Do you tell your fellow church members that you're an escort?

^ Why would it be any of their business? Unless someone was paying my rent and feeding me I don't owe them anY explanation of what I do. Like i mean ..really. Is that what people do at your church? Go around saying "Hi my name is Dan I'm a doctor", "Hi my name is lisa I'm a nurse"... I doubt it. Your comment makes no sense. Just because you believe in christ dosen't mean you go around telling people your business. .... though some people just don't know how to shut the fuck up.

So.. since this is Stripperweb .. would a stripper tell a fellow church member she was a stripper? , Would a camgirl or a pornstar tell her fellow church member what she did for a living. Give it up, We're all in the sex industry. Everything we do is going to be scrutnized and looked down upon.

I tell as few people what i do as possible, Im a dancer, not an escort, but it doesn't make any difference, nobody needs to know, it's my buisness, I dont tell people at church for the same reason i dont tell people in my day job, Nowt to do with anyone, plus, why bring stress where its not needed, i don't feel the need to ''confess' coz i dont think its a sin to dance. Just like Im not married and i enjoy sex, everything is a sin in someones religion. Its all relative, Im happy in my faith. :) x

What?? You didn't get the memo?? You need the power of christianity to have a fullfilled life. If you don't believe in GOD, then you just haven't been show the way! You are CLEARLY WRONG AND MISGUIDED if you can't feel Jesus' love or you don't think religion makes perfect sense. Jesus will make your life soooo much better. I know what you're thinking, "religion sucks" right?? Well no, not really! Live your life any way you please even if it goes against your christian values! Don't worry nobody will notice, virtually all the christians are doing it!! Christianity is perfect for you if you are too lazy to do all the religous stuff. You are not judged by your actions, you are judged by how much you believed!!!! How awesome is that huh!!! You never need to worry about HELL because Jesus forgives everything!! Oh, but you've got to be sorry. Real sorry. You can still do it a bunch of times. Hell do it everyday. As long as your sorry sometime you're good. But I fucked up when I said he forgives everything. He doesn't really forgive EVERYTHING, because if you don't believe in him he is frying your ass in hell!!! He can't forgive you doubting him, he's got the ego you know. Jesus knows we all sin and that christianity is hard. Too damn hard. Thats why he forgives everything!! It doesn't even matter how many times you do it!!!

Now you can pray about all the minor inconviences in your life. If it comes true its a miracle!! If it doesn't come true its "God's Will" so he wins either way!! But if you don't believe you go to hell. Forever. It doesn't matter if you were the bestest nicest person on the planet. You burn forever and ever. Those people never taught about Jesus?? Fuck it, they burn too. Doesn't matter if you spent your whole life helping others and abiding by all the rules. Don't matter. Jesus need lots of attention. He would rather have a man who spent his whole life molesting and killing children as long as the molester praised his name and believed he died for his sins. Jesus had a terrible death so he really really wants credit for it. Can't blame him for that!! Oh but the molester has to be sorry. Its really important to be sorry. Less important to have been an honest person who lived your whole life helping others and never hurt anyone. Jesus won't like you enough to let you into the heaven party because you gave him no attention. You have to give Jesus credit for your hard work you know!! Just remember to always praise Jesus. Never question anything. Just believe. If something doesn't make sense, you aren't praying enough. Come on KS, join us!!!

LOL, you are win!

i havent read everyone's posts on here, i'm just replying to the op. i did read nicole84's and i do agree that we really cant be sure if the bible is 100% god's word. it is 1000s of years old. who really knows?

xiomara, i am not christian. i left the church years ago. however, this post isnt meant to disrespect your choice in any way.

you don't have to answer, but...
maybe you could find another belief that supports your views? personally, i dont think jesus hated sex workers. i also dont think he had a problem with gays. but i dont think it's healthy to feel so bad about yourself when it comes to religion. if you feel the need to stop escorting, that is your choice. are you happy as an escort? religion should provide peace and harmony in your life. it should help you feel guided, not pushed aside.

there are christian groups who are welcoming of many lifestyles that are considered 'sinful', such as gays. perhaps you could look into that?

^LOL... make sure she's not reading too much about that science and evolution mobojumbo too.

Scientific evidence is Devil's work. A ploy from satan to get us to disregard God's teachings.

