^That thread brings up some great points. Is it okay if I gave some imput--as someone who has been here for a while? I'll be completely honest: the money out here hasn't been 'amazing' since the tail end of 2007. If financial reasons are your primary motive for coming out here: DON'T DO IT. You will only set yourself up for disappointment this way. On the other hand, if you happen to be itching to go on a vacation then this is the perfect destination as you won't be using up savings (as you might normally resort to doing) during your time here. Also, I have noticed that alot of girls will use Guam as a stepping stone en route to Australia/Asia. It is very easy and practical to save here and then go to those destinations after your contract is up(funding them through the money you made out here). So, if you are looking towards coming out here just make sure you know exactly what your priorities are.

^I tuly apologize if I sound like a broken record about the subject--I just can't stress this enough as I feel like it would save contract girls alot of heartache=)

Re: the high contact thing...

When I was in Guam, there was no lap dancing. Maybe it's more common now... sounds like the format has not changed too much... I felt it was very low contact compared to most areas in the states. I felt a girl could be more conservative and make money, while other girls who wanted to be more liberal on stage or in the Champagne Room, could do so without taking away opportunity from the others... mainly because there is overall less competition. We made most of our money on stages and getting guys to buy drinks on the floor. A few of the girls at our club would literally get onto guys laps during stages but most of us at the time did not. I never did that. I would probably only do a Champagne room a couple times a week and avoided it anyways... I'm sure I could have made more money had I marketed them more, but I was happy enough with my earnings.

Re: Why we like it there...

Guaranteed Salary
Tropical Island Beaches
Free Housing
Free Airfare
Focus on Stage Dancing
Appreciation by Mgmt/Owners (that was my experience)
Adventure!

P.S. The other thing that I like about Guam is that it's easier on the tootsies because we weren't on our feet for 7 hours going around the floor hustling/doing dances.

^So true (regarding the contact). The method of working out here is so much different from that of the states...it really is wonderful for those going through burnout at lapdance-oriented clubs(as is going back to the states is you live here!) lol

CUSTOMS, DRUGS & RESIDUE
also MONEY MANAGEMENT & SALARY CONCERNS

disclaimer: info is based on my experience and current knowledge... there may be some changes in the customs laws or club practices

CUSTOMS may be more likely to give you and your stuff a more thorough inspection if they suspect you are a dancer... It's just the way it is. If you behave like a normal, respectful human being and wear reasonably conservative clothing, you are less likely to become a target. Whether you like it or not, it's just the way it is.

"Go with the flow." ~ Ancient Hippie Saying

This may seem obvious, but, by all means, do not travel with DRUGS and don't take anything that may even have RESIDUE on it, like a jacket you had a bag of stuff in the pocket or a purse that you might've stashed a roach in... get a new purse or wash your jacket if you're in the habit of keeping that stuff like that... They use beagles to sniff the luggage and they might sniff you out. I know a girl who was detained and fined in Hawaii because they found a small roach that she did not realize she had. I am not endorsing the use of drugs, but be smart about it, if you do, because you don't deserve to be punished.

MONEY at CUSTOMS ... keep in mind that you cannot travel with more than 10,000 bucks without claiming it. I don't think it's a big deal to claim, but you're more likely to be under suspicion if they find more than 10 grand and you did not claim it. Although, I recently saw a vid on YTube where some TSA dude detained and interrogated a guy traveling with appx 3,000 cash at an airport in the states. I suggest you ask questions/research from the sources.

On my first trip, I opened and account at Bank of Hawaii (sounds cool doesn't it?) I put my MONEY in every few days just like I do here. Unfortunately, the banks were not connected to the banks in the states. So when I left, I just closed the account and got a cashiers check. Assuming this still holds true. Check with your own bank on options.

On my other trips, I would get money orders every day and mail them to my bank in the states from a PostNet where I also obtained a mailbox... now that I'm more connected to the net, the mailbox is not as crucial. I had absolutely no problem with my money getting into my account. And this turned out to be way easier than going to the bank. My money was waiting for me when I got home, but if I needed it, I could still use my debit card. There are other options, this just worked well for me.

