Good luck! I know a new club/new hustle can be hard, but just allow yourself to learn. And you will probably make mistakes, but don't let them get to you. Just learn from them and move on:D

girl screw them, have a shot if u drink, copy some moves, and make ur money. I felt the same way when I went to Mobile to dance at an all black club. they LOVED me bc of my accent and because I danced like the girls...I even got compliments from some of the black girls on my booty pop. I was nervous and discouraged at first, but hang in there... even if it means changing up your style a little bit.. good luck with everything :)

Hey Ms. Mia
I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience at that club but I know the feeling. I started out doing private parties and the firs time I made the transition to dance at a club was at a black club in Baltimore, MD. I felt so intimidated on stage and the response from the audience wasn't all that. So keep your head up and keep trying. I plan to eventually try a club again soon myself...:P

Hey Luscious, I decided to head back North (coldest phucking time of the year, lol)-missed ya too!
Victory, you and I are going to have MAJOR problems, if you don't bring ur ass!!!! Your body type and everthing else will be great. I am NOT endorsing this club yet for anybody, as I've only done one shift (last thurs), and I was in a crappy exhausted funk!
I will say that I was there with two of my close friends from my other club in Philly, and they both did well, especially considering we didn't actually start "working" until after 11pm that night:)
I see potential, I see pit-falls. I'm keeping my options open.

Excuse me, but this is bs. I started at an upscale white club and I've also worked in the "booty shaking" capital of the world, Miami's club Coco's and Diamonds (upscale black club, has a basketball court and barbershop indoors). I can't dance and have a natural body. I've always been called the "white" girl by my friends, but I bank! White clubs may focus more on conversation, while black clubs focus more on entertainment. I respect both ways. The "booty popping" is a skill that takes a long time to learn and perfect! I'm kind of offended by your comments actually. Sounds to me like you are a close minded girl who can't fit in with her own kind. IMO.

Charisma you are cute!! I don't think she was trying to offend anyone, it's just hard for some people to change their style in a new environment, especially since she's just starting out.
I personally would love to work in a black club, and i'm skinny as hell wit no ass, but I might give it a try!
It's all about personal taste. I would imagine a black club to be easier to make money and more relaxed, but I've only danced in mostly white clubs, wit mostly white custies and maybe one or two black girls.

So the club i just got hired at, "Ricks"... has now went to the Dark Side...(pun intended)
I thought i would just try it out... maybe it wouldn't be as bad as i expected... it was...AWFUL!!!
When i tried hustling, i did my usual... walked up to men and started conversations... talkin intelligently, that works for me...... but they didn't want to hear that shit.... they wanted my ass in thier neck... and they quickly dismissed me or ignored me. I guess intelligence bores black men /:O ....so sad
I
Is that how you were talking intelligently?
"has now went to the dark side" its "has now gone to the dark side"
I don't know how you can talk inteligently without the basic English skills that a five year old is capable of!
sorry but maybe you think your talking intelligently and your not!

Reading this thread makes me want to work at a black club...I love clubs with a party atmosphere, where it's more about dancing and entertaining than sitting down and hustling VIP rooms.
But I'm afraid I'd be laughed out the door if I went to audition at the one black club that I know of in MD, b/c I'm a pale white girl with no ass. :(

Since we're being all extra grammar and spelling police-ish let me fix your post for you:

For the record, the correct term is "speak intelligently".
So...yeah. Stop being an ass about grammar when you don't have a firm grasp of it yourself.
Also, it's a message board. You'll find lots of bad grammar and such. That doesn't mean people actually talk this way in real life.
What the derail.....my bad people. I just kinda sorta hate stuff like that. Carry on with discussions of booty clapping.

Race doesn't really matter at black clubs. Having a big ass doesn't really matter either (although it can make things easier). If you can entertain on stage and you have the gift of gab, then you'll do well.

yes Miss Mia Robberts put 'talkin intelligently' which is why i put 'talking intelligently' so she could understand, the point I was making is that maybe she isn't realy all that clever and there's no reason to put a whole race down because of an experience she's had, I think it is a case of the pot calling the kettle black on her part not mine!
And also i wasn't commenting on her grammar, more the fact that she doesn't even have the basic speech skills that structure the English language when spoken 'has went to the dark side'! come on! I may have quickly typed some words in the wrong form but when read out loud the sentances make sense!

Here's a friendly suggestion:
Before you make a huge assumption about someone based on one post, click on their name, read some other posts they've made, and then consider whether or not your initial impression still stands.
I can tell you that MissMiaRoberts isn't stupid, and she isn't putting all black people down. She is simply expressing her frustration when dealing with (largely) younger black men in black clubs because she has trouble adopting to the hustle necessary in that situation. She does better in clubs with a different hustle atmosphere.
My point is, assuming she is uneducated or prejudiced (did I really see someone write "not comfortable with your own kind" here? Oof) based on her posts is a bad idea.

