i've been on it for about 2 weeks...the downside is that I have freckles pop up that I didn't even know were on me! Today on webcam a guy asked me if I was hispanic because of my skintone...so I guess that's a good thing!

I get soooo many comments about my ethnicity, today somebody asked me if I'm of Indian descent!

I think it's because the color is so even, people never think it's a tan!

once you get to the color you want you stop taking it everyday and only use it once a week to maintain the color

I think I need to get this. I just have to find someone to inject me, I know I can't do it myself. :/

Started my Melanotan yesterday, bought from the same site J.D got hers from:

www.newagetan.com (http://www.newagetan.com/)

I started with 5mg instead of 2 and had immediate flushing for about and hour and a half. My face was tomato red! The appetite suppressant part is a nice side effect. Today took 5 mg also but did not have any flushing.

I will update when I start to notice any changes. Attached is a pic where you can see I'm very fair. I don't want to be super dark but definately would like more color. My chest is also covered with freckles and JD said it would darken them, but hopefully once I start getting some color they will blend with my tan.

One week and two days in and I am certainly getting darker but as someone else mentioned, the downside are the freckles. They are popping out everywhere!!!! Does anyone have any experience with this where the tan covers the freckles, or will they always remain darker than the tan color?

My lips have also gotten darker, which is kind of cool, but everything happens so (relatively) quickly that I find myself looking in the mirror also feeling that I look quite different. I'm still adjusting. I have been travelling and have not yet had the opportunity to go sunning but tomorrow my husband and I have the day off so I will go out to pool. Excited to see how much faster I get darker with the Melanotan AND regular sun. :)

i noticed that too about the lips!! The freckle part is weird because i have them popping up places I didn't even begin to have them before...such as on the bottoms of my feet, and on my palms

Thank you, that was very nice of you to say.

Hubby and I went to the pool today and wow do you put on color FAST when you're taking melanotan! We only stayed out about an hour because I didn't want to get ridiculous tan lines wearing a full-bottom bikini but it was a nice little experiment. I'm thinking that once you reach your desired color using melanotan you only need to inject once or twice p/w and then tan once a week. This makes me happy because we will no longer be putting all the hormones into our bodies and the freckling will subside.

JD, are you on maintenance yet?

Girl, I actually had to stop taking it altogether for a while because I got TOO dark, like, I looked part black, no joke. And my eyes are really light blue, so yeah I looked freaky as fuck.

^J.D. - has this darkened your Irises? I have gray blue eyes and do NOT want them to darken. I've read that it can make light eyes darken though (This is why I wouldn't try Latisse).

to 4everresolutions: I had the same concern with Latisse, and it has not darkened them in over a year. They list it as a "theoretical" side effect, meaning it could happen, but did not happen in any of the test subjects. I would be curious if melanotan had the same effects, too. Hope that helps!

It did not darken my eyes at all, but I was scared it would, even slightly, so I quit taking it (for now). I have read that it doesn't darken your irises though.

The one thing that takes a little getting used to is your face being as dark as your body. Usually with regular tanning everyone keeps their face out of the light somewhat, so we don't get damaged facial skin. But with jab-a-tan everything is the same color and it's kind of wierd at first. Maybe more strange for me because I went from zero tanning to jab-a-tan and my face hasn't been this dark since...well, ever.

I def can't use all my old powder and foundations anymore. Estee Lauder is doing a promotion where you get 10 days of foundation free, so my sister and I went to a local counter and I got a new, darker shade than what I usually wear.

Right now I am on the fence about jab-a-tan. I am just afraid that if I stop using it my skin color will fade but I will be forever stuck with all these new freckles and darker moles. Tomorrow will be my first night back at the club darker and I'm excited to see how I look in the mirrors there on the floor.

Stick it out! The freckles will fade back I promise, and the color will even itself out, you need to be patient. The same thing happened to me at first, but trust me, just keep following the dosages and everything will even out.

JD that makes me feel a lot better because I feel as if I look strange right now - sort of in limbo. My Dad said I look blotchy, but I will stick to it now that you have said that this crazy change will calm down a bit in a little while. :)

DOnt worry, the first course i did of it (about 6 months ago) my freckles went super dark really fast, loads popped out that id never had before etc and i just got a little bit of a tan, i stopped injecting cause i was worried that i hadnt tanned and i was a frecklepuss, i just faded back to normal and so did my freckles!

My 2nd course that im doing now ive been injecting a higher amount and its worked so much better, i started out slightly pink/blothchy after my first couple of sunbeds but now im evening up and im tanning nicely. I even got complemented on my lovely even tan today! W00p! I cant wait to keep this up, want to be soo much darker! And then im going blonde! :D

As nice as it seems to find a better way of tanning that doesn't mean the skin damaging effects of the tanning bed or the irregular results of most self-tanners, I am really concerned about the quality of this injectable product.

