Avery - He's not pulling his weight, and that's not right or fair. Next time the baby needs to be changed or hes on the computer, call him out on it! Ask him to pitch him!
Also - show? Tell me moar?!?!
LOL, I wasn't going to say anything, but figured it would eventually get out anyway.
I guess awhile ago Discovery channel was posting on here looking for pregnant strippers. I never saw the posts, but ended up getting a message from the producer.
It's for the show, "I'm pregnant and...."
My story will be "I'm pregnant and a stripper".
Just telling my story. I mean, I share so much as it is on the internet (my past myspace blogs...everyone tells me to write a book), that I decided to do it.
I wasn't going to do it at first because I'm scared of my past coming back up, but....if it does, it does.
I just told MY story, about MY struggles and also how I've overcome a lot of stuff and learned A LOT from my mistakes.
The world is gonna see me at my worst (giving birth..lol), but I hope that they portray me in a good/positive light and not edit me into some psycho stripper.
People will make their assumptions about me....(they do anyway), but I just hope that maybe I can change SOMEONE's mind on the industry....
I was true to myself...and honest with my past and everything I've gone and am going through. They come back on the 26th to film me in the club so that's gonna be kinda embarassing..lol
but even if they do edit me into some horrible person, at least the people who know me know who I really am. It's been a really fun experience so far, and can't wait to finish it and to see it. :)
It'll air sometime in late August/early September on Discovery Health.

yeah..
It sounds like he will do as little as possible because he knows you will do it.
So the next time your feeding the baby and your oldest asks for something, instead of you grumbling and doing it yourself....just say "could you get kane a glass of milk?"
and let him get mad and grumble to himself.

And hell, who knows what will come after this. Maybe you'll get an awesome reg who saw you on TV or something!

I can strongly agree with positive energy in , positive energy out ..and therefore the type of character you are going to end up with , your judgement etc etc etc ..little doubt about that .
With regard to what the other girls were describing ..well , I think we may also seen this 100 s of times everywhere ...however , some of these type guys are going to be particularly drawn to this industry ..there is a little bit of the " free lunch " element ...
Im going to make some really basic points that Im sure the girls would have already addressed on some level ... Domestic duties , I cant accept the " over mothering " thing ..I suggest a basic list , with a time frame allocating duties , particularly to make sure these guys pull their weight . Im concerned about a couple of the points around " Drugs " and " partying " ...Id be stressing the extremely difficult part of the gig ..yeah correct the way you put it , these guys are going to think all is a great party .
The more seriously you treat the Gig , the better the Gig will treat you ..If you really feel that you simply cannot handle it mentally , dont become addicted , set yourself a schedule of 3 / 4 night a week , and work those nights hard ..
The less you can treat it as an " on going party " ..the better your returns , this is a proven element ..Dont bring these guys home " free drugs " ..keep clean , expect them clean . Make sure they are working ..or at very least attempting to find work , no relationship is easy , and it certainly cannot be simply a one way street ... Set a goal for YOUR money , a good goal ..something you really want , and work with disclipine towards it .
The guys ..you mention ..need a good push in the correct direction ..some Men really need this ..make it clear , its a partnership ...
If they cant see the clear simplicity in this , you need to rethink ..But dont take Crap , and Dont let yourself down ..take it seriously , Work it like a business ( not a party ) , If you cant handle the mental side ..set yourself some time off ..It all works when the goal you are working towards as a couple is a common goal .
Keep it positive ...and keep it Simple ...Speak your mind ..Directly , not in Riddles ... This will tell you if its worth it .:D:-\:-\
Totally agree with all the points here but things dont fit into a cookie cutter..
for example:
I was with my partner 2 years before I ever danced and hes a university grad with a great job and makes decent money.
I work 2 nights a week because Im studying to become a vet...
He just is jealous because we used to spend a lot of time together and now dont. Im working on that but theres only so much I can do while studying.
Im definitely not the most professional dancer but thats cause its not my profession. Its a means to an end for me, as it is for the vast majority. But at the same time its an outlet... its the one time when I can be a bit messy, but that doesnt mean Id still rather win the lotto and never wear a pair of heals again. I think its something men can never really understand because its what makes us different.
I always speak my mind. }:D Thats part of the problem lol.
I do appreciate the feedback though and I do believe your ideas are good... but some just dont fit the situation.

