His kids are getting a puppy! YAY for democracy!
Mothers everywhere are saying: "When your dad gets elected, then you can get a puppy, too. ";D

yes he is prolly the most trust worthy honest politian i've ever seen...and so cool, calm and collective. i heart obama....
For a CHICAGO pol , he is relatively clean and honorable but let's see how "honest" and "trustworthy" you think he is as he starts breaking campaign promises.

I could not stop crying tears of joy last night. This is a MAJOR civil rights victory, considering how horribly racist America still is (see all the 'women of color' threads on this site alone). I'm so so glad Obama won!
But I feel bad for Obama, because Bush and Co. are leaving him with waaaaay too big a mess to clean up in just 4 years. I think people are being too idealistic and hanging too much hope on him. Once they realise we won't be returning to the dot com/Clinton years, Obama (through no fault of his own) will be viewed as 'weak' ........ paving the way for the next REAGAN.
The whole situation is too Jimmy Cateresque, imo.
I also fear the deep rooted hatred, ignorance, and fear so many whites still have of blacks. I fear that something terrible may happen to him and/or his family. It disgusts me that many people based their judgement on "who would I rather have in office, a black president or female vice president?" when race and gender are NOT the point! But I'm glad that ultimately, we've moved forward as a society as of last night, and hopefully things will continue in that direction, as thats where the greatest change will come from.

Hopefully, this sort of garbage was transcended last night.

the average was about 7-8 points, and historically the final tally is a point or two closer, so he finished up where typical two-white-guy contests did.
there was zero bradley effect. his support was neither over nor understated (not much of a reverse bradley either).

I agree with this. He is a politician first and foremost. I would hope he isn't 'dirty' but I won't treat him like some kind of Messiah. I hope he can make a difference in the next 4 years, but he won't turn the USA into some kind of utopia.

I'm hoping it is a sticker so I can put it on my car. I'm looking around for it now.
Especially here in conservative NC.
There is a huge banner on the side of the main street that said: JUST VOTE NO to BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. I wonder how long they will keep it up there lol.

Supposedly there was a "Buffet Effect". White, conservative males saying they were voting for McCain but voting for Obama.

That's exactly what I was thinking while watching everyone screaming and shedding tears. Don't cry too soon. It's one giant leap now yes but will he show his true colors like all of the other lying politicians eventually?
Got to be a realist about this. Great to have a man of color as president but a year down the road when more *ish hits the fan will he be that same man who we thought could fix everything?
