I'm coming home from the library and this bicyclist was in front of me swerving and driving in the middle of the road. I was getting mad until I realized it was a friend of mine.

My cousin just had her baby boy...and she named him Lincoln.
I do not like that name. :/

and I realize my kids names are probably weird to people, but my kids are badasses. :D

anyway, it's not my kid...so whatever.

I need to go to bed. But I can't sleep. I'm tired. But I'm annoyed because I'm quitting smoking, and just to add injury to insult I bit my tongue chewing on a piece of ice. On the back-side part of the tongue that makes your inner ear feel all weird and hurty for like 3 hours after it happens. AND I'm going to have nightmares about angry semicolons because of the grammar nazi thread. But I can't get any writing done right now because I'm sleep deprived and tired, but I can't get to sleep because I want a cigarette and my tongue and jaw and ear all hurt. *sigh*

Ugh. I used to know someone who named their kid that. And it was, like, the most white trash couple I've ever met... and they used to baby-talk to the kid so much the thing could barely speak at 4 years old and did nothing but constantly whine and would burst into tears constantly over nothing.
So now that my brain has established that connection... every time someone names their kid "Lincoln" I'm just like OHGAWDWHY???!

Does he have a beard? then it works well :D. Seriously though maybe it's because I live in Illinois and this is the Land of Lincoln but I think of all the companies here that use Lincoln, like an insurance company where the guy in the ad wears a stovepipe hat. Another company (now defunct I believe)used to have a memorable jingle in the ad and sold carpeting (though carpeting companies with memorable jingles is prevalent in Illinois, we have several of these).

In my couple of years of dancing, I've never had any bad pain in my feet so bad like today. I want to cry. It hurts so bad, my heart aches. It feels like my right foot is going to break in half. :'( omg

Wow sorry to hear that. Do you think you could have strained something? Feet are strange and complex--so many bones and moving parts and little muscles and tendons, etc.

I still have a weird bump on the tendon in my right arch from standing up on it, on the rung of the stool in the booth wearing boxing shoes which are soft there for several months running (to see better out in the crowd and stage). I stopped standing on the arch a couple years ago and it's still there. But it never hurts at least.

I'm on my feet a good portion of the day and it would suck if my feet hurt, can't imagine what it would be like for you. Remember RICE = Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Rest will probably be the hardest thing for you to do b ut its the most important. That'll just treat the symptoms though, hopefully you can avoid whatever caused it.

^vyanka I understand your pain. My foot suddenly started hurting for no reason a cpl weeks ago when I was walking home from uni in flats! Didnt twist it or anything just suddenly felt a small pain that grew and grew until I could barely weight bare at all! I went to the docs and he just said to rest for 10 days and then if it hadnt healed to get a CT scan. Anyway I drove everywhere. Basically sat around unless I was at work (yes I still had to work) and massaged it a few times a day with anti-inflammatory cream and its gone away. Based on my anatomy knowledge I think the problem was actually one of the tendons from my calf that inserts on the 5th metatarsal. This tendon gets shortened from years of wearing heels and I never stretch properly so I think it was a strain caused by that. Anyway after 10 days rest it is feeling so much better and Im ready to start walking again. I was pretty stressed/devastated that I was going to be injured for several weeks - no gym and possibly no work :( So I understand your pain. I hope yours starts to feel better soon too. Ive now started stretching every morning and night because Im scared as I get older Im going to have more work-related injuries after dancing for years and exercising heavily for years and never ever stretching properly :-/

Pussy Riot is an awesome name for a punk band.

I love how the New York Times' pucker factor just goes off the charts every time Pussy Riot makes news in Moscow. There's no way out for the Editorial Board. They have to actually write "pussy" in the New York Times.

Hah!

How weird... last night I dreamt about going back to my home town and taking a test... like a college entrance test, and when I was done there was a big round yellow fish swimming in the pool like a moat around the building. So I looked it up on a dream site and this is what it said:

To dream of goldfish, is a prognostic of many successful and pleasant adventures. For a young woman, this dream is indicative of a wealthy union with a pleasing man. If the fish are sick or dead, heavy disappointments will fall upon her.

I totally believe in signs... like fortune cookies, and dreams. My baby daddy is such a POS, he came home drunk again tonight and I've been telling him I'm gonna leave but I don't want to take my son from him. I'm afraid no one will love my kid as much as his own father. But I've been missing an ex and he bought an engagement ring for me... I was madly in love with him when we were together.

I don't know if this is weird (probably coming from me, lol)but my potential boyfriend and my cat have the same name, Alex. It's kind of funny because my parents last night asked me if Alex slept with me and I realized they meant my cat and not my potential boyfriend.

I came very close to pushing my little girl to stay in soccer just so I could continue to coach her team. How sad is that? I really liked training those children and having them and their parents call me "Coach." *sigh*

The reality is that she is much more of a princess ballerina than an athlete. She loves to dance and sing, so that is what she will do. I had my youth and my dreams, albeit not as well funded or with such supportive parents, but nonetheless I don't get to make this about me anymore. She is the child and it is about her needs now. But I have to admit that I continue to be a bit disappointed - LOL.

Oh well, I have two more coming up the age ladder, so maybe one of them will make me "Coach' once again. ;)

she's lucky to have your support in dancing and singing. My mom pulled me out of dance classes when I was 7 just cuz I was feeling a little discouraged during a hard lesson. I still yell at her for it to this day lol! You're daughter's gonna be so stoked she can join the dance or song team in high school and always use it as a healthy method of release as she gets older.

I couldn't decide what I wanted with my kobe steak, so he was kind enough to bring me five samples to taste. It was on an empty stomach. I'm still feeling it. It's ok. I rarely get to sit, relax, & enjoy some fine wine.

"If you're not a sex object, you're in trouble." -- Helen Gurly Brown (1922-2012) RIP

Kudos to a woman who wasn't afraid to make sexual pleasure part of the feminist message. The "Sex and the City" HBO series and movies borrowed her book title, "Sex and the Single Girl," written way, way back in 1962, which spawned a book of its own starring Natalie Wood.

Her sexual message was often critiqued by Gloria Steinem, one of many women who thought it debased women and was a distraction. But eventually Steinem herself got married, and to a rich guy. What a surprise.

Brown used to say that "marriage is an insurance policy for the worst years of your life. During your best years, you don't need a husband. You do need a man of course every step of the way, and they are often cheaper emotionally and a lot more fun by the dozen."

What so many feminist thinkers got wrong about her can be summed up in that sentence. They get hung up on "you do need a man of course," but forget the whole second part of the sentence, which is one of the greatest female empowering statements ever.

"Guys are a lot more fun by the dozen." :)

She will be missed.
