im on streamate and doin okay, so dont get too discouraged, the potential is there.

what are the busy seasons, slow seasons?

Winter always seems to be busy.

Summer was awful last year (for me) but it seems to be worse this time I guess people have less cash maybe.

But it'll pick up end of september.

I know you girls probably don't want to hear this but really these live cam sites are huge rip offs. You are better off investing you money into building a members website.

In doing camshows, first of all you are being ripped off considering the cut you receive. (But if you are silly enough to not learn to do a website and promote it and create it's content on your own and instead you allow a "webmaster" to do this work for you and take on average %60 percent of your income you will still need a side job.)

Second off, do you really want to sit in some free chat room and deal with freebie beggers for hours at a time and do shows for pennies or instead would you rather record yourself doing what you do in a show for maybe 5-20 minutes a week INSTEAD of plowing your very tired vagina for hours a day? Making a video for your site to be updated with lasts forever and you don't have to tire yourself out!

Basically I don't understand those who seek to do camshows on major sites when they will make more money (and do less work, technically) by building their own empire and brand with a website...

I do still do private shows sometimes but really I only do it because my members really enjoy getting alone time with me, and luckily when I do actually do private chats I have constant business because of my website creating the demand and I can ask for a higher cut being a model with a members site as well! So really I guess it goes hand in hand.

Just some food for thought, home girls! :)

So Jess did you build your own site ?
If so how did you learn to do it it looks so flippin professional.

I'm just about to buy a load of books and try and school myself on the art of all that techy stuff.

By the way GREAT advice, I refuse to work on any site that takes more than 40% of my money and that is still too much.

I paid someone to do the design but I do all of the coding and what not. I learned just by trial and error doing that but there are some great books about it and you can always look up whatever info you need on the good ole' world wide web!

Hi jess!!! Haha Lemme stop but yeah jess is right! These large camsites are a rip off though i was gonna give streamate a try ...building your own site is much more profitable in the long run especially if you get with a payment processor like ecampay that has 75% payouts to the model. Think about it ..I'm working on a members site now!

My question is not how to build a site, but how to promote.

Ive thought about doing one of these sites, but I am extremely concerned with family/friends finding it.. If you build your own site, is there any way you can block a certain state/area from viewing/finding it?? I do understand there are ways around it, BUT for the most part, is there a general way to block it??

I do some web design on the side for a friend of the familys businesses. I got paid to create the site and also paid monthly to update it. I taught myself HTML and java @ 14 also by trial and error

*Create a facebook, twitter, myspace for your CAM persona.
*Join camgirl forums and independent camgirl sites. Google "Independent camgirl" and a list of sites will come up.
*Join camwhores.com. They pay you to do shows on there but not much say $200 for 4 shows..
SEO your site.... Ask a pro to do it if you don't know what you're doing

There are sooo many ways to promote. Even join rude.com and promote yourself there.. Google other girls sites and see what sites their websites are popping up on and join those site..it's endless it's all about trial and error.

The market for porn is most active in America so if you only allowed access or promoted over seas you might get maybe 5 memberships a year. It would be a HUGE mistake.

However you can block out a region from accessing your site IN America if you like!

If you don't mind me asking, Jess, how are you handling Section 2257 compliance ? Operating your own website / webcam makes you both a 'primary' and 'secondary' producer of adult material.

I don't care to have a personal site, a lot more work and all the promo... ontop of I don't care to have my face full on a website like that. But anyways, I think building a fanbase @ a camsite THEN launching a solo site is most profitable.

And I make around $200-$400 a day camming, and I don't do anything hardcore like penetration.

No one has ever built a fan base on a cam site worth promoting a solo site to. Also working your ass off on cam sites is a LOT more work than doing a personal site. But if you don't wish to have a solo site (and bust your ass doing the same thing over and over all day) then more power to you.

Ok, I have to add my 2 cents here after reading this entire thread because I've been doing webcam shows since 2002.

How much money you make depends on your look, niche, how much you advertise (via free links online or paid links elsewhere), and how much time you're willing to put into actually being available online daily.

On the average - a new webcam girl will probably make $100 a day - HOWEVER being that economic times are tough, expect about $60 a day. You can increase this amount by being hooked into multiple networks simultaneously however.

After about 3 months you will have an established audience so you'll probably rake in around $150 to $250 a day IF you're doing your shows consistently and again, are on multiple networks.

I don't suggest you necessarily stick with the networks that have the highest payouts, because they MIGHT NOT have the most traffic. For example - ImLive.com has a payout of around 35% which may seem low, BUT they have a TON of traffic where as newer cam sites such as OnHerCam.com may have a payout of 50% or more, but may have very little traffic (paying viewers).

