I use Essential CLA Pure Tonalin CLA Complex 1000 mg IRON-TEK, bought at Nutrition Depot. I think Nutrition Depot only has stores in Texas. You can order them directly from http://iron-tek.com/

Update - No more breakouts and the Milk Thistle really took care of the bloating. I have lost the tiny bit of fat on my sides and back. Yay! It was only visible if I turned really far to the side with my back kinda arched, it would sorta wrinkle up. (Does anybody know what I'm talking about, I've seen this on tons of girls?) It was bugging the crap outta me and now it is gone! Tummy seems about the same, but I've never carried much fat there, legs seems the same, but with NO bumps or uneven texture.

Now if I could only get rid of the small bit of fat on the top of my inner thighs. It has annoyed the hell outta me since I was a teenager. I soooo want the little see through triangle between the thighs that skinny girls have ( I barely have an inch between my thighs at the top, BOO). I was freakin 80lbs at one point and that fat was STILL THERE! I looked like a damn skeleton, but had these tiny bulges. :-[

The milk thistle + dandelion did the trick. It wasn't instantaneous (it took 5 wks from my last post), but w/discipline I stuck to it and it worked! First, I bloated up for a few more weeks. I started to get discouraged, wanted to quit my workouts + be lazy. But then my body went into cleansing-mode, nature called (a little too frequently) and now I can see the results of my workouts w/the Tonalin! Thanks to all for such wonderful advice! ;D

PROS
skin: smoother, brighter, firmer, improved elasticity
hair: longer + shinier
body: toned, more defined, bigger boobs, looser clothes

CONS
skin: oily eyelids (eyeshadow keeps sliding off) + oilier overall
hair: breakouts around my hairline + lack of volume
body: nausea in the morning for the first week (not pregnant), frequent trips to the bathroom (#1 + #2)

Has anyone had any issues with bloating when they first start CLA? I noticed within a few days that my pants were looser, but my face and even arms, are looking a bit....flabby, puffy, etc.

I snapped a couple of photos to make sure this wasn't in my head and compared them to a few from a couple of weeks ago (I've lost weight since then), but nope, I was correct. I'm looking WAY puffy and have mega dark circles under my eyes.

Anyone?

I started taking it over the weekend- that is NOT the kind of bloat I'M having...:-[

NEVER taking it again. I'm trying to keep myself from having a heart attack right now. My heart keeps racing & feel like I'm going to go into cardiac arrest. How do I get the effects to ware off? I'm eating food but nothing is helping with that rapid heartbeat effect.

Are you taking the Thermo CLA from GNC? I had the same thing happen when I tried it, but it know was due to the caffeine in it, not the CLA itself. There is 180 mg in two pills of the Thermo CLA - more than in a cup of coffee! I definitely would not recommend Thermo CLA unless you already regularly ingest caffeine and are used to the effects.

You guys got me excited so I started to do my homework on CLA and found this:

"Studies show, CLA safely decreases body fat four ways:
Decreases the amount of fat stored after eating
Increases how fast fat is broken down in fat cells
Increases the rate of fat metabolism
Decreases the total number of fat cells in our bodies"

#4 SEEMS bogus because adults do not reduce the number of fat cells in our body. When we lost fat, we decrease the volume of the cells, not the number. Only lipo - which actually removes the fat cells - reduces the number. I have a hard time believing any of the claims IF #4 is factually incorrect.

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/107043.php
This is commonly accepted fact, not a random article which may or may not be correct. The way in which adults lose weight is well known and antithetical to the stated benefits.

Can anyone find research indicating how this product does something that is not typically possible?

Spank_Thru69: Which CLA are you taking? Regular Tonalin CLA is just a healthy fatty acid, whereas Thermo CLA provides caffeine & green tea which increases energy and metabolism.

Every 2 capsules of Thermo CLA = 180 mg caffeine (about 2 cups of coffee), so be sure to eat something each time you take it (I know that pills can act funny on an empty stomach!) & drink your water.

I already have abnormally rapid heartbeat (tachycardia), so that extra caffeine would have me on the floor outta breath!

