In the early 90's I read a university level Sociology book. Society and: big business, govt, media, etc. It was a good read, and I was surprised to find that (as well as the books impartiality). A little more research found it valid. That was a few years before I heard of the internet.
ITT manufactured products for and kept the telecom system running. Including submarine communications, buoys, etc..IIRC, the judgment was in the high 20's (million usd).
There are sources on the internet, but as it has gotten bigger, a lot of anti-right groups use it as a truth that is added to fiction, to make their point.
ITT has also been linked to Allende and Franco. They were fined big for their tech transfers.
In that year, a book came out about financing Hitler (I think that was the title). But in later years, there have been other books detailing the western supporters for Hitler (financially).
Anywho, I checked out TER and Elms is no longer with TER. However, I find the misplaced loyalty he is being given by some staff (and non staff) a little...well, misplaced. It is possible for a complete asshole to actually create something useful, and abuse it. Just look at Thomas Edison. ;D
During W.W. II there were foreign subsidiaries of multi-nationals like ITT that continued doing business. There were also a few less than scrupulous American corporations like Texaco that through various machinations sold fuel to the Nazis going through neutral third-parties like Sweden.
Assuming there was an ITT factory in Germany that got bombed, there is still no viable legal theory under which they could sue the U.S. for its damage or destruction. Give me the cite please. I'd like to read the case. If any. ITT did business with a LOT of unsavory people around the world and paid more than their fair share of bribes.