The young lady who stated that putting your time into building your own website is DEAD ON POINT. If you're going to webcam, having your own members site really helps a lot. It helps in creating a solid fanbase in eventually you may wind up only doing camshows directly through your site rather than through a network. Running your own shows directly through your site can amp up your earnings substantially.

Having some porn flicks under your belt can draw more viewers to you via name recognition - but you definitely don't need to do porn in order to be a successful webcam girl. I know webcam girls who have NEVER done porn who make more than I do. Doing porn is a TOTALLY different ball game than other areas of the adult industry (such as exotic dancing) - I strongly suggest that you visit my website (it is totally free information) and my blog: before even thinking about doing porn.

The porn business is in a total state of restructuring, so now is NOT to think about that avenue - at least from my perspective.

I have to add that Fattorossi's GF is an exception to the norm when it comes to the rates that she can charge for her webcamming because she's been in porn/the adult industry for a VERY long time - according to iafd.com she's been performing in porn over a decade (since 1996) - and therefor most likely has an established large fanbase from performing in porn (On top of that she has hosted shows, events and even directs her own xxx content which has probably expanded her audience even further). Most women in porn do not charge in the range of $10 per minute for a webcam show and if they do, they don't make consistent money.

Actually most women in porn don't do cam shows consistently at all - a porn girl is a different breed from an exotic dancers or non-porn webcam girl.

Most of my best customers were my customers far prior to my ever getting into the porn industry. Since doing porn yea, I have more traffic to my website than I did prior but truthfully, in my view if a woman simply maintains a consistent webcam schedule and creates a nice members website for herself she can do just as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks monica for your post you and jess are both on point but lemme add this. Camming on those BIG sites like imlive, webcams and streamate is not the only type of camming. You could also become an independent camgirl and rake in 75-85% of your money depending on who you're processing payments through. Independent camming is another way of camming ..and yes you can do this WITHOUT a website but having a website or a simple blog is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED so your fans will know where to find you. Now how do you become an independent camgirl?...first list on independent camgirls sites and promote promote promote and guys will email or contact you through yahoo, msn, skype or icq for webcam shows...and there you'll accept their payment first THEN do the show. I've been doing this for almost 3 years now and on and off for the past two months and I LOVE IT. So don't limit yourself to those big sites.

And to the OP, camming income is very individualized. It depends on the girl I've made 500-700 a day camming. You just have to know what works for you. 150-250 a day camming to me is not worth it to me. Check out these sites:

Niteflirt
xxxcambabes

I've made bank on both of these sites alone..I hope this helps.

I know of 3 girls who left CWH to do solo sites and quit CWH because they have such a big fanbase they only need the solo site. So, it obviously can and has been done :) It is a good way to build a fanbase.

Thanks malaya. Yea, I definitely want to do the split cam. I signed up for cams.com, but they rejected my application because they said my documents were too dark. I re scanned them and am thinking of applying again with a different model name. I am also wanting to try xxxcambabes. But thanks for letting me know it's normal, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, giving away too much for free or not flirting enough.

Hey girl, No prob but try reuploading your docs on cams.com. The site is really good for shows/traffic. While on xxxcambabes..all you'd have to do is log in to the site and guys will start iming you for shows...please remember not to give any freebies on yahoo messenger..xxxcambabes makes you upload a preview vid so guys shouldn't have to ask you for a "preview" I hope this helps..Good Luck!

I've been working on cams.com for almost a month now. I have since received/cashed my first check, which put to rest any fears about not getting paid.

It's hard at first. There's definitely a webcam hustle that I had to learn, but I'm getting the hang of it. I'm now regularly making $40- $50/hour, which is what I usually net average dancing in the club on a decent night. (compare to the $10-20/hour my first week!) And I know I can do even better than that.

A few more weeks of this, and I might very well go independent. But for now, cams.com is working out brilliantly.

That said, I have a few things that work in my favor:

- I have a nice new logitech 9000 cam

- I have a fast, new computer

- I have high speed internet

- I am part of easy demographic to sell (white, young, slender, big fake boobs)

- I always do my hair, makeup, nails, tan, shaving, EVERYTHING perfect.

Your mileage may vary.

I just started doing cam only since nf went down. I had a macbook witha great built in webcam..but it broke so now I have a pos dell with built in webcam that's not as great quality. If you split your cam feed when you have a better quality cam is the feed still going to be good or will it be grainy?

I want to get out of the strip club because I hate guys trying to grab me and touch me. I stopped being a dancer and started selling tooters around this time last year because I can't hustle as well as most girls, especially because I don't like getting too close to the guys anymore due to fear of having my ass grabbed. (My club has gotten ridiculously lax on the rules for customers.) I would love to work in the morning and afternoons because that is when my fiance works and I currently never get to see him. Our bills are about $4000 a month and I'm currently working 55 hr weeks. I want to know if and how I can do this, starting out only doing it on my one day off due to lack of financial leeway to take risks. I do want to start up my own site but will not be able to start working on that until Thanksgiving. Any advice?