Firstly, "your own kind"? Really? MMR is an individual, and I find you reducing her to her ethnic background (which is what you're doing by saying "your kind") to be rather offensive. And you should differentiate "I don't like black men" and "I don't like black clubs that allow raunchy, degrading actions from staff and customers alike". Just because she doesn't like raunchy clubs or rude men doesn't make her anti-black. She's pointing out that the black clubs she's worked in (or gone to) seem to follow this pattern, which she doesn't enjoy. Some girls can hack that hustle, and some can't (or won't), and there's nothing wrong with saying you didn't like the way a club was run.
So what, exactly, do you find offensive about her post?

Firstly, "Dark side, pun intended"?! Really? OP brought race into it, ALL people are individuals, to make a blanket statement of an entire genre of people is wrong! I admit using the phrase, "own kind" for shock value. Believe it or not racism is very real, being a WOC, I do get VERY offended when blanket statements are made, hey some may think I'm blowing it out of proportion. Statements like this, made by black, white, or otherwise, are the same as saying: I won't work with *insert group* again, because they are rude, stupid and simple, *insert group* are better. If I made a thread like that, I'd be flamed instantly, as I should. When you have replies like: " If i was black, I wouldn't work at a black club for reasons u mentioned". The OP said no matter how nice the clubs is, it looks cheap, one could argue that all stripping looks cheap. Also, if you have to make a drastic change just to fit into a club (" I don't care if I have to dye my hair blonde and lose 20 pounds"), maybe that isn't the place for you either.
A "black" club may not be for everyone, that doesn't make a "white" club better, just different. Urban clubs can be intimidating, like I said before, it isn't as easy as it may seem to do that style of dancing ( go in front of a mirror and try it). Black men enjoy variety too, if you have a good attitude. Don't go in the club, expecting to fail, don't think you have to have a big butt that claps on command, do YOUR style of dance (Hell I've done Latin dancing!). I explained to the DJ that I was new to it and couldn't do that stuff and promised a tip to play a slower song and put a girl with a similar body to mine on with me. I focused on making eye contact and selling VIP dances, many nites I would be the top earner.

Actaulay i have already read some of her other posts, ones about her scrapping with her ex boyfriends ex girlfriend on her college campus, she seems like a realy intelligent classy girl!I also read about hoe she left her car in a dodgy area and it got broken into again not such a clever idea and quite pedictable.
suppose you couldn't say anything about my last post, quote it and highlight it, so gave me a "friendly suggestion" instead!
Guess you couldn't take my point she's a hypocrite and about the quick typing thing 'went' and 'gone' both have 4 letters so it would have been just as quick to type either word, shame she didn't use the correct one that makes sense to everyone else!
And just for the record i'm not getting at the point that she put down anyone on race just the fact that not having basic English skills doesn't demonstrate intelligence nothing about grammar because yes i type quickly but basic English!

A "black" club may not be for everyone, that doesn't make a "white" club better, just different.
There are quite a few threads that discuss how some dancers believe that all men of a certain ethnic background are not worth their time or trouble. Some posters agree with them, some point out that there are exceptions to every rule. Either way, it is only an opinion and being that we are exotic dancers and independent contractors, we are not obligated to deal with any customer we don't want to for whatever reason. Doesn't matter if the reason makes sense or not, that is every woman's perogative.
The points you made in your post are in agreement with what Harlow and myself made to Mia. She was ranting/venting in her first post- some people came in the thread and agreed with her- and others like myself who work in a black club told her how she could adapt or what kind of attitude she should have if she decided to return.
From my view, she changed her mind and decided to hang in there and give it another shot. So to me, she feels a bit differently about her surroundings. It was something new to her, and she was reaching out for support and it was given to her by most members on this board.
I wouldn't pay much attention to people who say they won't work in places if they were a different race because 1. They aren't obligated to work in a black club regardless of background, 2. They are making comments and judgements on something they don't know much about. Looking back at the statements made, I can understand now why it would rub some the wrong way. I just didn't feel that way knowing Mia and the situations she was experiencing in her life at the time.
Trust me, if you think this thread was that bad- I hope ya'll don't come across a few of the others regarding race because your blood pressure will certainly rise.

It's so funny that people chime in and cause commotion on OLD ass threads:) i don't ever want to work in a black club again so i suppose that makes me a racist. Some girls just don't fit the mold of working in a black club. I certainly don't and therefore i choose to stay away from black clubs. Never once did i see the girl say she doesn't like working with black people. If you worked in both types of settings then you would know how big of a difference it is. I just got back from out of town at a white club where i was pulled off stage straight to the lap dance room and made good money in less than two hours time. Yes this can be accomplished at a black club however for me it seems impossible. If she doesn't want to work in an environment that is not making her money it's her choice.

