$250 is good money? Since when?
_Avery_

I think it depends on your club, the customers, where you live.
Everyone has their own idea on "good money".
I'd be happy if I left with $250 in 7 hours.

My issue isn't not making money because of my weight. Actually men that come to my club love that I'm about 5-10 lbs overweight. I've walked out with about $250 on several occasions while the skinny, perfect little barbie doll girls are whining that they only made $80-100.
I was just ranting about the Meg thing because when I danced earlier this year for two months I got plenty of the Sexy Secretary/Sexy CEO/Schoolgirl/Substitute Teacher compliments, and within 24 hours this last week I get Meg Griffin from Family Guy.
I don't think the OP was necessarily saying that $250 was GOOD money, she was just probably trying to make the point that she can still do reasonably better than the girls who are "skinny" sometimes (The OP did state she was trying to lose weight and tone down too by the way).
And also it seems like the OP was only asking for input about the Meg comparison...not necessarily her weight or glasses (but both of those factors do come into play when visualizing the character of Meg on family guy- so I think that's "fair game") and by posting a picture the OP was kind of opening of an unintentional can of worms. Anyway, I think some of the posts in this thread are kinda harsh (but honest) and should be looked at as CONSTRUCTIVE criticism from one stripper to another fellow stripper.

What is "good money" changes from club to club, state to state and stripper to stripper. No need to judge a girl on that. Instead of making her feel negative about it, giving her some positive suggestions with a positive vibe...that makes a stripper money. No stripper in a nasty mood is going to have a good steady Hustle.
Let's just keep it positive. ;D

I agree, loose the glasses and if you dont loose the glasses please get a more flattering pair of glasses.
Just try it- it cant hurt. You have pretty eyes so frame them better!

I'd love to be making the same money as the OP. :) And my eyes are funny about glasses too, only very very certain pairs don't look super weird on me. Autumn Lily has put in major crazy effort lately and her body just keeps on improving, I am mucho proud of her. ;D

I can see the Meg resemblance, and I agree it's the glasses and the hair, I think. I would definitely let my hair to continue to grow out, and get a pair of glasses specifically for stripping. I am one of the only girls to wear glasses, and they help me a lot. I've done contacts and glasses, and glasses are better. But I am picky about my stripper frames-I go for black frames that fit my face shape.

Are you serious? Averaging less than $250/night barely makes stripping worthwhile. You can make more bar tending somewhere busy or waiting tables at a nice restaurant.

Maybe, but it's not always so easy to find a "normal" job.
Plus if you have a family a normal job doesn't always give you the freedom of a schedule like stripping does.

No, I, personally cannot do that and yes, I am deadly serious. Stage shows and private parties, or jobs I can just as easily pick up and set down, are the only jobs that work around my disability. I can't work more than a few times a year, so yes, I'd give a limb to be making $200 a night as I currently make less a week.

This thread is great. Real life Meg. Does no one remember the episode where Meg gets a make-over of just blonde hair, no glasses, and lots of make-up and she's like a bombshell? Meg isn't really ugly, its just a social commentary.

I'm gonna try and get some different frames. I've considered it for awhile anyway. I just don't like the idea of wearing contacts. That's just me, though.
I gotta head to work here in a bit, so I took a pic of me with and without glasses. The lighting in my bedroom sucks but you at least have an idea.

In what city? Certainly not Wichita, KS. I know this for a fact. I've known plenty of people who have bartended and waited at busy/fancy restaurants and bars. They said they averaged $400 in tips a week. I make $6-800 a week dancing (PART TIME, mind you), and I'm only doing it for the summer. Most of the full-time dancers in my club make $1000-1200 a week. My big sister made $1500 a week when she danced when the economy was great from 98-2003 here.
I'm not doing this to support myself for the rest of my life, I don't want to be a professional stripper so I probably don't try as hard as a lot of the full-time dancers. Would I benefit from programs like stripperwealth and applying myself that hard? Possibly. But my point is I'm happy where I'm at and how much money I'm making, and that's what matters to me.

Wow, you look really different in those pics then from the original pic. (probably because I'm not on the computer....lol)
You look beautiful either way, but I have to say I like the pic without glasses better. To me, it makes you look younger. :)
I think you should wear what makes YOU feel comfortable and confident. If you like the glasses, wear them. Good luck tonight!

One thing I do like about my glasses that I forgot to mention was that the bottom rims help hide my dark circles =P if I went without I'd have to wear makeup constantly!