Hi Little Goth Doll - well if you are lookign at working when your fiance is out I assume it'll be 5 days a week.
So if you need to make $4000 a month that means after the camsites take their cut you need to be making $200 a day 5 days a week.

This is totally achievable IMO, especially if you plan to splitcam.

But remember if you only do one thing invest in a good cam, I just got a Logitech 9000 for £48 (they were almost double that) so there are good ones that are cheaper now.

With a good quality cam you'll be able to take half decent pics for your profile (which will save you having to fork out for a digital camera), and HD movies for your profile.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on xx

Okay, I hear what Jess is saying and all .... however... what about the girls like myself who do not care to have a "career" in web camming? Webcamming is my third income source. Not my first. Not my second. Third. Thus my energy and time is mainly devoted to my first two naturally .... so having a members site is a lot of work for me when I don't plan on doing web camming full time or even part time.

 Goodness.. I have a hard time devoting the min 3 hrs a month sometimes IMLIVE requires of me to stay current/on their books. The reason I don't mind the shite pay-out of IMLIVE is that I don't have the desire nor inclination nor time to build a members site and go independent.

For those who are wanting to do webcamming as their primary or secondary income ... I agree with you Jess and everyone else who said to go independent esp. if you see yourself doing it for quite a few years (or just want to make good money with it).

I'm being realistic and thinking worst case scenario.

My goal is to make 80 bucks a day, working from 6 to 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, with that, I can cover all my bills and have some money saved.

I think that amount is reasonable and possible, who knows.

I have been camming for just under a month and, even though I am also with Adultwork, I have only done DirectCam once for a couple of hours, which got me 55 credits (in GBP and before the site's 30% was taken). Since I barely ever do Adultwork, I only really count as my DAILY income, what I make at Streamate.

I started with anywhere from $100 ot $150 a day but since the start of my third week, I have been making about $200 to $250 a day, putting in whatever hours are necessary to make at least $200 and, if the traffic is being good and I am not too tired, I stay longer to make more.

How long do I work to reach that? Well, sometimes (when I am really lucky) it happens in 4 hours or so, sometimes it takes 8. There are no guarantees in camming and some days are better than others.

I don't splitcam though. Haven't quite figured out how I can do that sucssefully, but I am hoping I'll find the perfect sites to work at the same time and find a good strategy to make it work well. Just the thought of possibly doubling my daily income, makes me really eager to try splitcamming but I don't want to mess up and end up making less each day because I couldn't keep up with two sites at the same time.

LOL coming back to my zombie thread as it was called :) I am making considerable less these days ugh :( I switched to the non sex stuff so that could be part of the issue :( I am on imlive friends and romance section and make like 100 bucks for a day, and I stay online as long as it takes to make at least 100... It sucks right now because there are a lot of girls getting desprate and dropping their rates to like 1.98 plus discounts! I mean as a hall of fame host I make like 69 cents a min so if you do the math it takes me a few hours of prvts to make my goals these days :( oh well it could be worse right? lol

For some reason I don't like doing this, but here goes *knocks on wood*

I aim for $200-$300/day. Sometime I quit when I come up short but I have enough $300+ days to make up for it.

My highest paying day this month so far is $442.04 (still trying to beat last months day of $531.69) . Lowest paying day worked (although i dont think i put in much time) would be $78.69.

I've also made an additional $75 this month so far in offline video sales via SkinVideo. I also was given a $25 amazon gift card, and purchased an item from my wishlist.

I haven't cammed in a couple days so hopefully it'll go up tonight, but right now I'm ranked #419 on MFC. Couple days ago it was #32x I think.

What I do:
*I've been camming consistently since August.

***I don't cam 40hr/week, but I cam enough that i make my goals. Basically instead of setting an hours goal, I pick and amount of $$ i want to make an don't sign off until I get there.

*I have several videos that I sell on MFC.

*I don't really do countdowns or games. I start them, then abandon them because I'm impatient.

*I don't normally sign of when it's slow. Convincing myself to stick around "just a little longer" truly makes all the difference.

*I work multiple sites

*I network like a boss.

There you have it.

I feel that with how much I make per hour, I should be making a lot more daily/weekly. But I can usually only cam for about 3 hours before I start to get really worn out.

I'm trying some new toys in different materials to see if that helps. And I'm also trying to think of more soft core shows I can do to fill in time between my cum shows.

Not to hijack this thread but…How do you girls do it? I mean, cam for 6-8 hours a day? My vagina could not handle it. Or at least couldn't handle it 2 days in a row. So what's your secret?