By all means, do not keep weeks worth of earnings in the apt. I know two girls who had about 3,000 stolen from them because they were storing it in the club apt. I'm sure there were plenty more incidences like this over the years. People are more tempted to steal 3,000 than a couple hundred. If they know you are storing it, they'll let you build it up and then take it. Take the time to play it safe and put your money in a safe place every day if you can or at least every other day.

Another advantage to traveling for work, is that almost all your expenses are an excellent TAX WRITE OFF (get with an accountant about tax strategies) It can really make a big difference in how much you may owe and there may be other advantages. I always make it a point to travel for work every year, because the write offs help me with other ways to allocate my money.

So not only do you get free rent, which is awesome for you gals who might not be tied to a mortgage or who may be in between leases, roommates etc... remember to look at the free rent as income as well or plan for this scenario. If you are saving 1,000 bucks a month for rent/utils that's an additional 3,000 for a 3 month trip. For me, that's a solid 2 to 3 weeks of sweat at the clubs here, not to mention the house I gotta sweat for too just to make that money... that's even more savings... the house/tipout... that's potentially 50 to 80 per work day that I don't have to sweat for anymore... Be sure to calculate these factors in to earnings from the beginning and it will make your experience all the more sweeter. Maybe you still average a little more in the end in the states, but how much harder did you work for it?

One other thing I did that allowed me to avoid a problem on two occasions was that I kept a neat and tidy log, very simple, of my earnings and logged in the dates that I received my salary. They paid our salary in cash every week, so there was no paper trail. Almost every single girl I worked with had at least one incident where they believed they were sposed to get paid and had to go by what mgmt claimed. When it happened to me, I was able to pull out my handy dandy notebook (it was just like the Blues Clues notebook too BTW) and showed it to "the man" who took a closer look at his records and realized his mistake and I got my money. This also shows the management that you will not be dicked around, if they indeed do pull these tricks here and there to save a few bucks. I don't think they did that on purpose, but it's not entirely impossible. It only takes 1 minute to write down a few numbers at the end of the night.

I kept columns for...
stage tips/other tips if any
drink sales earnings
salary
daily total

Then after I received my SALARY, I'd have all my numbers added up for each category each week with subtotals and overall totals and I could go back and see how I was doing in each category. As far as the club is concerned, they only need to know dates for salary, but keeping track of the drink sales separately, with dates, makes it easier for them to compare notes and see where the discrepancy is, because they probably keep track of your individual drink sales and the dates should mesh.

RECORD KEEPING is such a simple, worthwhile biz practice that helps you to be more conscious of how you spend your money and gauge whether you are saving enough and all that. You will feel empowered, by doing this. I rarely kept track of money in the states, but the times I did, I made more money and made better choices... it's funny how a simple little thing like that can make a world of difference.

If you were working in Guam during late 2010 through March 2011 please PM me. Just wanna know if you met some military guys I know.

I'm a bit confused about the whole airfare/withholding your salary thing. So you pay your own way there and then they withhold your salary for a couple weeks and when you complete your contract they refund your airfare+withheld salary+give you your return ticket? Or do they just refund your withheld salary and give you your return ticket?

Queen Jewel

I work at Club Foxy. How they do it is they pay for your ticket out, then withold your first 4 paychecks ( but you get your commissions and tips nightly) then you get paid $450 every 6 days in a paycheck until the 78 day contract is completed, then they buy you a plane ticket back home AND give you the balance of your first four paychecks MINUS your fee's for living in dancer housing ( $10/day to live in dancer housing)

What is there to do during your free time there? Is there a gym?

There are several gyms.
paradise fitness (50/ month)
Kontendas (50/month)
Hilton Hotel (75/month)
Westin Hotel (320/ all year, and the ONLY 24 hour gym avaliable for non military)

there are alot of bbq's, some high end shopping, and beach volleyball & snorkling. Lots of stuff for athletic people to do.

Hi all, I'm new to SW. I came across here while I was researching going to Club Foxy in Guam. After reading through various posts about Guam, I still definitely want to go, I;m just not sure it should be to Foxy..is there anyone who can give me inside info about Foxy?
And also, I am VERY new to dancing. I've been a bartender and recently worked at a very small local gogo bar where I was asked to dance and bartend at the same time when no dancer showed up to work. It worked out VERY well. Instead of my usual $120 I made $650. So I decided to look into dancing further...I'm worried about if I'll make out alright in Guam being so new to dancing?
Thanks in advance! <3

My Butter, which club do you work at? (Just curious)
Beautiful but deadly... I think I know who you are. Does your first name start with an R?

