well, i got it at the dejavu love boutique (associated with the club) here. i don't know why they'd sell a knock off. i certainly didn't pay knock off price for it.
the top and bottom parts feel heavy like real metal. and while it didn't come with a bag for the whole thing, there's the little bags for the top and for the bottom pieces. the the rubber rings on both are off white, not black.
i'd get a better idea if i could set it up and look at how the pieces line up, but i'm afraid that if i do, i won't be able to return it. that's 300$ lost (though that was the stripper discount, which i'm pretty sure makes it unreturnable anyways).
the dvd was in the white envelope. there was just no manual with it. very strange.

^^^ Why not just take your receipt and explain to them that your pole was missing instruction booklet and bag?
They should take care of it for you.

Well it doesn't sound like you got a knock off then...and the bags are suppose to be two sepate bags for the dome/base and one long bag for the extensions. It's very odd that they missed the instruction manual but anything is possible in factory assembly. It just set off a red flag as the DVD and Manuals are part of what alerts us that fakes are being sold.
(the store may not have even realized they had obtained fakes as there are so many independent reps selling the xpole aside from the distributor and most of them are legitimate)
If you send me your email address I can email the PDF of the instructions for you. There isn't a lot different.
A few things to note though if you haven't read other posts on it:
The dome should go directly under ONE joist in the ceiling...not between two. Our ceilings are contructed differently here in the US.
The adjuster rod does not come separately anymore but is already screwed into the top of the main pole extension.
There may not be a wrench with your pole sets (unless you got one that is a few months old) and you use the release rods inserted into the holes on the locking nut and adjuster rod to tighten or loosen the top rod.
Clean your pole before using and once a month: use dishwash soap and soft sponge to clean ALL threaded parts then lubricate with a silicone lubricant spray (you can use WD40 but it evaporates quickly and silicone lasts longer)
Your pole should be cleaned before first use as it has likely accumulated dust and dirt in the greased threads during shipping and storage...accumulations of dirt in the threads will act like glue and make your pole stick together someday and be stuck.

My set came with everything and tools except for the wrench. I was able to use a regular wrench for the smaller part but had to tighten with my own strength the bigger part.

I'm not clear I understand which parts you are referring to as bigger and smaller, but any parts on the X that need tightening should have a small hole in the side in which you can insert the end of the release rods and use them as leverage to tighten the part into place.

yes they do. I mean underneath the adjuster cover. The tool is like to different types of wrenches in one. That's the tool I don't have.

Correct..the double headed wrench is the part that is no longer included with the XPole...now you use the release rods inserted into the hole to tighten or loosen either the adjuster rod or the locking nut.

Thank you so much Empyrean for being so forthcoming with your knowledge. I don't know what I would've done without ya!
So the bad news is, my X-Pole is a fake. Flaking chrome, black rubber, misaligned parts... all that jazz. I thought it was just because it was used. I got it on Ebay so I'm going to try to get the seller to take it back. If not, I'm sure I can sell it to a non-professional for close to what I paid for it. Hopefully.
But I do have a technical question - do real x-poles flex? This rip-off one does, but it feels sturdy... I just wondered it this was typical.
Thanks again!

Mine doesn't flex.

Mine doesn't flex.
And it fucking shouldn't. It should be really fucking sturdy. The only time mine bent at all was when it wasn't screwed together tightly enough.

SassyPants...thanks and I'm sorry you got ripped off. Most people who have found they've gotten a fake pole wind up getting a refund when they push that they know it's a fake. Good luck and if you wish to let me know the seller's name, Xpole is trying to deal with them. I get the feeling it's the same few and they just keep popping up under different names.
All poles have the potential to "bow" a bit. Let me put it this way - I teach my students to check their poles for stability by grabbing with both hands just above their head height, jumping up and pulling out. (the pole should remain safely in place) This should be done each day or every few hours in between dancing.
Well on an 8 foot pole, you should not FEEL any bow or give...but someone standing to the side may see a slight flex or bow.
At 9 feet, you may or may not feel it yourself. at 10 feet you will feel a slight bow and may even see it yourself from your angle...and so on. The higher the pole the more it bows - but it is not a lot and it is always stable and safe.
The highest I've had my Xpoles is 11 feet...I can see and feel a slight flex but I can also feel that the pole is steady and in place. They say you can put the XPole up to a 12 foot ceiling - but you must use the correct extensions to do so so that there are fewer joints and therefore less flexing.
All poles bow somewhat as they get higher. But it should not be so much that you feel the pole is unsteady. As Otaki said, it should feel sturdy.
Trust me...it's not a LOT. If a pole flexes too much, by bending, it's floor to ceiling length becomes shorter and that allows the pole to pull out easily from under the ceiling and fall.
Also, some of these fakes have been known to crack at the joints as well as the ceiling domes have split. They aren't just cheap but unsafe.

