Yeah, that kind of bothered me, because even though it does happen, it has NO RELEVANCE to this thread, which is about whether or not it's polite to let a dancer know you're waiting for her.
BOTH parts of my post were relvant to the thread.
The first was just throwing something out there for the custie to ponder as the said dancer wasnt noticably making $$ off a young custie. I thinks its fine to offer some insight into the behavior of a dancer whether its good or bad, especially if it helps a custie understand whats happening.
The second part directly gave my suggestion. Both were in direct response to the Original Post. Dont know why the post would bother you. Just keepin it real. This happens. Dancers do often loose $$ mingling w/ personal friends or "Mackin".....and im sure that while this is happening .....paying custies are wondering if its cool to interupt. Thus making it relevant to the ORIGINAL POST.
I still say be polite and let the dancer know youre interested when she has time or etc.

Is it considered OK for me, as a customer, to go over to a dancer hustling another customer, and try to get her for myself?
You should not interrupt them as you wouldn't know what's going on with them, but you should make a point of just making eye contact with the girl. My experience tells me that she is quite likely to act on the eye contact if she's interested in having you buy dances from her. It seems any time I make eye contact with a strange dancer, she will approach me shortly thereafter.

I meant that the "she might like the guy" part was irrelevant to the thread, because so what? It's not an issue of whether or not the dancer is having a good time with the guy, it's more an issue of "what is the most appropriate way to get a dancer's attention/services if she is otherwise occupied".
The general consensus seems to be "get a staff member to do it for you, thus leaving the decision up to the dancer".
Oh, also the "she might like the guy" part bothered me because a) it's ridiculously rare, and b) I think you've observed how many PLs think that without any affirmation from us;)

Good points actually. Was just throwing it out there as it crossed my mind, you are correct on the A and B. :)
**However in regards to the original post: Tonight i was sitting w/ a customer that ended up doing a 15 min VIP room (good tip as well). Another customer kept winking at me, then leaning past a column to make eye contact, smile ,beebop etc. The original custy got mad. I later sat w/ the 2nd guy and he only bought a ladies drink, lol. He also was impolite.
If he had a staff member interupt me, it would have sucked for me. So custies try to make it worth the dancers time if you do "steal her".
I myself can not think of a SUREFIRE correct etiquette for this situation now that i think about it more :0/ Im not gonna post anymore on it but will keep reading posts about it.

Just ask the waitress to tell her you would like to do some dances. Or tip another dancer to discreetly let her know. I've done that several times for custys that wanted a girl who was sitting with someone, and had others do it do me. If the other customer gets miffed, well then, he should have asked for a dance or agreed to one sooner. Poo on him :p

Having a staff member interrupt you shouldn't have ruined anything with the VIP guy. Sometimes I've found that having staff tell me someone is waiting for me makes my current customer spend more money on me. Besides, the interruption would just mean that you can keep the guy in mind, AND it would have mean that you could have avoided your other customer getting annoyed because it might have meant avoiding the idiot's hammy attempts to get your attention;D
Also, if a guy likes you enough to tip a staff member to talk to you, it means they have at least a twenty that they're willing to spend.

Yes. Also, the customer shouldn't get miffed unless you leave them for a dance, and that should only happen after you ask if they want one and they say no. Then it's their own damned fault for expecting you to continue sitting there for free.

I love it when custies, waitresses or floor guys steal me from a useless talker! I also like to rub it in the losers face that someone else wants a dance and I *MIGHT* have time for him later since he didn't get a dance in the first 5 mins of our convo!

^^Yes. Often, it'll be the kick they needed to get a dance once I'm free.
