c)empire waisted- not all of us look good in them. They make me look flat chested and fat. I am a 34D and have a 25 inch waist. Fail.
OMG!! ^5.. I'm 34D-24-33 myself. Yes, all natural too.
I *love* your rant..... :highfive: May have to quote it on my livejournal if you don't mind. :D

Now you guys know why I usually wear "gym type" comfy clothes. Like yoga pants from Aero, and tank tops.
Not only is it comfy, but it is form fitted and shows off my ass and tits!
Fuck the moo moo revolution!!!
Those are my staples.;D

Yoga pants are pretty much all I wear. It's true.

^^^ I even dress my yoga/workout pants up. I make them work no matter where I'm going!

That's funny. But hourglasses look good in anything. The stuff they recommended for V-shaped women would look HORRIBLE on me. And although my "measurements" say hourglass, I AM a Vshape. That website is crappola.
But, i still like Bebe.com. I don't like their stores though.

I totally understand. I feel UGLY as hell wearing shirts that could fit my plus-sized mother! Companies are giving in to the demands of women and girls who need to lose weight for their own health's sake! When I used to be fat, I couldn't find clothes. I lost weight to wear cute stuff, and now this happens! Do I need to be fatter? Do I need to be crackwhore thin to look like the fashion models do in these weird clothes? Am I missing something?!?/:O
I was actually able to wear JUNIORS clothes and t-shirts through my entire pregnancy. That is just plain ridiculous. I am also curvy (32D-25-36), and I cannot stand wearing things that PUNISH me for having boobs and a butt by making them part of the amorphous blob that my body shape becomes in some of these clothes. I've taken to belting dresses and tunic-shirts at the waist in protest.
You'd think some designer would've picked up on our market demographic already!

Women don't want to show off their waist for the simple reason they don't have any. That doesn't apply to the ladies on this board in general, though.
The last time I checked, my waist was 24-25 and hips 35-36. Sometimes I like to wear a tunic, makes me feel like a little girl in a way but if I want to, I have a waist to show off. (I still remember the compliments I got when I wore my best gown that definitely hugs the curves. Too bad one cannot wear it that often, I mean, it could easily pass as a wedding dress, red though, should the need arise... ::))
Edit: And oh, I shop at children's department, too! In a way I love it, kids clothing tends to be cheaper than adults'. (Like basic jeans etc.)

I am SO fucking over the whole tunic thing. They look like shit on me no matter what I do. I just want some cute dresses that look good on my body type.

I know it's so late 80s/early 90s, but I look so good in fit (at the waist) and flare (at the hips/butt) stuff -- as do most other women! Maybe I'll bring it back.

IDK if you're being sarcastic, but that was my beauty icon growing up haha. I used to walk like her too haha.
And I agree, all the stores sell the same dumb shit that doesn't seem to flatter anyone or any body.
No, I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I truely thought she was (oddly from a little girl thoughts) sexy and I loved how all the men drooled over her and wanted her. I wanted to be sexy like that, when I grew up. :)
No you were not! Even as a little girl I hated that Roger Rabbit movie. I only liked Jessica.}:D and look @ us now lol..

The thing that I hate most about tunics is that they all look so plain and similar. Long baggy shiny fabric. Long baggy black fabric. Long baggy purple fabric with braided straps. Long baggy fabric with beads on the straps.
Woo fucking hoo
+1 on MeanGirl wondering where the fuck hot, belly-skimming, cleavage-enhancing, bra-hiding tops went! Greatglam.com is good but I wish I could just go try some on IRL at a store.

Bubble booties are bad? :O
Heh, to each their own...
But wouldn't it suck if there were only tunics everywhere? Like... what if stores carried nothing but tunics? Wouldn't that suck?
Oh wait..... it does.

Do you know of any other stores that carry similar clothing? That is some great stuff for sure... but it's still on the pricey side.

This is why I've retired do doing a majority of my clothing shopping online for cute clothes. It's a life saver when the bad trends come rolling through.

This trend is the bane of my existence and it seems like it's been around forever! I haven't gone shopping for regular tops in months, even though I am in dire need of some. Every time I go, it's these damn tunics.
I have an unusual body shape so I guess I can understand why they wouldn't make clothing specifically to flatter it. But if they made more than ONE style, I'm sure I would have better odds of finding something! I have broad shoulders, little boobs, flat stomach, then flaring out to hips and a curvy butt and thick thighs that don't slim down until the rest of my body looks like it belongs in a concentration camp. Everything seems made for girls with big boobs, big stomachs, and toothpick legs. Everything is cut super low to show off cleavage that I don't have, then it bulges over my waist to make it look twice as big as it actually is and comes to rest in the middle of my bubble butt. Then I look like this:

Not cool! I will NOT wear clothing that hides my good features and accentuates all my bad ones. For years, I've only found good tops in used clothing stores where they sell all the stuff that's been out of fashion for a while. My body looks great in T-shirts or tank tops that show about an inch of belly and don't plunge down my chest. Grr, have current fashion designers ever considered that there are women who look BETTER when they display their waists? I'm with Sophia_Starina. The more variety there is, the better the chance that every woman will find something to suit her body!

I hated the tunic when it first came out. Now that I've succembed and actually bought a few, I find myself wearing them belted. On my body, they fall at that perfect spot on my hips where I look sexy and classy when it's nipped in at the waist.
I'm not buying any more than the three I have. Purple, black and cream. I have a couple different belt options to go with any of them...
Arden B had some cute non tunic tops last time I was there.

Oooooooo I spent sooooo much $$$ at H&M when I was in NY last month. They have some awesome stuff BUT a LOT of tunics since they sell whats "IN".

I've started disliking VS clothes very much, same with Arden B. They're like Wet Seal, but more expensive...same company, actually. ArdenB's clothes are just like Forever 21 and all those other similar stores.. wash them a few times and they get wrung out of shape or fall apart. I used to wear their clothes all the time before i could afford anything better.
I'd love to try H&M, but they don't have any stores here and their internet shopping is not available in the U.S. They should work on that.

Glad I'm not the only one in disgust of all the "maternity" clothing... that, and trying to find stuff for my short, petitely topped self. Why does a small now look like a damn medium-large? Uhg.

Hey... that sounds really cute. Hmm... :)
I really like the turtleneck cap sleeve dress trend that I've been noticing. I bought one in magenta (fave color) and a black one that's ruched on the sides and my body looks unbelievably sexy in them. A+ for that trend! Too bad you can't wear sexy clingy dresses on a daily basis. :(

H&M stuff fits boxy. It's one of my least favorite stores.

I went into H&M today. Ugh.... I was so disappointed. Everything is just blah. They used to at least carry some edgy, offbeat stuff. Now it's all plain, in weird colors, and anything that is even halfway decent cost $59.99 and up.
:(
demonika
09-24-2008, 08:30 PM
yeah. the good stuff in there always costs a bit more. you have to dig there to find something of good quality/style/cost.

Target rivals H&M these days.
demonika
09-24-2008, 09:19 PM
it just seems that pretty much EVERYTHING, even target, is crap, disposable clothes. i wear them once or twice, decide i hate them or they lost their shape and are garbage.
id rather dress down and look like crap in a really really nice pair of jeans and a tshirt than wear disposable wet seal clothes and look "trendy." nothing is working for me these days.

I don't like skinny jeans either. They just don't look right.
I also despise those pegged "boyfriend' jeans Katie Holmes keeps shlepping around in. Those are not hot by any stretch.

Skinny jeans look bad on most people. Boyfriend jeans are so 80s. They can be made hot paired with the right top. Not the typical kind of "hot" though.
