<3 this thread! a little about me:
I am 5'4" and tipped the scales at 200lbs, then I discovered pole dancing on youtube and bought an xpole and dropped over 30lbs! Now I am trying to get off those last few inches and pounds off so I can at least get started on my dream of stripping. I started at like 200lbs 44-43-44 or something around that and currently i am at 39-36-41 at 168lbs b/w/h. I really want to get rid of my gut! I do a ton of situps/v-ups/jack knives every day (over 1000 all put together) and use http://caloriecount.about.com/ to keep track of what im eating. I also use Wii Fit to weigh myself everyday, its really motivating to see your weight plummet on the cool little scale it has. I want to be at least 150lbs and have at least a 30in waist before I audition, id have alot more weight to lose but at least I wont be as fat anymore and might get hired. I aim to lose at least 2lbs a week! So far so good!
I just wanted to say that I love your story and the method you have used to drop your weight. I just found out that a fellow pole dancer I work with lost over 110 lbs. within a year's time. She is quite fit too and she did it naturally like you. Keep it up girl! Your doing great!

^ Chicken breasts, rolled in plain yogurt, and then rolled in a mix of sesame seeds, parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. You can add any seasoning to this you'd like. Bake in a 375 oven. You can also put some butter in the greased pan to give it more flavor.
Wait, is this the healthy thread? My bad! ;)

No weight loss this week, I stayed exactly the same haha.
But it beats gaining!
I started a new job this week, with drastically different hours than I'm used to (I have to wake up at 5am blah!) so my food/exercise habits suffered. I've made some provisions (like packing my lunch, going to bed sooner) so I'll get back on track this week.

One tip!
I am in LOVE with the South Beach Diet Living Fiber Fit Smores bars.
They are only 110 calories, and have 36% of your daily fiber requirements. They are insanely delicious! They're perfect for when I'm craving chocolate/something sweet.

See my probs are eating when im bored, as i work in a switchboard during the evening things can bore/stress me out. I have found taking the nintendo ds to work seems to be tackling that!

For the past 3 days I've been snowboarding in epic snow. 5ft. that fell over a 48 hr. period. 21 degree weather average and quite windy. Average about 6 hrs. per day. Saturday night I had too much garlic and tequila. Could not keep anything down. I actually rode for an hour on intermediately steep powdery hills on an empty stomach and dehydrated.
Smart? Not really, but I had to ride at least once on my last day. I don't have a scale, but if I didn't lose inches that way....there is something wrong.
However, I did eat today and made it to the gym for a 40 min. cardio and the best stretching I could do given my soreness. (I tried new tricks on my board, got caught in hip deep powder in which it took two hot skiers to bale me out, and tackled some moguls, so yeah, me so sore for stretching:-X)

I'm trying to lose 50 pounds and become stronger and toned. The sad part is its winter here so I can't do my end of the day walks yet but I will start using the bike I have for 20 minutes each day, weight every other day, and practice my dance moves for an hour every day. I mostly cut soda out of my diet but only to when I go out cause I don't drink. Now my problem is food.. I don't eat alot but my house is full of over fatting foods and little healthy foods.. I'm going to try to keep to healthy foods.. I'm just going to have to fight with the mate about my eating habits..

You ladies should think about buying a juicer. Mine is a beast...and it literally has taken my veges/fruit intake up to a whole new level. Who has the time or desire to sit down and munch on 9 servings of vegetables a day? You can use juicing as a meal replacement if you're on a diet. Have a glass of fresh carrot/apple/orange juice in the morning...SO good.
Sorry to sound like an infomercial, but I loooves my juicer. And I think other people would too. :)

^^ I asked my nutritionist if juicing is as good as eating the fruits and veggies, and she said as long as I am getting my fiber, it's just as good! Hooray!
I am wanting to lose about 15 lbs, get into the 130's like I was before I has my daughter.

So for January, I lost 4.5 lbs. Not bad, but I want to get smaller, faster!

I had whole grain pancakes w/syrup for breakfast (pure sugar, anyone?) with my Tonalin, but had a healthy lunch of diet bread, ground turkey breast taco meat, salsa, and an apple. And I am going to weigh myself tomorrow for the first time in about a month and a half. Nervous!

i cut sugar out of my diet about a week and a half ago and man have i been craving carbohydrates...like i could totally eat a half loaf of bread if i let myself. The "i want bread and pasta!" feeling is starting to subside a bit now, and i have to admit my skin looks amazing!
hmmm, and i've been thinking about buying a juicer. Recommendations?

^ Yesss!!! Buy the Breville juice fountain elite. It's expensive, but it makes juicing a fast, easy no-brainer. Carrots move through that thing like water!

Juicing is really awesome but there are so many more benefits to eating fresh fruits and veggies!
charlie61
02-02-2010, 02:53 PM
^ Agreed. But most people don't have the time or energy to eat 5 carrots, 2 apples, and an orange for breakfast. It takes a surprising amount of effort to consume as many veges/fruits as we should be eating. I'd rather drink mine on the way to school. At least this way I'm getting fresh (non-pasteurized) enzymes and vitamins instead of the processed glorified sugar that can be bought in stores.