I'm pretty sure it airs in Australia. I'll find out when they come back on the 26th.
It's crazy how much it takes to get a 30 minute show. 50 hours of footage for only 30 minutes.
I had to carry my damn cake to my car 5 TIMES!
Had to do my eyeliner about 8 times..omg...lol...stuff is definitely scripted. We're made out to look rather poor which is why I "have" to head back to dancing...is how the 'story' is suppose to be. :P
We're gonna look reallllly poor with me wearing the producers Prada sunglasses while lounging in the sun, with our big screen TV, Laptops, computers, droids..lol..not that we're rich or anything, just funny.
There's a scene where we're going over some bills and the bills are just pieces of paper.
The baby shower scene in the club is pretty cool though....got one of the male strippers handing out my gifts. :)
filming me getting ready
me carrying that damn cake to the car
my living room turned into an interview room
my fat ass getting ready for interviews lol

If this is the same network that does all those "16 and pregnant" "Toddlers and Tiaras" etc., shows..(my 14 yr old daughter likes these shows)
They let the people tell the story. It doesnt seem like they go out of their way to make the people look bad. I'm sure there is selective editing, but some of the people look good and some look bad.
I was expecting the mom's of these child beauty pageants to just be monsters.....and some were. But some seemed OK.
I bet if you are as likable as you seem, it will come across in the show.

Thank you Avery, for the honesty about your experience with the show. I was starting to think maybe we should go ahead and do ours. You reminded me that there are a lot of very good reasons that we said no in the 1st place, lol.
As for your hubby - you need to out a little smack down. It sounds like he's starting to get it, but a lot of guys just plain don't. Make him be a stay-at-home dad for 3 days. THREE DAYS. He will be a very different person afterward. Many guys have a hard time realizing how hard stay at home moms work for some reason. Every family I know that did the "Mom goes and works 8-9 hours a day and then comes home and does what he usually does while he runs her normal schedule for 3 days" thing saw DRAMAITC changes afterward...

Avery, congrats on the show! Maybe it'll lead to more who knows.
You really need to put your foot down, but sadly I see this all too often with women, stay at home or not. One of the reasons I haven't had kids is quite a few of the guys who I dated would have expected me to do almost everything. A few months back a guy in my religion classes had a new baby and he basically refuses to do anything with it. His wife breastfeeds and changes diapers but he feels since he works he doesn't have to do anything. I don't know if she works or not, but I get so angry when men don't do their share. Oddly one of the guys (a Vietnam Vet no less) told him he was wrong not to do anything. While I do firmly believe stay at home parents should be doing more domestic work than the working parent, in the case where both work they should share work equally.
These are reasons when I date men I find out about their relationship with their mother. If she was a working woman he tends to do chores because he was forced to at home. If she was a stay at home mom he more than likely either expects that of his wife (a no way in hell from me) or expects her to do her work and come home and cater to him. I refuse to cater to anyone else except me and any kids I may have.

As far as I know, totally different network. It's from Sirens Media.
From the other episodes I've seen, it seems like a "real" show. Very raw. Yeah, of course they're walking into the dr office 20 times..lol, but they tell their story.
I just don't have a very interesting life...but I guess someone will find it interesting. My season will be Season 3 with unique jobs. The first series were epidsodes like, "I'm pregnant and homeless"..."I'm pregnant and addicted"..."I'm pregnant and have an eating disorder"...I was surprised when they asked if I was interested because my life isn't nearly as intense as THOSE stories.
but I guess the other episodes in this series will be like "I'm pregnant and a truck driver", "I'm pregnant and a snake charmer"..then mine...
another member on this board will also be appearing in the show... ;)
I stayed true to myself. Yes, I was open and honest about my past drug and alcohol abuse, but also made it clear that I've over came that. I made it clear that strippers are people too..lol...I guess I'm more worried about them portraying strippers as drug addicts and alcoholics just because I WAS one.
I am very confident though that they will show how I over came my struggles and am living my life the best I can. :)
I'm nervous and excited for it to air.
(BTW...there is a scene in the car where my fucking eyelash is falling off and for some reason, that's all I can think about...I hope they don't show that scene!) lmfao

