For the girls saying to use deodorant - what, do you put it on right after you shave? And what do you use while you're shaving?
Besides razor burn on my bikini area, I also get ingrowns on my upper inner thighs. It's SO annoying!! I've been exfoliating with a sea salt scrub, but it's not working! Do you think the deodorant or neosporin would work there too?
And Bikini Zone didn't work for me either.

One thing you can do to cut down on razor burn is to go without shaving unless you have to. Repeated shaving of the hairs irritates the follicles and cause them to become ingrown and inflamed. You can try shaving ever other day to cut down on razor burn.
Also, use a good, sharp razor and don't go over the same area twice. Use shaving cream with moisturizers in it.
You can use rubbing alcohol to close the pores like suggested before. Ibuprofen should reduce inflammation.

I didn't just have razor burn, I had horrible ingrown hairs. Tend Skin has saved me. Took almost 2 weeks to get rid of the worst ones. I saw results on the minor ones within a few hours (no lie). I bought it from Sephora for about $20 and the bottle is still pretty much full. Highly recommend this product.

I have your same problem. At first I figured it would just take my body a few weeks to get used to shaving every day, but after three months no luck. So I have a few things to help it be less red but it doesn't totally fix it. I take a bath every day, and shave in the tub. My pubic hair is the last to go. I shave with a new razor every week, a five blade, and a bar soap. I don't like shaving gel. I never go in the opposite direction of my hair; always in the same direction as the growth. As soon as I'm out of the shower I start applying the Bikini Zone brand after shave bump lotion. It burns like a mother fucker at first because it has alcohol or something in it to seal up any cuts. The first 20-30 minutes of that stuff will make your down there area look red as hell. Don't worry, keep applying it (I usually apply it 4-5 times while I'm getting ready for work over an hour/hour and a half's time). After your skin has calmed and is no longer red, I wash the area with a gentle cloth and then rub Dove deodorant onto the area. It really soothes it and helps calm the skin. Try to find the original if you can but if you can't find something with a subtle scent. It helps my skin from being red, but you can still see the bumps sometimes. I'm getting all the hair down there lasered off soon. That seems to be the best decision...

Mens razors work the best... ex-foliate then vibratey Gillette Fusion is the best and if all else fails deodorant!

I used to get this really bad, to the point where I'd have little specks where it had bled from the razor burn. It was so ironic because I'd shave it and then it would look so bad that I'd keep my booty shorts on all night except for in the dark lapdance room, and so nobody would have known if I *hadn't* shaved.
I started using really fresh razors, I get new ones just from my bikini zone and then when they dull even a little, I get a new one and start using the old one on my legs where it can do the job for a while longer. And I ALWAYS put stick deodorant on the whole area right after shaving. Like, shave, pat with towel to dry, immediate deodorant. It stops any moisture at all getting in and so there's nothing to irritate it. Works for me :)

I start out in the shower and let the tub fill up with the hottest water i can stand and shave my thighs. i dont use any shave gel, just keep the area im shaving under the hot water. then once im done with my thighs, i sit in the hot water(turn off the water so it can get super hot again, and als add a little vitamin e oil to my water) and use shave gel to shave my lower legs. then i dip my legs in the water for a bit to get the vitamin e allover. by this time the hairs are nice and soft and ready to be shaved, so i turn the hot water back on and use it to shavemy entire area (no shave gel). the trick is shaving with the hot water hitting it. i figured this out years ago, and i used to get horrible razor burn even on my legs before. i hardley ever get razor burn unless i accidently forget to change the blade before it gets to dull. if i do get it, i use this stuff called bumpstopper. it is found in the black mens hair products(for men who shave their heads) and is the only thing i have found that works on me. the best razors are gillete fusion(regular not the proglide!) and schick hydro-5. and ofcourse avoid shaving when not necessary!

If you can't get rid of the bumps or the redness, try "Dermablend" for leg & body to cover up, I use it & it works like a charm & with the lighting in the club & on stage you can't see a thing.

Stick deodorant - the white kind; clear sticks tend to sting. Use it on the freshly shaved area after you've gotten out of the shower and dried off.

I used neosporin instead of shaving cream or soap and a new schick razor last night. I soaked in the tub for a while and then shaved last, plus I cleaned the area with an anti-bacterial/anti-acne face wash after shaving. No bumps, no nicks, and no redness today. Hooray!

i used to have this problem so bad but using coconut oil to shave consistently and letting everything grow out between shifts solved it COMPLETELY.

do u just bring the neosporin in the shower and use it while your wet and all.
I wonder if vaseline would work?

I took a tub bath and I sat on the edge of the tub at the end of my bath while the water drained and used the neosporin. I don't know how Vaseline would work. Neosporin, if I remember correctly, is mostly petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and then neomycin, polymyxin, and bacitracin for the antibiotics. I'm not sure if neosporin helps because it kills bacteria and prevents little infected pores or if it is mostly the petroleum jelly acting as a lube and barrier between razor and skin.
Hope this helps!

really super simple just shave then put on cortizone10 the aloe kind. trust it prevents swelling or kills it if it happens. and if you do get razor bumps just put on a good layer of it on the red/swollen area and it will go down/ lose its redness overnight. That stuff works for any bumps or redness really bc its meant to be allergy reaction cream I think.

Ladies, PFB Vanish! Google it and order on line it is my miracle. Nothing else has ever worked for me i've used tend skin, bikini zone, all that crap you name it.
It does cause your skin to get a bit dry so you do need to moisturize as well or exfoliate in the shower.
OH ALSO: I no longer shave down there cuz it just is not pretty. I either wax professionally and/or use Nair in between.

Reviving this or one more suggestion: exfoliate...like crazy! I use a pretty strong bristled brush down there and exfoliate every time I shower whether or not I shave. When you exfoliate it pulls up any ingrown hairs and prevents them before they really get going. I also apply deodorant after. I haven't tried neosporin but I'm going to! Sounds like a great tiip.
