Wow I was about to move to LV to make a few grand a night, but now I guess I'll stay in RI and make my usual 500 a night. Oh well.

There is no place on earth where you'll make "a few grand a night". That is an old bullshit myth, perpetuated by greed, fantasy and ignorance.
Plus, these days, if you're making a consistent $500 a night, you better stay put.

Eh - I know girls that made 4 figures a night very consistently a few years ago. I remember overhearing one of the top girls at Scores leaving one night, talking on her phone - PISSED that she'd made $800 in 4 hours. "I can't believe I bothered to come in for this shit. $800 for coming in on one of my regular nights off. Fuck this, they better never call me in again" was the exact quote IIRC, lol.

The reason why I got into the whole stripping thing was cuz this girl I was go go dancing with at a regular club told me that she was making 1500-2500 a night, anda this was a few months ago. now I realize she may have exaggerated, there is no way in hell u can make that much a night in CT.

It's been interesting to see replies all over the map on this subject. We've seen everything from: "Yes, it's terrible and I'm moving"
to "No, it's good money every time I work".
I also talked to another wise dancer live in Vegas who said she'd never tell how good she has it at her small club because that would draw hundreds of new girls there!!
We saw a pretty huge spike from the Time Magazine article at SGR (http://www.stripandgrowrich.com).

I'll spill the beans! One of my TE's spent 4 days working in Vegas the week before we were out there= @ SPR, Saphires & Rick's.
1) HATED SPR although she made about $500,
2) HATED Saphires because even though she made about a grand one night, she only made about $30 the other night because she got sick of the tourists that "just had to see the largest strip club in the world".
3) LOVED Ricks's with a passion and hopes to go back asap. It was her last stop with the few days she had to experiment with Vegas clubs and was mad that she didn't try it out first. Overall, Ricks was the winner with a take-home of $1400 on a Sat night (on her first ever night working there).
I don't think those #'s are anything to shake a stick at!?

Saphire turned you down?! Knowing what I know of you from CJ, you shouldn't have ad a problem there. Unless they just have way too many girls or they've changed their policies...? And Rick's - wow - I've seen some pretty homely girls there, and lots of ink, too - again, full maybe?
Yes, there is still good money to be made here. One of MM's freinds did a weekend split between Deja Vu and Sapphire a couple months ago and made $2400 in 2 days, one of those days being under $700 so over $1,700 on the other. Note that I'm saying "day" and not shift. She working 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. at one, and noon to 5 a.m. the next to pull that in.
Especially if there is a convention or other special event in town (as always) the money can be made. But it's not nearly as consistent as it used to be. There are still girls banking, but they're working harder for it, and there are fewer of them pulling in those numbers. The ones that are see bigger swings too - that same girl mentioned above worked the same two clubs the same two "shifts" 2 weeks later and pulled in $900. Not bad, but less than half, and working over 12 hours a day...

^^ Yup. I'm officially moving out. Put down my apartment deposit yesterday here in Austin, and I am DREADING going back to LV tonight and working the next 5 days.
For the OP, it is so bad that when I was projecting my potential moving money, I was only estimating making $150/shift. And I thought I was being generous.
You will have much better luck in Austin. I LOVE Austin! I make so much freaking money there...

They both told me they were full on night shift. I went back to Rick's every damn week in July, and still no dice. And I'm not fat or ugmo either. I didn't get it.

mediocrity, do you mind me asking where in Austin you are working?
I'm currently not dancing (I left the country and am starting a new semester, so I'm kind of unavailable) but I remember being scared to death that when I would try and come back to work, there would be nothing left in Austin. So glad to hear this place is turning out to be one of the good places left.

I went to Treasures on Wednesday after all the hoopla of the GentClub Expo was dying down, and it was pretty bad. There were several groups of out of shape girls all hanging at the bar with major approach avoidance. This strikes me weird. What about dancing when it was taboo (5 and 10 years ago) made the entertainers better? Now that strip clubs are more mainstream, it seems the talent level (especially conversation skills) has really dropped. Any ideas?

Treasures is not exactly thought of as an upscale LV club. Never been. There was Ricks (formerly Scores), Sapphires, Spearmint Rhino, the new Badda Bings, a few others that are targeted at the upper scale and are pretty strict about who they hire.
But that said while I won't judge anyone's looks too strongly, but the fact is that long ago few women would the job and for a club to have 6-8 dancers rotating on stage was quite a lot. There was also a time when I do think clubs were far more choosy, even when the lap dance era started. Today with the dramatically reduced social stigma of dancing, with more women believing they can make thousands every night, plus the house-fees business model that all but negates any risk to the club owner to hire more dancers, yes it does seem many clubs are primarily interested in quantity over quality. /shrug

There is a glut of girls "resorting" to dancing here because they can't find other work. The clubs are slow as hell, and over-hire to make the house fees. And day shift - even at the Bing, and it's really bad at treasures - never has the hottest girls.

There's a lot of conventions going to Vegas now because there are a lot of good deals to be had. Will be going there soon!

Perhaps the economy leaves many dancers in poor spirits. Also, with less money to go around there is much less reward to those who look and sell their best.
The money that used to be there drew in lots of beautiful girls, some from out of state that hustled their butts off. Now... those girls are just not coming to vegas. Some girls that used to be dancers are also modeling and working day jobs. .

I disagree. Treasures was considered an upscale club and on the top of the list for many for quite a while there. Badda Bing though has never been, and the hiring process over there pretty much consists of "you got lady parts? You're hired!"
I stand corrected. Maybe I'll check it out next time I'm in Vegas ;)

I won't argue with Guenevere, but in my experience/in my opinion, Treasures always seemed like a really good fake Rolex, lol. It never really FELT like an upscale club the way Sapphire and Scores did.

That club did well for a hot minutes between April 08 and July 08. Then nada. All the it chicks left. I only went back there my last month because there were so many ugmos it was easy pickings.
The fact that they still don't have their permanent license is sort funny to me.

I must have missed the joke, what's funny about a struggling club who's able to do well and then suffers in a poor economy? And why does a comment about hiring standards being low imply that I don't support a club?
sowwwwy didn't mean to offend. :'(

I can attest to two strippers leaving Vegas, one in disguise as a pilot.
Was waiting in the airport and thought, "Hmm, that's odd, shouldn't she be in the pilots' lounge instead of waiting here with the rest of us?" Then, I noticed "Gee, that sure is a very reflective blue blouse for an airlines uniform.... wouldn't the sequins play havoc with her night vision in the cockpit?" Then it occurred to me that she's been flying low over the valley of the pants for years and could no doubt fly unaided on instruments alone. I realized I wanted her in the cockpit very much. Alas, different flights. (Maybe she was hoping the pilot was cute and wanted the option of putting some moves on him?)

Vegas update - it's gotten a little better, but not much. Still waaaaaaayy too many dancers and not enough customers. Ricks closed down and 400 more dancers spread out to the other clubs on top of it all. Money can be made, but it seldom comes easy.
