girl, these cars look dangerous as hell!
Theyre actually really fun to ride.
If I could go anywhere it woulod be New Orleans, New Jersey or I'm strongly thinking about the Seattle area its so beautiful.
I always dream about it but dont have the balls to do it.

If I had the complete choice I would go anywhere cold. I love winter and snow and ice. Makes my day all good. As long as I have my family on the other end of the phone or computer then I can make it on anywhere. But since my husband is re-uping in the military...who knows where we are going? lol.

I think you may well be the first person I have EVER heard say this! ;)

Depends, but likely back to Southern California, Huntington Beach or south of there. Alternatively to the Bay Area north.

Re OP: are you an Ohio native?
I am not an ohio native. I am teh fuck out of here as soon as I graduate so I can migrate south for the winter. I dont blame you for wanting to leave.... I think there are a lot more opportunities in cities outside of Ohio. The rust belt is not exactly a gold mine.

Camille : Have you thought of Austin or somewhere else in TX ? I'm not sure if you are thinking of doing somewhere long term, but you could get out of the cold for the next 4 months in TX. I am not looking foward to wintern in Utah.

Some years ago, the US military spent some millions of dollars compiling a psychological questionnaire that would allow them to determine where to post soldiers. Obviously a soldier that prefers heat will perform better in a hot climate than one that prefers cold.
After spending several million dollars on the questionnaire they found the best way of determining preferences was simply to ask the soldier where they preferred to be posted.
A point amply proven by pixie.....

I wish it could be warm and snow. I love snow. I just can't stand the below zero temps and biting wind.

if you were going to pick up and move to a different city for whatever reason (starting over after a bad relationship, sick of where you live now, whatever), where would you move to and why?
I have done this so many times that I have lived in every major city in the US I would consider living in. Every time, it has been a great experience; I average about 2 yrs per location.
So far I have lived in (in order):
Toronto
Halifax
Montreal
Vancouver
Ottawa
Tampa
Orlando
Seattle
Winter Haven
Atlanta
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Austin
That being said if money is no issue, I'd love to spend a few years each in the following locations:
Sydney
Brussels
Budapest
Barcelona
Edinburgh
Ljubljana
Oslo
Copenhagen
Stockholm

i thought about texas but again, i am poorly traveled, and he only states i know well are oh, ct, nj, and ny. so of course, texas and california and these things sound very satisfying, but also a little horrifying for someone like me who cannot even vacation properly.
But you said " if you could pick up and more anywhere " silly .........
So ... in order to have fun and talk, we can discuss anywhere .... but to really help you.... I guess you want to be somewhere close to where you are ? Think of it this way too. Everywhere in the U.S.A is actually very CLOSE. There are not many locations that are more than a few hundred dollars away by plane. If you had to bring stuff, you can drive the whole length of the US in 3-4 days.

This is fact. I have done it 8 times.

what if i get tired?
or lost?
or people say mean things to me?
i need to find a book that describes in great detail how to be fearless when traveling alone.

Tired: You take a buddy and trade off or you find a hotel.
Lost: Get a good Atlas. I've never gotten lost. Also, gas stations.
People Say Mean Things: Who gives a fuck you'll never see them again.

I found that most of the south is very friendly compared to the yanks. Texas and La. being the best. Also i am sure there are many young ladies on here that would prob help you get aquainted with whatever town you come into.

I had been through and exceptionally bad break up and found that we weren't capable of staying away from eachother regardless of the disaster that always followed. So I left the country. I have some distant family in Tel Aviv. So while I knew no one I knew that if I needed anything I could go to them. I did a ton of research about the city. Had some savings so I did in fact just pack my stuff up and just leave.
This was the same when my ex and I moved to Cali. We packed our stuff and actually camped (in a 5th wheel travel trailer) til we found a place to stay we liked.

Camille : Your fears are valid. They are why I live in Utah ( where I went to high school/college and where my family and most friends are ) even though I've done the vagabond thing. I've always come back here instead of saying " I'm going to live in xyz for 6 months " .
I'd highly recommend getting a GPS. They are amazing - you won't get lost and they can even help you find the kind of food you want ( seriously ..... mine has a fork image and it will find restaurants close ) .
You might want to try a smaller strip trip to get started instead of just moving. Go somewhere within driving distance and scout it out a week or two. You can meet a lot of people staying in hostels.
On the making new friends and getting to know people thing ....... I'm not good at that and need to try harder on this when I'm in CA. You might want to start by joining some other online groups based around your interests. That's actually what's pulled me out of my shell a bit and helped me meet more people.
You could always just rent your place out for a month or so and try a place first.

^ I'm retired for the moment. Bf was not big on the idea and the discomfort of knowing he might tell my family what I was up to was freaking me out. To be honest, the kind of cash I was making ( because I was only dancing occassionally ) wasn't really worth lying about and dealing with the stress. To make real stripper money, I would have needed to get into the grove more and just work more consistenly ( more regs ). I miss the performance aspects of it and the extra $, but are other things I don't miss.