^ I agree I love fresh juice. I have a carrot, celery, beetroot, ginger and lemon juice everyday. I really should get a juicer cause it's probably cheaper.
As for my healthy eating/ workout it all went out the window around Jan 14th and I just came back yesterday. I had a lot of people telling me I was "too skinny" me thinks they are just haters. Anyway I ate like a horse the last few weeks and didnt work out and I didn't gain anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions for staying healthy and fit without losing too much? I don't want to lose any more but I need to work out for my mental health. If I eat one sugary thing I can't stop and I end up eating crap for days on end.

I see the 'jack lulane' juicer infomercials on tv daily.. its super pricey though. I might have to save up now!
Any other weight lifters notice a change in their appetites? I started lifting 3-4 times a week, and I notice that I am much more hungry a few hours after working out. Also, it seems like I'm craving more calorie and protein rich foods, like a few hours after the gym I am dying for some steak and rice. It's a different kind of hunger, my stomach won't be growling but my body feels like it needs fuel, or something, I don't know maybe I'm crazy.

^ No I am the same. I have done weights since I was 16 and when I do heavy weights workouts I am a lot more hungry than usual. Like crazy hungry.

I am so upset! Just weighed myself this morning after using the bathroom, and I am 152.6lbs.
It's enough to make me want to give up on my nutritionist and go back to my ED. Or at least find a new nutritionist who will help me lose weight, rather than worrying about my ED/ getting me to a normal eating pattern (I now eat like an average healthy person).
It's so frustrating!

You ladies are kinda crazy! Why are you going by weight and not by appearance or measurements? Weight fluctuates a TON. I mean, if you have a glass of water in the morning, you'll 'gain weight.' Scales are inaccurate, etc. etc.
Go by what the mirror says. Like I've said before, I'm 5'7" and weigh 150+ lbs!! If I went by weight, I'd be depressed as fuck.
You ladies are all beautiful (I mean come on, most of you are strippers who make $$ off of your appearances). People envy your bodies.
As long as you're eating healthily and exercising, you'll be fine. Eat lots of fruits and veges, ignore your caloric intake (except for the occasional treat), and you won't need to take crazy OTC weight pills, worry you'll wake up having gained 10 lbs, et cetera.

Weight is an extremely inaccurate representation of your general body composition. You need to start measuring your body fat ratios. You can be 110 pounds and mostly fat, or you can be 150 and be mostly lean muscle.
Either way the scales will only give you a 2 dimensional representation of your physical status, and alot of people panic when they see their weight is too high, go on a crash low calorie diet, and put their bodies in a constant catabolic state, where they start actually using their own muscles to create more body fat; at that point, their weight might drop, but they are actually fatter than they were to start with.

I hear that...but I think obsessing over weight numbers is bad (especially since you're recovering from an ED, unless I'm mistaken). I think OCD is related to ED's...so having something like weight to freak out over could exacerbate your disorder.
I think going by what you see in the mirror, on the other hand, is fine. As long as your expectations are healthy.
Have you considered the raw food diet? It seems like it'd be a good thing for a person recovering from an ED to do. Fresh foods retain all of their natural enzymes and vitamins. So steaming broccoli basically kills a lot of what was originally so healthy about it. Maybe transitioning to a purist diet would help you, since you'd both lose weight and not have to worry so much about portions and whatnot?
papillonluvr

Ive thought about raw food, but I don't really like too many vegetables raw, and I would never be able to eat raw meat (except sushi).
Ill just call my dietitian and talk to her...
did my BF%-the thing at Bally's said 25% (VERY high compared to what I used to be at 21%), but she didn't use calipers, so it could be off a bit.

I need this too.
I was maintaining a super skinny 130 for almost a year and was a 0/2. My happy weight is like, 160. I've crept back up to 180 something...I didn't stay on the scale long enough to see if it was 183 or 187 ha ha. Got scared and jumped off.
I wanna lose 25lbs like, now.
I am 5'9''-5'10'' so 160 looks fit and trim on me. And I do gotta work at it but it's a good healthy working at it. Like avoiding cheetos and choosing carrot sticks instead. And moderate jogging a day or two a week.
It's totally a mental thing. I get mad that I'm chunking up...so I eat. UGH.

I'm doing a complete and total overhaul. I dyed my hair butterscotch blonde, I broke down and am getting a spray tan, and am going to get back down to 110.

I've been eating soup, soup, and more soup. I have been using chilis instead of salt. Also made my own broth, got inspired by watching Money Saving Meals on FoodNetwork.
Taking Diruex too... but only to help me with the water weight.
I will weigh myself soon :)

Update: 39-34-39 and 156!! 12lbs since first post yay. I finally cut out the 2% milk and switched to fat free only and now im only getting an average of 10 grams of fat everyday when before it was more like around 35 grams. hopefully now that im not getting much fat out of my diet my body will use its own fat instead?? I cut out soda as well and only drinking diet root beer, that stuff tastes good! and I hate other diet sodas. i still have too much sugar in my diet though. like 80 grams a day :-\ but everything i eat is health food! im gonna have to switch to special sugar free everything i guess

Just wondering if any of you ladies have experimented with food elimination? I've heard that women with allergies to common diet elements (like gluten, for example) can have problems losing fat because of their intolerances. In other words, even if you eat super healthily, you might not be able to lose weight because you have a gluten allergy (and are eating tons of whole wheat).
Maybe some of you are intolerant to dairy? Gluten? Just thought I'd mention it.
