I rent. I'm in Richmond VA, I have a two bedroom with a dinning room, 856 square feet. My rent is $847, then and additional $50 for my two dogs, water sewage and trash included.

Here's a link to give yo an idea of what I'm paying for: http://oliverproperties.com/search_results.php?building_name=Kensington%20Plac e

$1395 a month for a 1bd 1bath, around 800 sq ft. No dishwasher. No washer and dryer. But it's in a prime neighbourhood and is pretty sweet.. lots of period details, it's 100 yr old renovated building.

$832 for a two bedroom one bath, with hookups and dishwasher. It's on the small side, but it's a house with a backyard. It kind of sucks because it's on a dirt road so there's a ton of potholes, and the neighbors are kind of weird/trashy, and the water quality is really bad so I had to buy a shower filter, and me and the pooches get bottled water. I'll be moving out after the lease is up and will likely move into an apartment-- there'll be some trade-offs, but at least it'll be newer, better insulated, and less of an issue of location (not that it's unsafe-- it's actually pretty safe-- but I wouldn't live here again, probably mostly because of the water more than the other issues.)

$840. 2-bedrooms, one bath, off-street uncovered parking, pool with lifeguard, no gym, no pets, dishwasher, balcony, water and trash included (no other utilities included). One washer and dryer set per building (8 units). 930 sq feet. Great location from a geographic standpoint. Slightly above-average cost of living area.

$1050 a month for 3 rooms, 1 bathroom, off street parking. The living room is HUGE, I actually have it divided into a living room and office/studio. I get a great deal. It's a condo owned by a guy who lives in Florida. He likes the fact that he gets his rent on time every month and doesn't have to worry about his place getting trashed. My Mom lives in the same city that I do and I pay $850 a month for her studio apartment with a parking lot but no guaranteed parking!

$675 a month furnished 2 bedroom 2 bath, washer and dryer included, 10 ft .vaulted ceilings, 989 sqft. country club location (massive golf course but neither me or the husband play). All we pay is electric. Sauna, jacuzzi, tanning beds, swimming pool, club house (pool table, ping pong table, tv/snacks), state of the art gym with personal trainer on call. The trade off for all of this fancy shmancy crap at such a bargain is that I hate this fucking town. ^___^

Spinnerette I am so jealous of those amenities and space for that price! If you don't mind(I understand if you do) what state do you live in? And is the income level also lower there? Thanks

The state of Misery (tee-hee), and I'm not quite sure about the income level. There's a shit ton of sprawl in this town so most people my age are going to be stuck working entry-level retail/food services at 7.25 p/hr.

Wow, Im jealous of what some of you pay!!!

We're paying 1,500 (+$100 additional parking) for 1+1 and 1.5 baths, but its only about 705 - 720 (with the balcony) Sq feet!!!!

We got lucky as our landlord included all of the utilities within the rent price and thats RARE to find around here now, cable and internet is on us ofc.

I hate paying so much for rent, but the condo is 2 years old with an all glass finish and we have 2 balcony doors 1 in the living room and 1 in the bedroom with them connecting, everything is brand new, has 5APS, 9ft ceiling, w washer and drier.

It has a lot of amenities (3 gyms, squash courts, threater, spa, little stores below, 3 patios above the groud level w bbqs, 2 pools and offers free classes such as yoga, boxing, special events on certain days). It has very high security which is what I looked for when coming home at 3am. Now I cant wait to move out by the end of the year and finally start paying mortgage with the bf!