If anyone has questions about Guam I can answer them, but I would now actually prefer to have the questions posted here so I don't answer the same question repeatedly in PM's.

I'll write a review when I get back!

How bad are the roaches in Guam? I've heard it's common to find them in your home. Is this true? Is Raid/roach spray readily available to buy? (Sorry if that's a dumb question, I just didn't want to assume) If so, is it reasonably priced or redic expensive? Are they big? Do they tend to fly around?
What are the chances I can make it through 3 months without getting a roach on me or finding one in my home?

I know these questions sound really dumb, but I have a really big issue with roaches. I was doing some research on Guam and read some pretty awful stories of roach encounters. This isn't going to stop me from going, but I just want to know so I can prepare myself (did I mention I have an issue with roaches?).

Maybe it is just me but I've been living here permanently for five years and haven't ever noticed a roach problem? You'll see one occasionally but they're generally small. I hear of awful roach stories all the time and I wonder where these monster roaches are, lol? Maybe I've just never encountered them...anywhere.. Ants are a huge problem though, it seems like the closer you live to the water the bigger your ant problem is. My apartment complex has crew that comes into everyones unit to spray for insects once a month--and I still have freakin ants, lol! Mold is also problematic out here. It grows so fast and this environment is perfect for it.

Phew that is good to hear! I live in Florida and it doesn't sound much worse than the roaches here, and I've managed to deal with that for 24 years so I think I'll be ok... I actually looked up the species and they are the same as the ones we get. Not that I like the ones here, but at least they aren't giangantic or something.

I read about the ant problem. Sounds a little annoying but not an issue for me. I also heard about snakes being a pest... but honestly my only concern regarding the citters was the roaches.

I have another question (or 5 lol). It seems like Japanese tourists are a large part of your customer base. Is this still true now, after the tsunami and everything? From what I've read, a lot of the money girls make come from selling drinks, so I'm assuming this is a sit-down chit-chat kind of hustle. How does this work with the Japanese dudes, who I hear don't often speak English? Is learning some conversational Japanese worth it to give you an advantage? And I'm curious as to how culture differences come into play here. I know what kind of women fit an American man's fantasy, but no clue what Japanese men swoon for (though I've heard they like submissive ladies). Any insight on this would be helpful.

Sorry to bombard you, I just like to research and ask a lot of questions before diving into something.
Thank you for answering my roach question, it has definitely put my mind at ease!

Queen Jewel

Yes, the roaches are worse than anywhere else I have ever lived. But, I bombed my apartment a year ago ($15 at home depot) and havnt had a problem since.

The Jspanese like anything cute- pigtails, lipgloss, bouncy giggly girls. If you know some conversational Japanese, "Know-doh Ga Koe- why-ta" (I am thirsty) it definitly helps. I have a translater application on my smart phone, other girls carry around a nintendo DS with a game called "my japanese coach" by ubisoft.

There have been less Japanese since the tsunami, but they are slowly coming back and starting to be generous again.

I work at Foxys, I like it better than Oregon and Vegas.Just my 2 cents.

I know you didn't ask this question but I just had to add: One major cultural difference is that there is no jealousy towards dancers from Japanese women. They are respectful and completely appreciative of what we do, and you will often see couples come in and the girls *want* their boyfriends/husands to interact with you. I've always thought that this was very cool, lol.

That's actually really interesting! I'm an Anthropology major, and am a huge geek for languages are other culture. That's part of why the idea of spending some time in Guam is appealing to me.

OK, a couple more. I know asking about money is always a sensitive issue, and has been discussed about Guam before but a lot of what I saw was from a few years ago.
I saw a thread where a girl posted her earnings, which seemed reasonable to me, but said that she was the top earner by far and most girls earned much much less. And like I said, I think this was a few years ago.

I know that going there with the expectation of striking it rich is setting yourself up for disappointment, but what is a reasonable expectation for a nightly average in the summer (which is the rainy season over there, right?)... <$100? $100? Is $200 possible?