Take Care

Well, I jumped on the Tonalin bandwagon, too! I started at 207. I've been taking it for about 2 weeks & I'm down to 203. I'm also taking Hoodia, Acai, Fenugreek, Milk thistle, saw palmetto & papaya enzyme. I cut out sodas this week & have only been drinking 100% fruit juice & water. I cut out fried & bread this week too. My goal is 180-190.

I hope everyone is careful when taking these pills. I was reading on yahoo yesterday that one company pled guilty to labeling and saying pills does something they really don't do. I wish I can think of the name, but I can't remember it. Just cause the bottle may say it doesn't mean it does it. They brought in over 15 mil between 05 and 06. It's better to talk to your dr about vitamins and new weight loss regimines you're trying to do. Exercise and eating healthy is the best way to go!:)

^^^Party Pooper lol

I'm down to 200 now. But I've also changed my eating habits & I'm more active now that I'm back in school. If i could find a good tennis partner I know the rest would be gone in no time. Any tennis players in GA?

ECGC (green tea) pills and Fish oils will help you burn stored body fat, slow down aging, repair some aging (antioxidants) lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and help with your mood. I really can't say enough about how good fish oils are!

ChoclatDiva21
09-04-2009, 03:40 PM
Oh, believe me- I know all about the fish oils & the green tea! I take those, too! I'm popping capsules all day long lol! And I think I must be doing something right because NOBODY thinks I'm anywhere near 40!

Oh, well I was always jealous of how African American women do NOT age!!! They all look 10-20 years younger than their age, it's ridiculous, they don't get wrinkles!

iv taken tonalin on and off for years. iv never though whilst taking it i was bloated but after reading this i thought...mmm..maybe i am a little bloated and if i take the milk thistle and dandelion il be EVER MORE slimmer.

im not convinced! i feel more puffy on my hips and arms and my belly for definate! even though im training well, eating well and my skin is the softest its ever ever been as per usual with tonalin - im not feeling the effects as fast as i did without the dandelion etc.

has anyone else preferred just tonalin on its own?

Hey everyone, so I stubbled across this thread in the back pages and decided to go for it. I bought my first bottle of Tonalin after work today and I will be starting it tomorrow morning. I am trying to lose 30lbs, so I am hoping that with this, diet and exerscise I will be able to get rid of my damn tummy! I have lost a pound in 2-3 days so far, so I am hoping that this will amp up the process and keep the momentum going. My goal is to lose at least 5lbs in this first two weeks. Cross your fingers!

I have noticed my skin breaking out a little (I NEVER break out) but it could possibly be due to stress/lack of sleep.

For those of you that are taking milk thistle along with CLA, I have a question? How do you know that the milk thistle isn't taking away any of the benefits from the CLA? Or from any other good fat/vitamins for that matter? I'm curious:)

THREE CHEERS FOR TONALIN!...I think? Nooo it has to be the Tonalin, because I'm good, but not THAT good. So instead of waiting to start taking it this morning, I decided to take my first two capsules (1,000mg each) last night. I figured I may as well jump start the process now. And when I weighed myself half an hour ago (first thing in the morning) I was down another three pounds. 3lbs in 24 hours??? I know that wasn't all my work because last night I decided to splurge and have an extra cheese bun (cheese cooked into the bun not cheese added to the bun) and 1/4 of a chocolate bar for my chocolate fix and this morning I'm 3 POUNDS LIGHTER! WOO HOOO!! Praised be to the diet gods I may be free of my belly pudge at last. I love you ladies, thanks for letting me in on the secret.

Kisses to you all!

Hm. I'm tempted. I've noticed since I've started dancing that I'm trimming down but I still have this stubborn pudge in my front that makes me look prego when my uterus has always had it's "VACANCY" sign flashing.

So get the "Tonalin" brand? How many pills do I take at a time? I hear you guys popping these left and right like vicadin, holy jesus.

OMG I am sooo tempted to try this, but I am scared.

I don't take medicine usually unless it's life or death (or keeps me from getting preggers). I don't even take Tylonol (processes' through the liver)

Someone convince me! I am sensitive to caffeine even though I drink it every day. I don't like feeling speedy, will it make me feel speedy?

