I filled up for $1.73 the other day and then saw a place later while I was driving around town that was 1.60 something. Woot! Gosh I hope it stays this way. *crosses fingers*

How far away? One of the things that gets me is the people who drive across town to save a dime per gallon.

Let's say a tank holds 15 gallons. 1.73 x 15 = 25.95.

At 1.60, it would be 24.00.

Across town is about 20 miles, or 1 gallon of gas (assuming 20 mpg). So, the savings is a 35cents cents (1.95 - 1.60 = 35cents). But then they have to drive back home, so 35cents - 1.60 = -1.25. It just cost them money to get gas.

And then I've seen people wait for hours in line, lol, even further increasing their cost.

Sorry, a pet peeve of mine.

In Illinois it was $1.78 on Saturday in the city I work;D. However, the city I live in, about 1 hour north, its $0.17 more expensive. Weird.

My wife will drive across town to save 2 cents a gallon. When I bring up how that makes no sense and that it actually costs us money she gets pissed. I think it is a girl thing ::)

I am a native Kentuckian although I moved to Ohio in the mid '70's. Seems like KY has always been more reasonable in terms of gas excise taxes, booze taxes, cig taxes etc as compared to Ohio and other states.

$1.55 a gallon nice! Cheapest I've seen is $1.79 but I'm sure it's going to keep dropping. Suddenly .99 doesn't seem out of the realm of possiblility

Cheapest regular gasoline around here is about $1.90-something. Diesel is about $3.70!! Since the counties get sales tax from fuel sales, and the dollars have dropped, now they are complaining that their tax plans based on $4.00 fuel is not going to materialize. It's stupid because that tax should be going one-for-one into the cost of buying fuel, not some surplus slush-fund.

Too friggin' BAD!

I was a spend thrift this evening. I was on vapors so I had to fill up. I'm supposed to run premium in my Escalade but I have been a cheap ass for months and buying regular and letting my car computer deal with it. I filled up with mid octane at $1.71. 36 bucks for 20 gallons ha! I didn't vote for Obama (since I am an old rich white guy) but this is a change I have been looking for ;D

A cool side note...Dayton, OH is in the top 5 for the cheapest gasoline prices from what I heard on the radio. Which means we have more money to spend of strippers }:D

Combine that with the Commonwealth laws, and you will remember why this is my fav state, lol!

Anyway, update! Gas is currently $1.46/gallon on the holiday (which usually it's a few cents higher), so there ya go, lol.

Actually there are a lot of ethnic Kentucky strippers in Dayton still. My favorites!

Prices have inched up a nickle or so here over the last few days but still not that unreasonable considering.