I emailed their labs and although they ship from the USA, the product itself is manufactured in a lab in China. Anyone else question the quality control processes when it is coming from China or if it is really safe to be injecting into your body?

I started with 5 units last night.

J.D. - Do you know if there is a reason why they suggest easing your way up to 10 units? Did you feel any side effects from upping your dosage immediately?

I didn't, but others have. I think they just say to take it slow to test your tolerance.

Hi everyone, here are my updated pics. I have put a before photo in and an after, as well as one of my now super dark chest moles. Now, i had moles and freckles before, but they have gotten pretty significant. I also had a tiny mole above my lip that is now pretty big. My husband is not too pleased and he liked me better fair. The one thing I like about being darker is that I don't look washed out with my hair bleached this white. I am going to see if the moles and freckles fade with continued weeks on maintenance and then make a decision on whether or not to continue with Jab a tan.

Currently I'm maintenance, 10 mg p/w.

I'm at one week in, 10 mg since the 3rd or 4th day. Zero freckles and moles darkening, and no color. No libido help either. I ordered from newagetan.com.

Am I being impatient??

Piper, I was also thinking, what help me even out my color was I stopped the Melanotan and just started tanning everyday in the tanning bed, maybe you should try that.

Definately don't forget to take some 'before' photos, for your own reference (ours too if you want - ha ha!). Sometimes changes are so gradual that you may not think you are getting darker when in actuality you are. Just snap a few on your cell phone. They can even just be face shots since your whole body will be changing color. Just something to use as a point of reference.

The newagetan leaflet does say it can take 20 days until you have reached your desired color, so just sit tight, it will happen. Trust me.

I gave up on it, too. Hate all the freckles and didn't really get a tan. Plus it made me soo tired I would sleep for days straight=not good obviously. Also, I kinda thought this product would make me NOT have to go to the tanning bed anymore?

Day 14...and i noticed that my freckles are getting darker and some more popping out. Luckily im not a very freckly person, just some dark beauty marks.

I don't like the sides...i still get nauseous, "out of it " feeling, and SO tired. Not like, tired after i inject it, but just sleeping more in general and having a hard time getting out of bed in the am.

I think i might see a bit of color..but definitely not "tan " yet. I will keep you all posted!

So the 30mg kit only lasts you 10 days (I'm assuming that from the number of needles and wipes they give you), yet you're expected to take weeks worth to see the results?

MarvelGirl
11-14-2010, 07:10 PM
My husband and I just started this, we're on day four. We felt a little sick after the first two injections but today and yesterday were fine.

I think the 30mg lasts a lot longer than 10 days. One bottle is 10 mg and prepared it makes 100 units. The chart they sent us suggests taking 2 units the first three days, then 5 units for three days, then 7 units and finally 10 units a day until you reach the color you want. So the first bottle (10 mg) would last about 14 days if you follow their instructions.

They don't give you enough needles or alcohol wipes though. I expected more and was a little ticked off about that. We just went out and bought some.

The injections aren't bad, it's insulin needles so they're very small. BUT, it does hurt me. The solution burns when I inject it and it's uncomfortable for about a full minute afterwards. My husband doesn't get any burning sensation.

I yawned like crazy the first and second day. Just constant yawning, it was to the point where it was annoying. My husband seems to be having some sexual side effects. He gets random erections at strange times (working in the yard or just watching TV) and he stays harder longer after sex. The other night he was hard almost all freaking night. We had sex and went to bed and he stayed hard in his sleep. I was a little worried but he seems fine, just hard more than normal.

So far, no color change but we've only done four days. I'm willing to pop in here every couple of days and post any side effects we have if anyone wants to hear them.

Is drug interaction an issue? I take OxyElitePro and Rx anti-biotics if I'm sick, but I know a lot of people on here take a lot of different things for health and sickness reasons.

OK, day 7.
I still don't feel like I have any noticeable side effects. I don't get the nausea anymore but the solution still burns every damn time I inject it. That subsides within a minute though so it isn't a big deal.

I normally have lots of freckles on my chest and arms but not on my face, abdomen or legs. I'm now seeing tiny little freckles popping up on my face and legs but not my abdomen. They're very tiny, like little pin pricks but there are LOTS of them. I swear that the freckles on my chest and arms look darker but my husband says it's in my head. I can't tell if I have anymore there because I've always had a lot of freckles on my chest and arms.

I think I'm slightly darker but it's very hard to tell because it's not like you have any tan lines. At this point, it could be wishful thinking though.

www.newagetan.com (http://www.newagetan.com)

I bought the starter kit, be forewarned though, it will darken your hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, and bring out and darken any freckles you already have. You will look naturally dark, like it's your own color, since it even darkens your eye lids, lips, labia, etc.

Does it darken eye color? Because I love my light grey eyes...