Yeah, definitely let the hair down and it'll frame your face nicely - and square/rectangular frames will add some planes and angles in the right places. If you had a square face and sharp cheekbones I'd suggest round frames, but you're an oval like me and those big round eyes just add more curves to the face! It's like haircuts - use to your advantage to even out your face. ;D

I still think you're adorable in an all american way.
Here's what I would do to make your look more marketable and less meg.
Ditch the glasses. If you really want to wear them, get some secretary looking ones. I promise if you slap some concealer on, no one will notice your dark circles.
Let your hair down, and do loose curled away from your face waves. Also, get some clip in extensions. They are really really easy to make. But whatever you do, start wearing your hair down.
Lose the bright makeup. It looks harsh against your face. try something from this list: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bronze+smokey+eye+tutorial&aq=1
or something like this:http://www.manofest.com/content/images/joomgallery/img_originals/girls_19/the_100_hottest_victorias_secret_fashion_show_phot os_229/miranda_kerr_angel_20091129_1153230211.jpg
that look is really easy. Soft lid color - bronze or grey, strip lashes on top, bronzer and a light pink blush. Blend your lines on your makeup. It just looks sexier.
Get a Kevyn Aucoin book and play with it! There's some awesome ideas in there.
I will say that EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of my great money nights is with either a bronze or a purple smokey eye. Those colors pop almost every skin tone.

Woah, this thread is weird.
Autumn Lily, I think you look lovely in the most recent photo's, you don't need to change your look unless you feel the need too. You're beautiful as is, and I think the makeup you did is really cool. $250 nightly is fine for where you're living, and where you're at right now in life. Some girls sure are being catty as hell about in this thread and it's boggling my mind. O.o You know I think you're a smart chick with a great personality, and that counts for more in this business than long hair and big boobs (although those don't hurt either).
Hope you do well tonight! XOXO!

you can look at our comments that 250$ is not good money in one of two ways... way number one is you can take it negatively and get insulted and defensive and say that in your area it is good because some 'barbies' say they make 80$ a night. or you can look at it positively that if you change a few things and up your game, you have the chance to make 500 a night. if i were you , i would look at it the second way.
you are relatively new. if this was the highest point of your sales abilities, that would be depressing. its not. nor should it be. i remember when i started i had short blue hair... and keep in mind i started in cleveland which was hit harder by the recession than almost every other city in the states, aside from maybe detroit. i was like you, averaging about 250 when i switched to my upscale club that became my home club. well eventually i 'sold out' and changed my looks and my game... and guess what, my earnings went up. my average was slightly under 500 a night over the summer after i switched it up, and this was after the 80$ of late fees that i paid on top of everything else since i was always late after my research job (which was also a full time job). so without the late fees it would have been over 500 a night. and at the time i thought that was amazing, but looking back on it i wince a little bit because had i had more faith in my ability to entertain men for an hour at a time, i would have sold rooms by the hour instead of hte half hour and my average probably would have been about 700 a night.
so do you see what i am getting at here? there is always room for improvement. and as you dance longer you will look back on your newbie days and see this. perhaps the way some posts were written in this thread was harsh, down to unnecessarily so (the housekeeping comment was off topic for sure), but just because the posts might have bitten your ego a bit doesnt mean you shouldnt step back and try to weed out some of the useful truth from them. then later you can come back on here and brag about your average being 500 a night or whatever you manage to milk out of the PLs.
btw i think you look MUCH prettier without your glasses.

06-14-2010, 08:37 PM
^^^Agreed. And I really doubt that no one in Wichita is making over $250 a night. Somewhere in Wichita some girls are banking, but they're probably at a better club and they probably have a completely different look than you and the coworkers you're referencing.

I do enjoy how you did your make up and the picture without the glasses... Do let down your hair, its always sexier to have hair down, even style it into different ways.
If you want to stick to glasses try something like this;

dude-
check out some of the youtube tutorials regarding makeup and glasses... also notice that all the chicks wearing glasses have rectangular frames that rest below their eyebrows.
posting an example here. simple makeup often makes you look younger...
also- rather than wearing your hair so severely pulled back (as in the second pics you posted), have you thought of layering a bit, or curling it at all? it'd complement your face more.