Also, how much do you feel like cattyness is an issue in the club?
If you end up sharing a room or apartment or whatever with a roommate who is not working out for whatever reason, is it possible to have your room changed?

sierra.
12-04-2011, 06:29 PM
Thank you! I'm a very laid back person and have never had issues with anyone I've worked with. I figured it was worth asking about, though.

I thought of a couple more, if that's OK.

First, any major differences between the clubs out there that we should know about? Anything to consider when trying to decide which club to go to?
I can't find it now, but somewhere on a thread I saw a breakdown of the clubs and what kind of customers they see the most of (Nazy, Air Force, Japanese). Is there really a noticeable difference/should this be taken into consideration when choosing a club?
I'm tall, thin, and blonde with small (but perky) boobies. Good looking in the face, often get told I have an "innocent" look. From what I've read it seems like from a physical standpoint I'd do well with Japanese tourists, so should I aim to work somewhere that sees more of them? Or does it not make that much of a difference?

Second, how far in advance should I apply? I actually e-mailed one of the clubs I was leaning toward (Viking) and asked them but so far I haven't heard anything back.

And, lastly, are there any items that are super expensive/hard to find over there that I might want to stock up on? I went to Brazil last spring, and sunscreen was RIDICULOUSLY expensive. One place I saw, the cheapest was around 25 reais (around $14) and the higher SPFs at like 80 reais (like $40!).

Thanks again, this has been a great help to me.

sierra.
12-07-2011, 10:16 AM
^Thanks! Vikings is my first choice, but I didn't realize they got booked up like that. Anything you can do to help would be much appreciated.

Originally I wanted to come around February, but after giving it some though I think it's best for me to come later, like mid/late May. The reason for this being that I'm a student and would rather miss a summer semester than a spring (not as many classes offered) and because that would coincide with the time of the year my club gets reeaaally slow. I am not pleased about having to wait so long but I figure it's the smart thing to do and being smart is better than being impatient!

So that's quite a ways away from now. When should I apply? Is the earlier the better so I can try and get on the list, or would they be less likely to take my intentions seriously (since strippers have the reputation of being flaky)?

I've been come back to this sporadically to read new responses, and I don't remember the exact questions that have been asked already, so if this is a repeat, I'm sorry. How strict are they on appearance in Guam? Do they allow tattoos and piercings? "Unnatural" hair colors? Even if they allow it, how well do you think a girl like that would do there, considering the main clientele is military and Japanese who like "cute" girls?

Earlier would probably be better. Alot of girls will remain in contact with him until they come out, that way if you are having any last minute thoughts you can let him know.

May would be a great time to come out. I'll be leaving in April at the latest so there will be at least one available spot for you, even if we are booked=)

So I should just go ahead then? And I can do that through their site, right? I'm asking because like I said last time I e-mailed them (it was just a question though, not really applying) I didn't get anything back, so I just wanna make sure that's the best way.

Do you know anything about bringing pets to Guam? I'm assuming they're probably not allowed if you stay in the provided housing? If you were to rent an apartment for your stay and they allowed pets, do you have any idea how easy it would be to get them there - like if you'd have any trouble with customs?

^^ Question about their requirements. They say they have certain body requirements (which I get), but one of them is that you have to be between 5'4'' and 5'8''. They say "no taller, our ceilings are low" but what if you're shorter? Would they be really pissed if I showed up and was only 5'1''? I feel like that's kind of a silly requirement.

From what I've seen, no, animals aren't allowed in the housing.

And, like Hawaii, there is no rabies in Guam. So bringing a pet over requires them going through a period of quarantine and probably some other bullshit.
Here's a link I found on it, not sure how up-to-date it is though, http://www.agriculture.guam.gov/programs/animal_health.htm

Anyways, this is the information I have gathered. Hopefully MyButter or someone with more firsthand experience can offer some insight!

Sierra is absolutely right, there is a quarantine process that animals have to go though. It seems like you can get the quarantine legnth shortened, but there doesn't appear to be a way around it. http://www.petsonthego.com/impguam.html (Sierra's link probably covers much more than this one!)

