Hey, Josie. I'm not on the defense at all I thought I made it quite clear I'm being reasonable and not against either side of this.
You aren't?
Like I said if it were a thread that simply said "Hey I got a message from a black girl who said she wasn't getting any business here are a few tips I gave her to follow that might make your camshow better and have worked for me and may work for you. Bright lights, no kids, pretty clothes etc" that would have been one thing, but like I said it's built on tearing others down for what one might consider to be a hot mess and unappealing to customers when none of us have any idea how successful or unsuccessful the "hot messes" are lol.
As I keep saying there are fetishes for everything so to say you watched a woman who didn't have her hair did or acne covered and that's a no no really has nothing to do with how successful she might or might not be. Some dude might be totally into that.
I'm sorry.. are you black? If you saw what I saw you'd know why I started this thread. Like I said, Yeah I'd look a hot mess on cam if I was banking off looking like that.. but if I'm not it wouldn't make any sense.
And Malaya I already AM a camgirl lol and I do quite well at it. I also wear multiple hats within the adult industry and have for years now and am successful with that too. I said in an earlier post that I myself prefer glamor over trashy even when I cam, but that's just me. I see other girls who do things and look like how I would never look, but I really can't judge their success. I used Nemesis as an example because I would never shave my face (if I grew facial hair lol) on cam. That's horribly unsexy to me (and I'm a domme myself!). I wouldn't be caught dead with ankle socks and a shaved head either .. but when I view her cam the guys seem to love her. So I could've thought "Ooo girl don't do that you'll never get any customers" about her and I would've been dead wrong. That's the point I'm making.
Ahh I noticed you were that's why I edited my post... Ya see..? Look at the time..Yeah You got me on that one but I'll say it again.. You're still not getting what I'm saying. Someone like nemesis is not who I'm referring to. Josie basically covered what I meant but you're still not getting it. I've been camming long enough to know that men will buy and watch ANYTHING... You don't have to tell me that. Eh but whatever you say. Have an awesome day!

Yeah I have a feeling you're not getting what I'm saying either and taking it more personal than it's meant to be taken, but the argument is going around in circles so it's time to be squashed.
You have a good day as well :)
Thank you for this thread I really appreciate it. Im hoping to get into camming soon and want to step out on the good foot with all my shit together.

I think because we are all trained by the media and through years and years of history that the European standard of beauty is "right", because the majority of the people who have and will spend money on camming are white, and because there are many many times more white girls camming than black, it's easy to target the 16 black girls live on any one site at any time and say we, collectively, are "messing up" rather than browse through many more white girls and pick out a few who are also "messing up".
One young lady earlier in this thread (not black) said she sometimes rolls out of bed with her hair a mess, in her pajamas, listening to rap music and cams just fine... I've done the same damn thing (I'm black) and I've done just fine... I'm going to go out on a limb and say that in addition to race, it may be about class/the ability to conform to the European standard that largely funds this industry. You can't point the finger at minority women who simply may not have access to the resources (financial, educational, cultural etc...) that others have been privileged with and essentially tell them to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
I feel that the adult entertainment industry, much like every other industry based in the US, is dominated by white males, and due to inequality we don't all start off with the same resources. This may sound fucked up but I feel like we (the black girls who just so happen to be privileged enough to sound/look/act/appear "white" enough to make it not only in this industry but in this entire country), are the lucky ones. And just as much as it may be our duty to help others, it's even more of our duty to recognize just how lucky we are and not put less fortunate ladies down for something that isn't even their fault.

Wow, what a post. I agree and disagree. Much of this comes down to what is considered by society as a whole as beautiful and acceptable.
In general being a black woman in ANY sect of entertainment regardless of how well you are or are not put together, you'll find yourself struggling to find equality against your counterparts of other ethnicities when it comes to earnings.
Best thing you can do is find your look, stick with it for a while, and remain fairly consistent.

Agreed!.... However, I wasn't putting anyone down. I think everyone has the potential to do better. I think my post will help girls strive to become better. You don't see it that way ok.. but that's how I look at it. Sure I know beauty comes in all shapes, forms and sizes.. I never called anyone "ugly". I just said we have to do better to make more money in this industry. Look at the top hosts on all the top sites, They're mostly all white. Check it out and see for yourself. I'm also not saying I'm better than anyone. I get advice from girls that's been in the business longer than me (in my case, Minnie) and it's helped me a great deal. There's nothing wrong with wanting to do better and ENCOURAGING others to do better. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion I guess...

^Yeah I totally feel what you are saying, and I think you are very resourceful and always have a lot to offer to inspire/help other women of all races. Not disagreeing with you or saying you ARE putting others down, but I've seen it done, y'know? Rather than negating what you're saying, I'm just kind of adding to it. I think the problem is multi-faceted and complex... but yeah keep up the good work.

Regarding the topic at hand, I think it means well and I can see the points made but I'm not sure if I fully agree. I mean personally I prefer a classier route BUT there's a fetish for everything. One of my favorite ladies to watch on my off time is Nemesis (who is black btw). I've seen her around on phone sex / cam sites for years and I think she makes bank on her niche. She sits on cam with her bald, shaved head, no make up (or just a dark lipstick if any). She wears cheap walmart "lingerie" (usually a supportless bra, thong, wifebeater and ankle socks) and cusses the customers out while in free chat and that's only IF she's not busy ignoring them by looking in her handheld mirror and plucking/shaving her facial and body hair.
I will sit in her room and watch her shave not even acknowledging anyone in her room and she goes private after private!
So who knows really. I don't think it's that black and white to say everyone needs to follow certain rules to make it. I think if all black women (or women period) were the same host after host, that the men would get incredibly bored. To me it's similar to a white woman saying "Girls if you're going to do cam you need to diet down to 100lbs, wear sexy lingerie, get implants and dye your hair blonde" How bland would that be to go on a site and only see thousands of skinny bleach blondes with DD tits?
Do whatever you have to do to make yourself stand out and find the niche that works for you is my advice!
I watch Nemesis too - LOVE HER

and I as a woman of color have to agree with the topic of this thread. When I first considered camming I did a look around at some of the other women of color as this would be my competition if u will, and quickly noticed that alot of them did not seem to put as much care into their appearance as others. It is one thing to have limited resources but its another to not give a damn at all. U can get lipgloss, and eyeliner for $1 a piece. Dont have money to get your hair done? Slick it back into a ponytail and wear big dangly earrings or Wet it braid it before u go to bed and let it do its naural wavy wild thang and slip a headband on or flower barrette in it. Its not that hard really. The less money u have the more creative u have to be is all.Walmart has bra and panty sets on clearance all the time,Big Lots has bra and panty sets and so does Dollar General. If you have children in the same room with you while you are masturbating or suckin a dildo on camera U need to have them taken away from you. You have to consider that most of these men have women in their lives. When they come online to pay money for an experience they want something they cant get at home. I feel that most of these women may not have thought of some of the things mentioned and it may help them out. I was lucky and I danced in several clubs that made our appearance their business. Our hair needed to be done, nails, heels 5 inches min, and at least 5 pieces on, outfit, thigh highs, necklace etc so when I started camming it just carried over. My question is do they take the time to look at the other models at all? I mean surely they can see that they may need to step it up a bit. I mean if they guy cant see u bcs ur lighting is so bad in free why would he pay? If you cant afford another lamp for your work area, then maybe you should consider another line of work. Each site tells uwhen u sign up wht supplies u need and adequate lighting is on every list Ive ever read. yes its true there are girlies lackin of all races but take a look as someone else said and let us know on avg how many were brown girls???