Oh no guys, of course I wouldn't sell it knowing full well it was a fake. I meant sell it to someone who would only want it for looks or just a pole to dance with, not do tricks on.
Oh lord no!
The original seller said: "This is authentic and I got them from the biggest distributor in west coast."
my ass.
they only want to give me $50 back and let me keep the pole, I don't know what to do.

You should push the ebay seller to give you a full refund and threaten exposure of illicit trading and even a law suit if it comes to that. Be sure to let them know you are reporting the case to ebay, paypal (important) and even a government organization that specializes in scams. Make sure to follow through with these reports to prevent this from happening in the future.
I dont know how much you paid for the pole but them having the nerves to offer you only $50 for a fake product with false advertising means you are not pushing it enough. I mean you must really push it and even call them. You can get their phone number through the paypal individual transaction history. You do not want to resell a fake product whether it is going to be used for cosmetic purposes or pole dancing. Trust me! And you never know who will be buying it from you. You might get a law suit among other things. Besides you do not want to be contuinuing this cycle but breaking it by fighting for your rights as a buyer.
You should get a full refund and if they ask you to return the product, they should pay for the shipping charges by including it with your refund. Honestly, you have a choice not to even return it to them if they ask. You can hand it instead to the authority and tell them you are doing so. Either ways, you should get your money back and not a penny less. Maybe even more for the inconvenience.

Absolutely! File a complaint with Ebay and Paypal. I've done this in the past when I was scammed on an ipod (the guy closed shop and never sent it - I wasn't the only one.) Chances are you are not the only person who has bought this faulty product on FALSE ADVERTISING.
Be sure to also report this person to X-Pole. The only way to shut these people down is to stay on them and close them down everytime they try to start back up.
These fakes are dangerous. I had a student who purchased one and the dome cracked - thankfully it happened during installation and she wasn't dancing on it at the time. Another girl was actually duct taping her pole together - very unsafe.
You are entitled to a refund. They legally HAVE to give you a refund. They don't get a choice - they are wrong.
I hope you get it settled soon. And please don't resell it, just because someone thinks they won't want to do tricks on it doesn't mean they won't at a later point.
I'm sorry this has happened to you. Their ads are really convincing - if I didn't know the x-pole price I personally could easily be fooled into buying them.

these sellers are unscrupulous. They are selling off of someone else's hard earned name because they cannot make a name for themselves since the pole is a piece of crap. They are ripping people off and on top of that, you're getting an unsafe pole. That link I added shows poles that the dome or the threaded joints have cracked!!!
They resorted to false advertising and Paypal and ebay will support you. I also know that Ebay is working with Vertical Leisure (The XPole Company) to remove such accounts so they are standing up to these fraudulent dealers. Unfortunately they keep popping back up under new accounts.
Don't take the $50 - turn them in to ebay, Paypal and Vertical Leisure (you can write
[email protected]) and post their ebay name on here so no one else buys from them! You'd be helping a lot of people and getting a full refund.

Just a quick question for anybody who owns an Xpole. I bought a titanium one thinking that the grip would be the same, if not better than brass and I find it much harder to do tricks on than the brass ones we have in the club. Does anyone find this?

Anyone know anything about the Carmen Electra pole?

Yeah it's really unsafe. I works just like the peek a boos except is has a sticky top - so basically double stick tape is holding the pole up. You also cannot spin counter clockwise because it will shrink and fall over.
Have heard terrible stories about it.

No. I found the grip to be comparable to brass.

YES! You could only turn in one direction because you twist the pole to tighten it against the ceiling. It's also super slippery, so you can't do things like the knee-grip/flag. DO NOT buy this pole.
Think of the price you pay for the X-pole as an investment for SAFE strength and flexibility training.