Sorry, but she isn't skinny enough to pull off the glasses thing in a sexy way... she needs contacts.
^don't listen to shit like this. I think you look totally cute WITH the glasses.
Also, just because you "remind" someone of a character/celeb etc doesn't mean you look "exactly like them". When I had red hair (most of my life) I got called everyone from allison hannigen(sp) to nicole kidman to shirley manson etc etc etc. Pretty much any celebrity with red hair.
The bottom line is, be happy with how you look to YOURSELF. Sure, your looks matter at work. But you know what? What matters more is that you're confident and that YOU feel sexy.
Uhg. People who say things like that, make me remember what it is exactly that I loathe about this industry.
It's one thing to be "honest" and another to use honesty as an excuse to act like a total bitch. I'm pretty sick of that whole "oh, they asked for me OPINION and I just tell-it-like-it-is" speech.
She brought up wanting to lose weight HERSELF, there's no reason for any of you to call her fat. The girls on here giving advice about make up and etc are being HELPFUL and CONSTRUCTIVE. Some of you could learn from that, but I guess then you wouldn't be the hardcore "real" bitches that you are. Blech.

For more makeup/hair suggestions:
I could see you rocking a bronze or taupe eyeshadow, or perhaps a burnt gold. Darken the brows and define them a bit more. Maybe have a makeup counter like Chanel or another high end line do your brows and makeup for you. Ask for GLAMOROUS makeup. Stray away from natural. With such a vibrant shade of red hair, you will look washed out under the lights with anything less than true stage makeup.
After darkening the brows a bit, I'd suggest amping your shade of red to a more enriching or even downright unnatural shade of red (but dark and deep, not orange-y) and add in clip-on extensions with layers or single length but down to just past the boobs. With a curvy figure, short-ish hair makes your face look fuller and does not accentuate you to your greatest potential.
I think you look good both with and without the glasses. Some might laugh at this suggestion, but I'd channel/mirror a Sarah Palin-esque look and go for hottie conservative type outfits that flatter your figure.
Also, I'd like to add that you should reframe how you think of work and earnings. Night to night earnings will just give you false confidence if you see Barbies have a bad night now and again and you happen to bank. The goal is to perfect a system which serves your bottom line and garners a consistently high income, whatever 'high' means to your region. The Barbies cry and moan when they make $80 because they are NOT used to it; you shouldn't get used to the slower nights for you, either. Tighten up your game and the rest will follow!
I say this with love and complete respect! I admire your courage for posting something that puts you in a vulnerable position, as I'm sure you were aware that you would get both ego-bruising and self-validating comments alike. Bonne chance!

This business is mean and I think sometimes the nicest thing we can do for one another on this board is to be honest when people ask for our opinions instead of always being like "No, you're not fat! No, you were totally right in the situation! I agree and reinforce!" THE GLASSES MAKE HER LOOK LIKE MEG FROM FAMILY GUY. Lose the glasses, lose the comparison. Lose some weight, make more money as a STRIPPER. To the OP, you are by no means ugly, but your income will increase if you listen to me. Promise.
I agree. There's a serious lack of honesty going around on here. I just simply don't reply when I'm not falling on the "OMGZ U R SO PRITTY" train. Don't feel like being railed for it.

Thanks a lot girls, especially you, Penny. :) Reading that plus hearing and seeing an awesome epic thunderstorm outside my office window this morning coming into my day job gave me a great start to the day.
I went in to the eye doctor today to check out some new, more dramatic frames and discuss the possibility of contacts. Since my next eye appointment is later this year, they moved it up to the 28th of this month, citing that it would suck bigtime if I get new glasses now, then go in for my checkup in two months and find out my prescription has changed.
I did find a really cute pair of glasses that I like, by Coach.
http://www.go-optic.com/store/eyeglasses/details.asp?id=27173
These aren't QUITE the same as the one I tried in the office, but they're very similar. I'm going for the brown tortoise color, not black. It's dark enough that it can go with any dark or classy outfit and still look dramatic without being OMGBLACK. And the curve comes just under my brows.
Still on the fence about contacts, but I've entertained the idea for years. I'll talk to my doctor about it on the 28th.
I also agree that a couple other girls here need to learn a few lessons in tact, but thanks a bunch to everyone who actually put up some decent advice to try and help and support me :)

I'm not disagreeing with that statement. That statement has nothing to do with what I said. What I am getting at is this. IF that is your opinion, instead of saying something like:
"I think a larger percentage of customers prefer girls without glasses" and/or "it's those glasses that give you more of a 'meg' look"
it's preferable to say she's "too fat" for glasses?
I mean........ really?

Yeah I thought that was way out of line. I mean they are glasses and if she would prefer to wear them then that shouldn't be the issue. The issue should be the style. And possibly a different hair style. And also I think it is hard for some people to grasp not everyone is a twig. And that is completely fine and normal and very beautiful. I know someone that stopped wearing contacts because a tiny rock flew into his eye, hit the contact and scraped across his eye. He just had an awful experience with contacts, they aren't for everyone. But the weight comment was unnecessary.