This is a great summary of what most of the girls are trying to say.
It's like making a comparison of nude NA clubs vs topless alcohol clubs. Or rural clubs vs city clubs. Or "upscale" clubs vs "casual"/"dive" clubs. It's not an issue of race, but club atmosphere and style.

The bar I started dancing in way back in the day was a Biker bar where I made bank. I moved out of town for better work for about a year and then had to move back. When I got back to my "biker bar" it was 55 black girls and 10 white girls and of the 10 white girls I was one of three that danced to rock'n'roll. On Saturday nights when the bar was crammed I was lucky to make $100 bucks with my skinny little white ass until I had a really slow Wednesday and spent the whole day practising the basic butt wiggle to at least make it looks good (the trick is to think Brazilian rather than ghetto). By the next Saturday they wanna-g's were throwing their stacks of money at me once in a while. Not as much but I did take home almost $400 that night rather than a measly $75. It's easier than it looks, most of the motion is actually in your knees and ankles, and it can be worth it to practice and make the good money that can be made that way.
The MC sounds like an ass hole and should be beaten with his microphone. I would suggest you practice for/at a different club. The DR drama and the custies being jerks is one thing, but the staff should at least TRY to maintain some kind of professionalism. Whatever that was it wasn't professional and it certainly wasn't respectful. No self respecting girl should have to put up with that kind of bull shit.

Which club are you thinking of? I may be able to give you some advice.
Race doesn't really matter at black clubs. Having a big ass doesn't really matter either (although it can make things easier). If you can entertain on stage and you have the gift of gab, then you'll do well.
ah sorry; I just now saw this post. I'm thinking of Mile High...and am going to try and audition tomorrow. Hey, if I get turned down I get turned down. Doesn't hurt to try. :)

I know this thread is old as hell and i'm not trying to start shit but i just felt i had to defend myself a lil bit
IMO.
Wow.... that was a bitchy thing to say. The fact that i went in there and gave it a shot (nevermind the fact that i tried to go back) shows that i'm not close minded... and i fit in very well with "my own kind"... however i don't fit in with black people who are ignorant. Just because someone is black, doesn't mean i have to off the bat accept them. And i have spent countless hours defending black people in general on some of these forums. So i'm pretty much laughing at that comment right now.
Is that how you were talking intelligently?
"has now went to the dark side" its "has now gone to the dark side"
I don't know how you can talk inteligently without the basic English skills that a five year old is capable of!
sorry but maybe you think your talking intelligently and your not!
ML... pretty much sumed it up for me :D
I focused on making eye contact and selling VIP dances, many nites I would be the top earner.
i
Read my second comment on this thread please. IN GENERAL, what i said about black clubs is true. I even said that it is fine for the girls that it works for... BUT NOT FOR ME.
And cosmetically changing something about my appearance doesn't change who i am. As long as i am comfortable with it and i'm not doing it agains't my will, who gives a fuck?
And it is a "black club". I don't care what you say or try to say to sugar coat it. It is what it is. Its a black club, geared to black customers with primarily black dancers. If it was a white club with the same atmosphere, then i would say the same things about it... the club was classless and raunchy. I never said there was anything wrong with that. I just said it was wrong for me. I'm sorry if those words have a negative connotation to you.
That doesn't mean i said all black people are classless and want raunchiness. (I have experience a few black men in white clubs who want just the opposite) But the "black club" is geared toward the stereotypical black man. And the stereotypical black man wants raunchiness, not class. So thats what went on there. and THATS what i wasn't comfortable with. I personally and somewhere in the middle between high class and extreme raunchiness. but i'm rambling... and thats not the point.. moving on.
You sound like someone very bitter and judgmental. First of all, we all make mistakes. I never said i was fucking perfect. I've done stupid things before. But i have a great educational background and have held plenty of intelligent conversations before. And i hope someone girl someday comes along and punches you in the face... and let's see how you handle that situation...with class.Thank you for correcting me tho, i just hope i never get a customer as anal as you are.
Second, i didn't put down my whole race. dumbass. read.
And third, that comment about me being dumb enough to leave my car in a dodgy area.... was by far the STUPIDEST THING i have EVER heard.....EVER. WTF am i supposed to do with my car? Drive out to the suburbs and leave it there? and then walk hours back to the campus????? LMAO. That comment seriously made me laugh.... dumbass.

^Good for u :D i just wouldn't run off at the mouth and call other people stupid for their mishaps... because you never know when the same might happen to you. And you seem like someone who would quickly loose a battle like that.
