^ Everything you said about a bra applies to any form of underwear that covers the nipples, though. Or even other forms of underwear that are even more fetishised - like corsets, suspenders. It doesn't elevate the bra above any other kind of bra shaped object like a bikini top.

i would say it elevates it more than just a standard triangle top.

a bikini top if like a swimsuit is also a fetishized item- think sports illustrated swimsuit issue. although i dont think its as fetishized as the bra.

corsets too, they cater to a fetish market.

bras i feel are a fetish that caters to a very wide market- most of american culture.

but i feel like just standard 2 piece stripper wear- it looks hot, but i dont feel like its fetishized in the same way bras are. i mean think about the amount of men who will fantasize about heidi klum or another VS model in her bra and panty set over jenna jameson or an equally hot porn star in an equally skimpy outfit, that is not a bra and panty set. bras are innately sexual in our culture, it is already naughty to see a girl in her bra since it is 'under'wear. not quite as naughty to see a girl in equally skimpy outer wear.

i would also like to add that i find it very comical that i am arguing over the culture significance of bra and panty sets :D. ahhh, i love SW.

XD I love this. However, I will concede I know nothing about male American cultural feelings on bras, having only been there once.

However, to me - they are definitely two different creatures to be used in two different sets, but I can't see one being better than the other. Bras, like stripperwear, are capable of being classy and tacky like a gluestick.

I mean we've all seen the tacky stripperwear thread.

haha... i took a women's studies class my sophmore yr. i remember that we had a 40 minute discussion on the bra. Not that my one women's studies class makes me an authority on anything, but i guess i kind of miss silly debates like this.

and yes, i will admit there are some bras that do just look plain ridiculous. but a simple cheap bra is ok. i guess some of the walmart/target bras that try to throw lace anywhere and everywhere do look obviously 'tacky.' but a lot acceptable in my bet.

I have 3 drawers of underwear, for the good of everyone's sanity I will not get started on how I feel about cheap bras UNLESS they are very, very simple. Like Primark (cheap as chips store here) trying to emulate the styles in the more expensive stores - always ends up looking atrocious. T-shirt bras and simple lace? Phew. Fine. Incredibly hard to do wrong unless you pick the wrong size, but that's nothing to do with the bra.

In all, lingerie can be hard to pull off but so can most stripper gear.

It's ok only if it's done in a very specific intentional way. To me, men either want SUPER SEXY STRIPPER or they want the fantasy of SEXY GIRLFRIEND.

FOH and VS do have some great looks that will work for the sexy girlfriend motif.

In some places though, you HAVE to wear your legal stripper bottoms though, no matter what.

On very rare occasions... you'll spot a girl it looks good on...
Mostly... I think it looks BAD.

I'm so new to dancing that I didn't realise that I was making myself look like a newbie but I guess in retrospect I was :(
I guess that i was wearing a mix like a fancy expensive lace bra with a stripper skirt and thong.

I have been buying sexier stripper clothes now that I'm making more money and bought a subtle green tube dress (stripper gear) in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day. I will be able to wear it all the time though, as well and it probably (almost certainly) glows under blacklight.

once i get implants i'll try stripperwear. until then, it looks stupid on me. my boobs are natural d cups and they need a bra. plus lingerie feels sexy.

though, even then i think i'll still look dumb in the stripper bikini sets and skirt sets and stuff like that. it's just not me.

like if i tried to walk around otc in trendy clothes or hipster clothes or something besides my usually jeans and a tank top. if you want to look sexy, you've got to be comfortable first.

I thought this, i tried quite a robust triangle bikini last week and it was ok, gna try again tonight and see how i feel but i will hav a bra with me in case i need to change! Im a natural D too so im never sure theyre displayed to their best advantage in a bikini!

I've got like, A-Cup boobs. Lately my push-up bra has become my new best friend ;)
Regular stripper triangle tops and most other stripper clothing doesn't have any padding in the bust area, because I guess the assumption is that all strippers have huge knockers :(

Lingerie can be good for covering up certain "problem" areas and accentuating the areas you wanna show off.

I think lingerie can be really sexy on strippers as long as it isn't mixed w/ obvious "stripper gear" in a tacky/awkward way. Like say, a lacy garter belt and stockings from VS w/ a UV-reactive lime green and hot pink bikini set :O

As a customer, I think the vast majority of stripper wear looks waaaay more tacky than lingerie. Just sayin'.

I wouldn't want to throw a $300 dollar bra on the floor :) I actually bought a babydoll when I was pregnant on my honeymoon, so I have a mental block when it comes to dancing in a babydoll, but I could see how some chicks could rock it.

It's kind of like the chick that wore pigtails and carried around a teddy bear, I find it disgusting but that chick banked, I also kind of think she was doing society a favour by helping some guys achieve that fantasy.

I think it depends on the club, location and if it looks good or not.

Like the short hair thread, some dancers can rock out while others bomb, I think it depends on the person and the outfit.

Wear what works for you, I agree on one thing regular heels in a club look silly, I have yet to see anyone rock that look in a club.

I dont like to see underwear bottoms... thats just weird to me. or anything from the PINK collection(see lots of girls down here w that) it does look a little amateur to me... but I suppose guys don't care. A lot of times I'll wear a cute lacy bra with stripper booty shorts... I seem to make pretty good money in that.

I have a bra and booty short set that it mesh and lace. It seems to always go over well and I usually get comments that guys think I look like the "girl next door type" in it (the custies at my club really go for this type of girl). I usually make pretty good money in it. Other than that, the rest of my gear is every day stripper outfits bought at jacked up prices which, also make money. I think it's all about the quality of then lingerie, the fit, etc. One look I hate though is wal mart thongs paired with a "stripper" outfit. oof. *shrug*
