Just got word from hubby's aunt that my super awesome mother-in-law was admitted to the hospital today. She's got some kind of infection that she's been battling since Thanksgiving and nothing has worked. This is awful, I don't care for my own mother, but my mother-in-law is a dream, I love her like she's my own mom and she's taken me into her family & treats me like I'm her own. She's already beaten cancer once before, so she can beat this too, right?

Omg, is "bless you" that hard to say???
I'm sitting right next to you...I have no idea why that irritates me so much. :/
I don't say bless you (atheist thing and all that), but I usually say "Goodness! You ok?" no matter whom it is.

This will probably be my last night at my bartending job.
I'm only doing ONE day a week. The SLOWEST day of the week and it's just not worth it.
I wanted the job to gain experience and learn, but with me only doing the slowest day of the week, all I'm doing is opening 5 beers a night.
(I already know how to do that).
I'm not gaining the experience I hoped I'd gain and to be honest, I can make more at the club.
So, gonna go in tonight, and I'll try to help them find someone who wants to work a night a week. It's just not worth my time.

Honey your new.. They are testing you to see how you do under pressure. If you stay longer they will put you on a busier day. I would love to have your chance.. but no one in my state will give me a bartending chance unless I have a piece of paper and almost a year of exp.. Please give it more time..

I would love to be given the opportunity to work under pressure, but I've been there a little over a month, and haven't had the chance yet. :(
They originally told me I was going to be working 2 days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), but I haven't yet.
The only time was when I was training. :(
I'm gonna see if they're gonna start me on 2 days a week yet, but if not, I know there's other girls who would love to have guaranteed money/pay at least one night a week. :) I'll give the job to someone else who needs it more than I do.
Then, come Spring/Summer, I'll start looking for something around here. :)

A month is nothing, your fresh meat til the third month. I would ask them and sadly if they do say they can't give you another day like they said I would give it off.

Avery, could you pick up an extra shift at the club to make up the difference until the bartender thing gets going some more? Idk, but I suspect that sananeko is right and that you are in the "pay your dues" phase. I'm betting that, as time goes on, you'll gain more experience, get more shifts and you may even develop a little bit of a friendly following that likes to come in during your shifts. You'll also get time under your belt, which you could probably parlay into gigs in other places down the road ("I've been bartending at xxx for about a year.").
Now the selfish side of me really wanted to say that you should just go back to dancing, but the unselfish side won out, though just barely. ;) IMHO you seem like you might be able to use a long break from dancing and I'd hate to see you walk away from an opportunity before it matures.

I hate staying up 2 extra hours for places to open so I can conduct business. On today's list is contacting the Nevada Insurance Division, among other things; State Farm is trying to drop my coverage, citing "too many claims in two years". Well, 1 of those was with GEICO, not State Farm, 3 out of the 4 were the other drivers' fault - and the police records indicate this - and the 4th was deemed "no fault". According the state law, they are literally not allowed to hold those against me in any way. Grr.

I would start looking for another bartending gig. WHILE you are still working at the current bar. It will be much easier to get a job bartending, saying "I'm currently a bartender at X Bar, but they just dont have enough shifts for me" than it would be saying "I worked as a bartender for 1 month then I quit, but I'm sure I will stay longer here".

Avery, you're low man on the totem pole still. Give your job more time. You can't dance forever, and this is a good chance for you to transition out of dancing and into a job that's still profitable and mainly cash-based.
A month really is nothing. You're still green in their eyes. Takes a long time to grow your sea legs when it comes to bartending (especially when compared to stripping....)

Decided to stick the bar thing out.
Guess I have a little following...and that makes me feel good.
Had to call the cops on some guy last night though.
Guess he was homeless, but I swear, he was tripping on acid or something.
Was talking about the Church of Satan, talking to himself. Glaring at me. Tried to unhook the computer. Staring off in space. AND NOT DRINKING!
He wouldn't leave and I was fucking seriously freaked out by this dude. Like, phone in my hand, hand on the cutting knife scared. I was ready to fight!
Then the cops came and got him and started yelling at me for not calling sooner, asking if I served anyone past one...fucking stupid ass cops...GOSH! Next time I'll just stab a fool.

I cant believe I tipped the nail lady.. After she messed up my nails by not makes the tips straight and uneven, I mentioned it to her 3 times too. She blamed it on my nails being crooked when the fakes were on already... Uhm ok. Then she sneakily added 5$ on top for some gel coat when I didnt want it!
This area is so difficult to find a good nail salon.

I'm glad you decided to hang in there. It does take time to get the "prime" shifts, but by sticking with it and developing a following, you'll be in the prime position to step in as soon as someone gets sick (or just wants a sick day) and eventually when someone leaves. Even in the type of bar that doesn't have a high employee turn over rate, other bartenders will leave sooner or later. I had what many considered to be a great bartending job - 4-12pm Thurs-Sat. nights in a popular local neighborhood bar. Even though the shifts and money were good, I had to leave after 5 years due to burnout. And you better believe there was someone just like you (new to the bar, only had 1 or 2 crappy shifts) that was delighted to see me go, lol.
And you did the right thing by calling the cops. It sucks to have cops come to your bar, but in certain cases (such as this one), it is the safest and smartest thing to do.

Is moving to Australia like code for pedophilia or joining the NAZI party? People are as crazy as I remember.

Bahaah!! That is AWESOME. I've seen pink stocks & uppers, but wow, lol. MM tried to get me to buy her a pink-pearl handled Taurus .22 LR subcompact at the show this weekend. It was tempting, lol.
We DID pick up an ATI Grand Vizir, 18 1/4" barrel, 5 shot pump - great deal for $199 considering the gun, decent quality. Grabbed some reduced recoil shells so I know she can handle it. I don't like the direction the neighborhood has been headed since prices dropped again...

So true. They are so cute when they're little but noooo. Colic, spit up, smelly formula, the heavy car-seats, no sleep. I will readily admit that while I loved my son the second I saw him, I didn't truly like him as a person until he was about a year. lol

My husband needs to hurry his ass up and get me his W-2 info...apparently, the USAF does not send out paper copies, but the airman in question can access everything online through a scanner that reads his ID...so I can't just log on remotely and get his info, he has to manually create a limited-time use ID and password for me to see it. Our taxes are DONE except for that, and the sooner I submit it the sooner we get our refund.
