Have you watched MSNBC lately ? Chris Matthews followed by Keith Olberman followed by Rachel Madcow ? The only one remotely 'fair and objective" is Matthews. I didn't say anything about MSNBC, I was asked to comment on CNN. Yes, MSNBC is much more slanted then CNN. I am not defending them as I feel the corrupted corporate owned media is responsible for most of what is wrong with our country. However, I think MSNBC is in large part just a reaction to FOX going way, way to far. Also, while Oberman and Maddow voice thier dislike of Bush and the administration, I don't see them shouting down guests, cutting off mikes or getting real 3rd grade with people as you see on Fox pretty often.
Also, I think alot what they report is true. When MSNBC reported 8 months ago that the Iraq was was a horrible idea, and was a big mess and that Bush is incompetent (or at least misguided), I don't think you'll find too many people (even Republicans) who will argue. But when FOX was reporting that things were going well in Iraq and it was the liberal media painting a bad picture. When the truth came out and it was a big mess, and the pre and post planning was non existent. When even the leaders who said it was going well and under control later admitted yes, it was a mess and mistakes were made etc. That made the FOX cheerleaders pretty much non-journalists in my eyes.
Now that things are reasonably better in Iraq, do you see CNN or MSNBC trying to say they are not and trying to convince people that is still a mess and out of control and it's only right-wing media trying to put a good spin on it?.

Fox is definitely biased, probably as much to the right as CNN is to the left. From the exposure I have to the late Tim Russert, I believe he tried to be as unbiased as anyone. He was hard hitting left and right. Now he is gone. :(

I agree with option IF it is also applied to TV, Cable, print and web media as well as radio !

Sadly, it doesn't. It applies to radio because they use the "public airwaves". It used to apply to broadcast T.V. It does NOT apply to cable , satellite or the internet and definitely not to print.
Any effort to reimpose the Doctrine based on CONTENT would almost certainly be ruled unconstitutional.

Fox reported the (RELATIVE) success of the "surge" in Iraq. "MSLSD" for the most part has ignored it.
As for MSNBC being more civil, for the most part that's true but Matthews has gone off on guests. Olberman and Madcow carefully limit their guests to only those that they agree with. Just like Bill Maher on "REAL TIME". And just like Rush
Limbaugh and Mark Levin on their radio shows.
As much as I can't stand the guy, Sean Hannity has plenty of Libs on both his radio and T.V. shows. So does O'Reilly. The only ones who come close to Fox in letting the other side have their say are Chris Matthews, McLaughlin and occasionally Bob Schieffer.
"Meet the Depressed" is an adjunct P.R. firm for the DNC. Stephanaopolous NEVER has another conservative other than George Will.

First of all, the Would You Vote for a Smoker bullshit is a little extreme, don't you think? Smoking is legal. Who gives a shit?
Okay, I don't even know why I bother looking on this site anymore, this has gotten just to the extreme.
Melonie, I get that you don't like Obama. What I don't get is why you are so obsessed with it that you have to post several threads a day with random, anti Obama propoganda?
By the way Melonie, for all your talk about anti Americanism, I have to tell you I think it's pretty fucking un-American to plot to buy citizenship in another country to bail out of paying taxes. That doesnt show a lot of love for country, now does it!!
And what the fuck, this really did turn into CustieWeb! Aren't you guys supposed to be on the Blue side, anyway?

but ... but paying higher taxes is patriotic ::)
Personally, I would choose Monaco for obvious reasons, but they probably don't let just anyone in.

Hey, if you want to leave I see no problem with it. Life is short and the world is a big beautiful place.
I do wonder what your attititude was towards Dems who wanted to or were able to do the same thing after the 04 election.
I'm curious because most of the people I came across who share your politics were brutal to any and every Dem who even mentioned the idea of becoming an ex-pat when Kerry didn't get the job.
So when are you leaving anyway?

Generally people who earn more and/or have more financial resources require government services than middle class earners. One thing I have approved of is the large reduction of inheritance taxes that started in 2000/2001. I can see a reason for some of that, but it has for example largely destroyed family-held farming. And taxes on those earnings have already been paid.
You know, I think that a person clearing a quarter million dollars p.a. is doing very well. There's still only 24 hours in a day and you can't work it all; and if you hire other people to do your work, maybe more should go to them. So I think that is certainly enough. Still, mostly GREED and desire for STATUS makes people want more, sometimes to the point where they are exploiting others to satisfy their excess personal wants. So don't hit me with that $250,000 stuff too hard here.

What? Dude, I cut my own grass. I drag my trash can to the curb every Friday like all of my neighbors. When the snow hits I will be out there shoveling and risking a heart attack like every one else. What are these additional government resources you are talking about? I wish I had a government paid piss boy to do those tasks for me.

Money is not the root of all evil, but greed may well be. FBR, are you familiar with how the poor live in the poor sections? At least they collect your trash weekly and provide you with police protection of your propertry and business and street cleaning.

I believe we have permission to be members and post in the Members Boards, and a couple of other places. Further, I think we contribute a little to the common good, generally. You could always petition for a change of rules.

"Poor" people collecting trash and providing police protection ? Not in NYC. Not in any major city where most cops and sanitation workers are very well paid.

Well, you admit it has a lot to do with money provided for services. And the more wealth one group or location has, the more protection will be provided.
