She comes up with a new one every day. We should find out the sex in a week, so I expect it to start in earnest then...

So it's the wife's birthday. We're going on a trip this weekend, so that her real present, but for today, I just bought her a standard "Glad you're my wife" card. The I bought a Happy Birthday Mommy card with some roses and wrote "I Love You Mommy" in childish printing and put the roses and card in the bassinet... guess who was crying when she got home?

Should know on Friday
vmurph, at my age I am more into grand kids as opposed to kids but I do remember the anticipated joy you are enjoying seeing your first born come into this world. My advice (which I am sure you have already figured out) enjoy every second of it. Before you know it the kid will be asking for the keys to the car ;D

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but this even started to choke me up a bit.

It's a boy!
Congrats!!
I know for whatever reason men seem to feel that having a boy is proof of their manliness and virility..So enjoy calling and bragging to all your friends!! ;D
Then when your done, you might wanna start preparing for the inevitable pee in the face!! }:D

Only way I'm using the "manliness" thing is because my brother has had 4 daughters. It will be fun to tease him, but, beyond that, it's random, so virility doesn't come into it (so to speak).
I actually kinda wanted a daughter to be daddy's little girl, but I am excited about a son too! Maybe a daughter the next time...

That's so exciting. I'm obsessed with baby names for some reason. I love to hear about people's ideas for naming their kids, maybe because I have such an unusual story behind my own real name (my parent's were radical hippies for awhile and named me after an Irish terrorist they knew) I don't think I ever even want kids myself, but I have full names picked out anyways.

Well, going with the Irish theme, her current favorite is Liam. She also mentioned Sean. I think she wants their name to thematically fit with my last name... (which MY first name does not...).

I love when people pair Irish first names with Irish last names. Liam and Sean are both such nice names.

LoL no it doesn't now that you mention it. That's an interesting mix for your name. Kinda unique though so that's a good thing. My name is so common that if you call it in a busy store literally a dozen ppl will look up.

I'll admit my experience with one daughter and one son were radically different but I love both. Congrats man!

Congrats on your little man Perry! Yeah, the pee thing is inevitable. If you're lucky it hits you and not them. Never seen anything madder than a 3 mos old that just peed in his own face! Wow, that was scary! Sorta like facing down the apocalypse...only scarier! :D
Lay the new diaper over it as soon as you take the old one off and just reach under to wipe clean. ;) Helped avert many catastrophies.

I learned that trick early. Now if I could just get them to stop puking on me I'd be golden....

I gotta ask...do they do this on purpose? It kinda seems like they do it on purpose.

LoL! You mean that little smile and giggle that comes right after you get squirted?? Nah... that can't be on purpose! ;)

They do have a knack for doing it after getting nice and clean from a bath, or right before company comes over and they're in a cute new outfit.