Leaving here in 15 minutes...we'll see how he does tonight. I'm actually a little nervous...not about work, but about leaving the kids here. NOT that I think he'll neglect them or anything...just...I hate when my son is like, "I don't want you to go to work"...breaks my heart.
Hopefully it'll be a good night for both of us. He can bond with Kane and hopefully I can make a little money. :)

Avery, that is not right. If he wants you to shoulder all of the household duties then, at the very least, his ass needs to be out there earning enough for you to do so. And if he just isn't man enough to provide for his family, then the least he can do is share the household burdens, particularly if you now have to go back to work.
And if he doesn't want you dancing then he should do what it takes to keep you from needing to. Otherwise he should shut up and go change a diaper.
And IMHO you should call him out every time, for as long as it takes. There is the principle of the thing involved here, not just whether you can do it faster than him. In fact, I have no doubt that he counts on you to break down and just do it.
And as far as him taking the kids from you because of your past, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Unless you killed someone, the courts are unlikely to void your parental rights and they very often favor the mother, particularly with a newborn involved. He is simply playing on your fears to get what he wants.
Wow. Good luck with all of that. And good luck with going back to work and congrats again on your baby!

I really hope he pitches in...and while doing so, realizes it's hard for you to do it all by yourself. My father never changed a diaper in his life. He WAS working a lot, but I still wish I saw him help at least ocasionally. In all fairness to him, he'd take us out with him on weekends or something. I can't say he's a bad dad...but I wouldn't want a husband like him.
In contrast, I was recently visiting a friend who picked me up after he got off work. He's about my age (25), his wife is a stay at home mom and they have a small kid (a year and a half). When we got there, there were already some friends and we were all hanging out, chatting and eating. After 5 mins with us, he took their kid, changed his diaper first, then took him out to the park for half an hour. Got back, played with him a little while talking to us, then proceeded to give his son a bath, after which he tried to put him to sleep. It was lovely to watch, honestly. What was he doing later? Programming some stuff for his thesis...he's just graduating from a difficult university, all while working and he still manages to help with the kid. I know not everyone has that much energy, but it's so nice to know there's guys out there who WANT to spend time with their kid, even if they work.
After that soliloquy...:D
Avery, good luck at work! And hope that show turns out really good. :)

OMG Trem, I seriously laughed out loud and HARD. It's funny as hell, but I was in such a completely different place in my head, that took me so off guard, it made it disproportionately funnier.
What show did you get asked to do (if you don't mind me asking)? I'm curious now.
Some TV people learned a little about our life here and started poking around. Sister Wives got a lot of play and decent ratings. And that was before they moved to Vegas.
About halfway through their 1st season on air, we got asked about a similar reality show. Apparently somebody thought that if Sister Wives did that well, another show with 1 guy dating and living with 3 women - but the women are all hot strippers and they're in Las Vegas - would be right in there with Jersey Shore, lol. I have to say - objectively speaking, I bet it would blow up pretty huge. I can even look back and say DAMN - the events of the last year would have made SICKENINGLY good trash TV.
I just have no desire to be in the same class as "The Situation" and what's his face from The Bachelor, lol. The girls felt about the same.
Every so often the idea gets revisited. Now they're pulling the "the window for this to sell well is closing" crap. Meh - we'll pass.

Haha I live in Upstate NY as well, and as pretty as it is I am so used to it that I take it for granted. Speaking of Upstate NY, I am going to the drive in tonight with the S.O and have spent at least 10 minutes googling snacks to bring to movie's, and how to make popcorn at home taste like the movie theater.. last time we spent 10 on the movie's and 25 on food. Really unnecessary.. But welcome to upstate :)

Flew into Orlando for Disney for 2 days now sitting in the airport waiting to fly home...I love my bathroom & can't wait for a shower & a glass of wine. Now I can focus on my trips.
