety. I saw this and felt terrible.

I agree with the handgun as well.
My personal choice is a .45 ACP 1911; but it's cause I just don't trust a gun I can put in the dishwasher, lol!

I'm no expert, which is why I said "you should get something like..." She should talk to a dog expert if she does want a protection dog or guard dog. She lives in Daytona, it's very temperate there. And I think her life is worth more than the comfort of a dog. I think a human being's life is far more important than a dog sleeping inside.

I knew this was going to be an issue when he got out of jail. It is totally the suck, but even if he's prosecuted and found guilty they probably can't put him away for very long.
But the good thing is, at least you know his name. If I were you I would find out where he works, who his family is, where he lives. Make sure if anything happens to you, your friends and family KNOW who he is and where to find him...
I once read a book written by a retired police officer. He dealt with stalkers for years. Some went on to assault their victims and some didn't. Unfortunatley you can't prosecute someone for a crime they have not yet committed.
Then one day some guy starts stalking his teenage daughter. He tried everything legal to get the guy to leave her alone, but dude would show up on their family vacations, by their house, at her school, etc. Obviously malicious intent, but nothing the law could prosecute. Finally, he found the guy, put his gun in his face, and told him if he didn't leave his daughter alone he was going to kill him. That was the only thing that stopped it.
Honestly, I don't think this guy is going to bother you anymore because now you know who he is. He's just going to move on to somebody else. But if you're worried maybe you have a brother or an uncle or something that could have a talk with him.
Oh, and for legal purposes- the less you know, the better.

I wasn't bitching at you hun. I was trying to tell you that pit bull's are NOT good guard dogs at all. They are people lovers, and they were considered the "nanny dogs" back when out great grandparents were young. Hell, Petey from the Lil Rascals was a pittie, and they never had one instance of him being aggressive on or off set.
What I also said about rottens, dobes, and GSD's is because they are/were bred to guard/protect. Just like border collies are bred to herd, and coonhounds are bred to sniff out/tree, and Nova Scotia Duck Trolling dogs are bred to hunt/retrieve water fowl.
If you also notice, I said it was a bad idea since she lives in the South and they are notorious for pit fighting, and the people that fight dogs are NOT the ones you want within 100 miles of your neighbourhood. So why encourage them to come to your neighbourhood by having the very dogs they want, just lying around your back yard? It's basically an invitation for trouble.
Not to mention that outdoor dogs are at a higher risk for being poisoned, shot, stabbed, killing themselves, being hit by cars, stolen, harassed by children, hurt by wild animals, hurt by neighbours since they won't "shut up", etc...
Seriously, what's the dog going to do in the backyard if someone comes through the FRONT door?

Ha. People are like get a gun. Get a dog. All good ideas, but somebody should just beat the mf living shit out of him with a baseball bat. He deserves it because he was planning to HARM YOU. I'd rather see a guy like him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life than let him hurt an innocent person. Just my HO. <shrug>

Not to mention he could take away the bat and bludgeon you with it, or block the hit with his shoulder and stab you before you knew it.
I don't take chances, I don't want some creep like that within arm's reach of me.
As long as they are inside my home when the cops show up, it's home/self defense and not tried as murder; and is justified in my area. We have a 'stand your ground' law much like Florida does, and you can NOT be charged with anything if they are breaking into your home or car, or threatening you in public to the point your life is threatened.

^ where I live, the system is so fucked. If someone breaks in your house and you shoot them and they live, they can lie about what they were doing there and YOU go to jail - GUARANTEED. So it's common knowledge here that if someone breaks in your house, you had better be ready to kill them.

I agree. I dont have a weird feeling even..I think he has alot to lose(2 homes, a business, 2 kids who he does NOT want to move cause of the ex wife situation) and they said he looked shaken up. Im just glad this is all documented just in case something does ever happen to me.

Still, people crack even when they have a lot to lose. I'd still beef up your SS, place one of those SS signs in a VERY obvious area of your yard, and put up a "Beware of dog" sign out, even if you don't have a dog. Just make it obvious to that fucker that you're on to him and you will not be fucked with.
Have you filed a R/O?
BTW, it makes me sick when people like this have children...

He had all that ^^ to lose from the very beginning. Yet he was willing to risk all of that for the opportunity to do God only knows what to you.
Yes he has a lot to lose and nobody in their right mind would risk it; obviously this guy isn't in his right mind.

Are you kidding me? I don't even know how to hold a baseball bat. I wouldn't do it myself. Besides, he could identify her... all I have to say is, knowing my friends that guy would just get in a drunk fight late at night and I wouldn't even find out til the next day when it printed in the newspaper.
Luxurious, now that we know he lives across the street and he's getting out of jail I agree- you better move out of there. But its so wrong that he fucked up your life like that and you're the one that has to turn your life upside down. At least you CAN move. That's the only good thing.