Im trying to go back to guam for the New Year I worked at gspot for 3yrs but My friend and I wanted to come out at the same time January is pretty slow in Bmore & I was thinking about a different club just to see how the island has changed. I work at mainly upscale clubs but Im very familiar with guam contact rules soo ARE THERE ANY SUGGESTIONS OF A NEW CLUB THAT WOULD BOOK US AT THE SAME TIME?

^I think your best bet would to be to contact whichever clubs you are intested in and ask them directly if they would be willing to book you and your friend at the same time. My club currently has a pair of friends who came out together and I'm sure it happens at all of the other clubs from time to time:)

I really, really, really wanna run away & start a new life -& think being in Guam could be a dream come true. I realize that money on the islands is harder than on the mainland> but weekly paychecks & tips sounds liveable -can one relocate & live & start a new life out there?

How high is the cost of living compared to the income of a stripper out there?

Great info MyButter and all other girls who posted. I've been considering this for a long while. I still am...so onto my own question:

What would you say the ration of black girls is in the clubs in Guam? Are they hot commodity? As in only like 2-4 at any given time? Or is it more?

And yea, that height requirement is kinda kooky i would say. Im 5'3 and most dancers that I know are not much taller than that. Most are my height or shorter witout their 6er's on.;D So I wonder what happened to the 2 girls that went out in November? ! black girl and a white girl that met each other at the airport after discussing here on the forum. Last I saw they were having a good time.

I saw that many of the clubs state that you have to work 6 days a week -that is so many days. I could realistically see myself working 4-5 nights aweek (I usually only work 2 or 3 nights aweek out here on an open schedule -I know I've gotten abit spoiled :-[) Is there anyway to negotiate w/ the club?

Also, I know that you guys do drink commisions. I struggle on & off w/ my drinking -if I wanna have fake drinks switched in sometimes is that a problem? How do girls & the clubs handle drinking situations & what not like?

I'm used to living by myself since I'm a natural loner & pretty much a nudist -but the whole military room mate thing for much cheaper sounds so very appealing. Thank you for letting me know. This would especially be nice to try & save up money & get alittle nest egg started. It's getting really hard to save any $ at all -city living is sooo expensive & the money is getting harder & harder to make. It's like living hand to mouth. Oi :-\

Also, they pay the airfare right w/ a 3 month contract, right? Or do they just reimburse you the airfare when you finish your contract? How does that work. Having an extra $2000 laying around in winter in Chicago is almost impossible.

Do you share an apartment w/ other dancers & have your own room? Or do you have to share bedrooms? I wouldn't care for sharing a bedroom w/ someone -but I'm sure I could adjust.

I'm also curious as to what club I would be a good fit at. I'm heavily tattooed, have nice clean dreadlocks, dark tan skin & features, very curvy & a gregarious personality w/ a super friendly attitude. By curvy I mean 5'2 & 130 lbs (measurements 38-30-40). Where would I fit or have problems getting hired? I could attach a pic if you like

Also this is off topic -but how is the social & dating scene out there? It's hard in Chicago -just hookups. Meh. Although, I am abit of a wild child anyways. Oh well. Lol. }:D

The bills sound even more insane than what I was even expecting. Wow. But it is stability & financial comfortably that I'm looking for so it doesn't sound that bad as long as I know I wouldn't have to struggle & could start saving money. Nice. :)

Also, how hard is it to get around out there transpiration wise? Walkable, cab, train, bus, bicycle, etc.?

Sorry, for the novel -but I'm always abit paranoid. Thank you!

I'm back with more questions!

But first, I wanted to share a site I found that has a lot of info on different aspects of life on Guam. It hasn't been updated since 2002 it seems, but I found a lot of the info helpful and interesting. I figured some of you ladies might like to take a look...
http://www.heptune.com/guam.html

Here's another site with some basic info...
http://www.guampcs.com/living-on-guam#lifestyle

OK, now I have a question about cell phones. What are the plans/pricing like? I did some research online but I only saw options for 2-year plans. I'm just wondering if there are affordable month-by-month or prepaid options? I am really wondering how easy it will be for me to call or skype back home to my boyfriend. He travels a lot for work himself, so we are used to being apart and not being able to talk a lot. I would just like to have an idea of if it's going to be a huge pain/expensive for us to be in touch via phone or skype or if we should just prepare ourselves for mostly e-mail communication.