...And when I said my goodbyes to her, I wondered what it would be like to get back into church again. To dress up sunday morning and walk into this beautiful building that i pass by every day but never thought about until i was in the parking lot today.
Is it wrong for me to live this lifestyle, and still go to church and pray?? ...
Of course it's not wrong. Church is for sinners. The more you sin, the more you need forgiveness.

Matthew 5:18-19
"For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Luke 16:17
"It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid."

2 Peter 1:20-21
"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God."

Just while we're doing the picking and choosing thing here, Jack. ::) The Pharisees weren't sorry about what they were doing; they wanted to appear pure and righteous to men, not God.

I'm not picking and choosing. All of God's law is sacred. You are a sinner whether you steal a $.50 pack of gum or rape and slaughter 20 children.

But, are these sins equal in the eyes of God? Based on my reading of Scripture - both are sinners, but their sins are not equal. Again, the degree of the sin is measured by (1) love for God, and (2) love for our neighbors. Stealing a $.50 pack of gum is cruel because our "neighbor" is trying to run a business and make a profit. But, is it just as bad a raping and killing his daughter? Think about it this way - one sin causes him a mere annoyance. The other sin might cause him to become hateful, question his faith, become mean-spirited, obsessed with revenge and turn away from God.

Remember, too, that we are made in God's likeness, which means that we have an element of God's justice within us, even though we choose to ignore it most of the time. Does your inner moral compass tell you that both sins are equal?

Another point - distance from God. The person who only commits the "little" sins is more likely to feel guilty and repent later. The person who commits the "big" sins is so far removed from God that he/she is unlikely to feel remorse (only regret when he goes to jail). It all ties in together.

I don't really know anything about God, but I don't see how escorting is any worse than being promiscuous and there are plenty of people who are like that who still go to church.

^^^ That's what I've been saying... although technically, even "fornication" with one person, i.e., your BF, is sin according to Christianity. So, the prostitute and the girl sleeping with her BF are both committing the same sin of fornication.

By the way, does anyone know where the scriptural support making "fornication" a sin is at? I looked at the Ten Commandments and none of them say anything about fornication being a sin. Here is one that may apply, in some cases: "You shall not commit adultery." If your BF or customer is married, you have to worry about this one.

I googled this question and found this page with some Bible references on fornication:
http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=fornication&version1=9&searchtype=all&limit=none&wholewordsonly=no

Granted, fornication is looked upon unfavorably - like a weakness or disease - but, only one reference listed actually calls it a "sin":

1 Corinthians 6:18:
Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Even here, it is sin againts your own body. This seems different (and less offensive) than the Ten Commandment sins which are "cast in stone" and are sins against God and other people.

Likewise, drinking too much alcohol, taking recreational drugs, and even eating too much junk food - could be considered sins against your own body.

I'm not saying fornication is not a sin, I'm just trying to put it in is proper place alongside all other sins that the people in the Sunday services are guilty of.

Interesting thread! I truly enjoyed reading all the different perspectives here.

I can't speak for anyone else, bc it's definitely not my place to tell someone what to believe or judge them. (Would that more people would realize that it's not their place either. ;) ) For myself though, I do believe that stripping is wrong. I was not a Christian when I started dancing, but became one after about two years into it. So for the past year I've been making plans to leave the clubs (i.e. going back to school), and have been working really hard to put those plans into action.

The problem is, I've been looking for a job for the past year and NOTHING. Not only have I not been able to nail down a job related to my intended major...not even crappy minimum-wage jobs will hire me! IDK if it's the economy or my lack of experience (don't even get me started on that; serving food is not rocket science! ::) ) or what, but I need a job. I cannot survive without one. So I feel stuck. I would seriously work at the freaking Dairy Queen or something instead, but NO ONE, ANYWHERE will give me a chance!

It sucks bc I know what I'm doing is wrong for me, and yet I feel powerless to change things. All I can do right now is keep praying and keep working at getting out. Unfortunately it's not always as easy as "have a realization and then just quit". God does know my heart, and He knows how badly I want out, He knows my situation and my intentions, and He can see that I am doing everything I can (aside from living in the street or dropping out of school) to get out of dancing. So I pray to Him asking for help in getting out, and also apologizing and asking forgiveness for the bad decisions that put me in my current situation.

Sure, people can prob find a million ways to take pieces of what I've said and pick them apart and judge me, but at the end of the day it is only between me and God.