Also, does it suppress your appetite? I would not want that, as I am trying to get in to the habit of eating regularly.

There's no caffeine or stimulants in it (unless you buy some that do have it). There are no appetite suppresants.

Buy the milk thistle to help your liver process it. Really, if you think about it, these supplements are just big doses of what we already get (or should be getting) through our diets. CLA is naturally found in dairy products, it's just that dairy is so chock full of fat and calories and all that other gunk that piling on the cheese will give an adverse effect to what we're really eating it for!

I get the kind from Vitamin World OR I get the kind that comes in a huge bottle called Essential CLA with a yellow label and dark brown glass at Super Supplements. I take 2 in the morning and 2 at night which is 4000mg a day. I just restarted taking it yesterday but I had good results before. You might want to consider taking L-Carnitine WITH Tonalin CLA.

Huh.

I took three CLA pills before bed last night (picked up a bottle at GNC before they closed) and two Milk Thistle pills.

This morning I woke up and was kinda shocked to see how bright my face looked! Wow!

Still waiting to hear back from the gal that had to go to the doctor. I'm wondering if the pills she took had caffeine or some other stimulant.

The Milk Thistle from Trader Joe's has both together. If you live in an area with a Trader Joe's you should get this one. It's like $7.99 a bottle and works very well. I've been taking this brand since April and love the results!

Woohoo. My face is so bright now guys. I have to work with lot of cleaning chemicals every day and because of that my face is constantly broken out. For the past year there has been no amount of scrubbing, exfoliating or moisturizing that would get rid of this acne. And then yester day POOF! Gone, all gone! Its fantastic! I was jumping around and showing my boyfriend how clear my face was, buuuut appereantly he never actually noticed that my face had broken out in the first place, lol. God I love him, hahaha. But yeah, no more acne, whoo hoo.

Yes, CLA really helps to improve the overall condition of your skin. You will also see that as you start losing weight your skin around your body will not sag. This is very important because often when a person has a significant amount of weight loss the body's skin does not return to its normal elasticity. It just kind of lays there on the body and sags. This is not a good look! CLA will keep everything tight and toned! Even my breasts stick out like headlights and I'm a natural C - D Cup! Girl, I don't even need a bra anymore!

Think I am gonna try this as soon as I have the extra couple bucks. I have always had perfect, porcelain skin until right before I turned 30, then bam! pimples and dry flakes.

This sounds like a miracle pill. Wonder if it would solve my money troubles too, Bwa ha ha ha

This had occurred to me too. Many natural supplements can make BC ineffective. Sometimes you can ask a pharmacist, advice nurse or look on lists on the net.

Before I take any of it, milk thistle or otherwise I will check it out first.

I think Tonalin is something we get in our food anyway, or should get more of, but we dont, hence the suppliment. Obviously we out over taking it here (5/6 capsuls a day rather than the recomended 3), but Im pretty sure it shoudnt affect BC.

Anyway, I just wanna ask if anyone nails have gone really strong on Tonalin? Mine are so hardcore now Im ripping through every emery board I use! My nails are in a state as Iv destroyed ever emery I use within 10 seconds! Im not eating any different, so Im blaming Tonalin.
Anyone else?

I'm a skeptic, but I'll say this about tonalin: I have a pretty rigorous regimen to keep cellulite off my ass. I started taking tonalin a while back just to see if it would make a difference. The cellulite's gone, which could be any number of things: endermologie, hardcore workouts, tonalin. But... I did go away for two weeks and forgot to bring the tonalin. I kept up the workouts. When I got back, the cellulite was creeping back to my thighs. Took tonalin again, kept up the workouts, and it's gone.

There's no question in my mind that working out is the most important thing. But I'm not ready to dismiss tonalin as a placebo.

I've been taking it for three or four weeks but unfortunately, it's also making me bloated. I have started taking milk thistle pills in hopes that it will help combat that effect but if it doesn't improve in the next few days, I'm going to have to give up. :(

Sucks b/c my skin has become *very* soft, particularly on my face, neck, and hands.