Oh, and I sent my application last month and they got back to me right away. They asked me to keep in touch once a month, and said they would send me the contract as the date gets closer, which I've been doing. So everything seems to be going smoothly so far!

ETA: Oh, another thing I've been doing is reading the news for Guam. I mostly am doing this to help soothe my mother and sisters, whose initial reactions to me telling them I'm going to Guam were "But it's dangerous! You can't go to a foreign country (lol) to STRIP! What if they kidnap you/don't let you leave and you are forced into sexual slavery?! Where even IS Guam?" blah blah blah you get the idea. Which is ironic since I live in the 3rd (depending on the source) most dangerous city in the US. So I have been trying to educate them (and myself) by reading local news from there. I was wondering if you could tell me the name of some local papers/stations that I could add to my reading?

brandi, the contract is for 6 days a week for 3 months. so you can split that down to four days a week but then you would be there for six months. also, if you're traveling for work, working everyday is not such a huge deal because you're not going to have anything else to do.

I remember reading somewhere on here about girls having a hard time going through security at the airport when trying to come through with all their stripper luggage, and someone recommending shipping instead...
Is this really an issue? I believe someone may have had a bad experience but does this happen on the reg? I would rather just bring everything with me and not have to worry about shipping it...

I've seriously been considering making the trip to Guam. I'm burn-out already working full-time and in need of a change of scenery.
This has been a great thread!!
I was wondering in the different clubs are they gown clubs, bikini, etc etc.. I normally only change one time if even that in a night.
Does anyone have any suggestions about finding a roommate in Guam besides Craigslist? I was thinking maybe roommate.com or something like that..
Are there any major chain banks like Citibank or anything like that??
Are there working licenses involved?
Do you have issues ordering things on-line and having it shipped to Guam? Is this considered APO?
Is it cheaper to ship beauty and personal products instead of buying on the island?
I was also thinking what would happen if I bought my own round trip ticket. I don't feel comfortable having someone hold my ticket. When I want to go regardless of how many days I have worked I want to go... So would I negotiate a higher weekly salary? Suggestions please!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day!!!

I just wanted to pop in here real quick and say that unfortunately some stuff has come up that is going to prevent me from making the trip this year :( but thank you so much MyButter for taking the time to answer all my questions! You have been an enormous help and I really appreciate it!

I made this comment as a response to a non-US citizen girl asking about dancing in Guam. Since she would not have a legal right to work in any US state or territory including Guam, coming through US customs with a bag full of stripper outfits, 6" heels etc. could indeed cause problems for herself !

Also, to summarize a lot of the above, the contract arrangement with Guam clubs ( or clubs in other far-flung locations for that matter ) are treated as serious business by the clubowners. The airfare component of such contracts for Guam clubs, for US girls at least, is worth at least $2,000 to the clubowner. Thus the clubowner needs enough 'control' over the contracted dancer to provide some assurance that this $2,000 in additional costs can be spread out over enough nights worked in the club for the clubowner to have a reasonable chance of recouping his financial 'investment'. This translates into a very serious club schedule requirement ... as well as the withholding of some $2,000 worth of earnings from the contracted dancer until her contractual obligations are fulfilled to potentially cover the clubowner's $2,000 up front investment if a dancer doesn't fulfill her contractual obligations ( not showing up for work, changing clubs etc).

If you want something more flexible, clubowners won't have any problem being flexible with you in return if you pony up your own $2,000 worth of airfare instead of 'asking' the clubowner to front it !!! Whenever I danced in far-flung locations, I ALWAYS paid my own airfare and avoided long term contractual arrangements with clubowners ... if for nothing else than to provide myself with a 'comfortable' dancing schedule plus the ability to leave any time I so chose ! PS where travel to Guam is specifically concerned, if you have a passport and some flexibility in travel time allowing you to fly to Guam via Australia or Hong Kong etc., it's possible to get to Guam and back for a lot less than the $2,000 cost of flying direct from the US mainland or via Hawaii.

Guam's cool. You're better off just emailing the manager directing (the club's email is re-routed to Janet at The Best Dancers Agency), since the owner is the only one that can tell you when they have room and when they can purchase your ticket. Going through an agency is just an extra headache of a middleman, and I know dozens of girls on here haven't had good experiences with Janet anyway.
