All in all, follow your head before your heart in this situation. Today's job market and social population is a competitive one, and you need to have high motivation and good self esteem to make yourself employable. (As well as an attractive potential mate). I believe that self preservation and being honest with yourself will serve you well, and this heartache will seem small in the grand scheme of your life once it is all said and done.

I like this. I get so sick and tired of hearing 'follow your heart', etc. in these threads. Usually following the heart is what started the whole problem anyway!

Not to criticize Christyismyalias in any way. I was a 'kept man' for a while, due to 'following my heart' and it sucked (long story, not for here). Live and learn...

You are completely right. If you don't use your better judgement then you can't place all the blame on the other person if things go further south after you had clear warning. I feel like too often women get caught up in the idea of having a fairy tale romance, when really they need to wake up and face reality. It is true that the maturation of cognitive thinking skills, (like reasoning and using logic to solve problems), isn't fully developed until age 25, but you should still be able to make basic choices and identify a bad situation.

No problem, I have a lot of respect for the women (and men) on SW and I'll try to help any way that I can!
