i just changed to the top club. nowhere else better now. though i miss my old clubs weekend money it was so good, except weekdays you end up owing...
i find the more money i make the easier to motivate myself.... i always wanna up it to the nearest hundred... and again...
but if i make no money at all and its my 4th shift that week.... yeah im SCREWED

I know it is odd for a stripper to have this problem, but I do not like spending money. I like to save save save, or put money into my house or other investments. I feel bad about shopping-even at forever21. I always have buyers remorse and that helps me stay motivated to go to work. Today I bought to super cute picture frames at target and some shoes at Ross... off to work...

^^Charlie, so if you do buy yourself something, does the guilt help get you to work? It works for me.

Today my motivation is that I am on a mini strip trip and I have not worked for the past three days. I should be working. This weekend is going to be awesome!

Whenever I buy something, I know I should go in to work, but it doesn't really motivate me... :-\

charlie, i'm going to sound like a cocky asshole, but every time i read bullshit on here that's like "i sat with a guy for 7 hours and he only bought one dance what should i do?" it reminds me of how many amateurs who don't know what they're doing are in the clubs, and that just reminds me of how good i am at my job.

Very very true.
I know I'm good at this job. And once I'm at work, I'm 100% confidence, 100% on, 100% hustle.
I'm just looking for things I can do to help get me out the door!! :)

whatever you do, do not watch desperate housewives marathons. i quit a club so that i could catch up on season four. WHO DOES THAT.

haha 7 hours? not even in my newbie days. i think my money radar is off. i find it hard to tell who has money and even harder who spends it. i guess i have to go talk to everyone but yea.... motivation missing

That made my night. :)
I took a week (or 2) off work before to level up on WOW. :P
Use to take Mondays off to watch America's Next Top Model (whatever day that use to be on)...lol

Shit. I missed work the other day this week so I need my $600 for the mattress ... well tomorrow. So I'll be there from the time the club opens it's doors to when they kick out the last of em'
I'm feeling good. I think it's doable. ;)
I mean ... I don't need it...I could get it next week, but that's the item I want and told myself I was getting the money this week so I'm focusing on it.
How about this for another trick ? Another thing I do is to plan my FUN. I'm going camping Sat - Mon. so I know that I have tomorrow ( Friday ) to make my stripper money and enjoy the camping after.

girl, i also had to end a relationship because she was constantly calling during housewives. i SO wish i was not being serious.
charlie, i've mentioned here about how i burn out a lot, and i'm going to try something new which is: getting massages on my days off. hopefully that will make me feel brand new so that going to work makes sense.
also, i have a pre-work ritual: soak in tub, shave, exfoliate, all that good shit, put hair in rollers or whatever, and then STARBUCKS. this is important because the baristas probably think i have a twin named camille who looks like a hooker. but no, it's really me. BUT that interaction is the first switch from the real me to the stripper me.
so. drink starbucks. do not watch desperate housewives.

^ I've been getting massages every 7-10 days and highly recommend!

^ I looove massages, but I'm super frugal. How do you find ones that are reasonably-priced and also high quality?

sometimes, acupuncture/alternative medical schools offer low priced massages so their students can practice.
or go to your doctor and see if you can talk him/her into documenting a medical need for massages. tax deductions =)

Do you have a massage school near you ? I have one near me that is set up like a spa -your own room / nice look / nice music ...NOT cheesy curtain style. It's $25 for 50 minutes ( seriously ! ) . I always tip too of course ( usually $5-$8 ). This is for a student almost graduating and they have licensed therapists for $35 ( I found one I love,so I think I'm going to go to him more ).
Over the past 6-7 months ... I have done them about every 10 days ... I feel it's 100% worth it and look at it as good dancer ROI anyway. I feel so much better which allows me to hustle harder.
Every few months, I splurge and go to a day spa where you do the whole bath/sauna/robe/tea/decadence thing, but it's more pricy ( but still worth it, I just can't go often ). I have friends who have dared call me self indulgent but I just tell them to shut up and book with me next time.
p.s. I was a bit short of the mattress, but it was still good motivation!

You wanna know the most pathetic thing? I skipped the last couple thursdays of work to watch Jersey Shore.. I think it helps a lot if a club has you on a schedule. If they don't, make one yourself and try to stick with it. Fore me, it's always the getting ready that's annoying but once I'm there I'm pumped to make as much money as I can.
charlie61

^Same. I only have problems with the getting ready/getting there part.

What seems to work for me is to completely absorb myself in the act of getting ready. When I focus intensely on each individual task and approach the process with tunnel-vision, I have no room for negative thoughts in the moment, or any thoughts at all, because right now applying mascara is the most important thing ever. Any doubts I have will start to surface after I get there. It's hard to describe, but once I tell myself 'go', I'm locked in the process and skipping work is no longer an option.
...Don't know if that's helpful or incredibly obvious, though. :noidea:

I am still noticing that I do best when I plan my 2-3 day dancer trips and then fill the other days with my other job or fun stuff with friends. When I KNOW that I only have those 2-3 days to get the money I want out of the week, my hustle stays on.
p.s. - my ass is sitting on the new mattress now ! ;)

Congrats on the new mattress!
I'm with you on the working less often thing, but that tactic has backfired on me in the past. The less I go into work, the more pressure I put on myself to make money, and the more I psyche myself out of going in the first place!
