I agree with a lot of the girls on the previous page. I LIKE being called "curvy" or something to that effect. I even try to play it up since I'm just not built to ever look like a ballet dancer.
But the word THICK has been used by women who were just plain overweight and now it reminds me of a slovenly, very large woman or someone really stocky and blocky - NOT womanly. So it's not an issue of trying to be stick thin just because you're white, it's more of the connotations of that damn word since people have butchered what it originally meant.

yeah i hear ya. everybody claims thickness these days.
I stand by my words, when i see someone authentically "thick" i am envious. kate winslet is a great example of thickness. especially when she was in holy smoke.

That is such a great point. Sort of like 200lb women claiming to be "voluptuous". Voluptuous for me is like Marilyn Monroe was, or if Jessica Rabbit was a real person.
"Thick", for me, brings up the stocky-blocky type with tons of cellulite and an undefined waistline sorta like you're describing. I also just dont think in general it's a very flattering word to use when describing a woman. When did "hot" and all it's synonyms go out of style?;D
Ok I'm going to do my own dancing with the stars visuals of thick, petite, fragile, and Phat.
Between Brooke, Edyta---Thick =womanly, great body, stronge legs, big, ass, hips a prefect 10.
Jullianne--Petite, tight, toned, girlie, super slim, sexy, also a prefect 10.
Susan Lucci --mind you she is 62 so I consider her a classic beauty with a great body for her frame/age, but she's fragile and always has been, looks breakable, could use some weight gain interms of muscle mass. Anything less would look sickly, unhealthy, weak. Still all things considered I'ld give her an 8
Lacey to Cheryl ---Phat = thick going on the bigger side, big bones, stronge frame, very curvy, full figure, Yes I know Cherly is only a size 4 , but she just carries it heavy somehow (she must be short) still both are way sexy, beautful and womanly--I'ld give them both an 8 too.
Now maybe every1 has a different view on what phat, thick, thin..ect is--however that's mine and so thick to me is not fat or even close at all.

I have dealt with the you are too skinny here and there but not too often because I have a rather athletic body. Not scary athletic but just enough. A bit before I retired from dancing I had gained some weight. 125 at 5'2" and I love it. I enjoi my curve and so does my husband. I have alway had curve though. I have never fit into anything smaller than a 3 since I was in 8th grade. lol. Hips run in the family and that's allright with me too. I think some people just don't understand these things. One guy actually told me I was voluptious. I was smiling and laughing a bit when he said that because at the time I was only 105.
People are very distorted from media's expectations. I never let their comments bother me. In fact I take it in stride and it usually always worked out in my benefit in the end. $.
You know what you are just pretend that what they say is exactly what you want to hear. ^-^
