So do you not pay the valet for parking your car? Do you not tip waiters or waitresses when you go to a restaurant (even one not at a club)?

As for me Ill stand up for the people I work around. Why? Because its imortant to have a good working relationship with people when you need them to help you with an unruly customer or they sometimes send customers to you.

Just think about it! Tipping someone for providing a service you use isnt a bad idea!

The point here is the Bathroom Attendant usually doesn't provide a service. If the valet got in my passenger seat and talked while I parked my car I wouldn't tip him. If the waitress sat down at my table, propped her feet up, and didn't bring me my food, I wouldn't tip her.

That's my experience with Bathroom attendants. They stand there and talk while I try and take a piss and then point to the tip jar on the way out.

Couldn't agree more. While I have no doubt that the bathroom troll serves a function that the club finds important, I have trouble identifying the value that he provides to me.

I'm not a fan of bathroom attendants, but they often have something I might want such as mints, gum or a quick spritz of a higher end cologne. I've always found a dollar per visit to be greatly appreciated. I can't imagine any BR attendant giving attitude over a dollar. Those single dollars add up. And honestly, I see more than a few guys not tip at all.

BTW, not all of these guys are losers. I used to like the guy who worked at Crazy Horse in LV. I believe his name was Victor. He was from Guatemala and according to him worked two jobs. I have a lot of respect for the guy, he's out their doing honest work to provide for his family, and he was a great BR attendant.

actually when you take a mint or use the colognes or gum or anything it's something they paid for out of pocket just to do the job. some attendants even pay the club rent to work there so TIP!

I think most of us can agree that if you take a mint, gum or use colognes then you should tip. You are correct that the attendent usually buys them himself. It's a different story if you use the restroom wash your hands and leave. In that case in my opinion a tip isn't required. Hey if you want to fine but it's not a service I want.

and men's room talk is always a wierd conversation situation for me any way.
i tip them all the time.

If you use the restroom and there is an attendant you should tip a dollar if you take a mint or breath spray (and some customers need it) or deodorant (d0nt get me started) then you should tip 2 dollars.

valets should get at least 5-10 dollars. bartenders and servers 30%.

Do the workers from your club read this site? Seriously.

But I hear you. And you know what? While I'm thinking about it, the DJ, House Mom and Bouncers are also functions that get too little respect. The House Mom should get at least $25, the DJ no less than 15% of your gross and the Bouncers should get at least $50-60 to share. After all, do you know how hard they work to make things good for you dancers? ::)

Or here's another idea. How about I decide how much I tip the bathroom troll, servers and valet and you can worry about how much you tip out to the DJ, House Mom and Bouncers. ;)

I take care of the people who take care of me. I expect my customers to take care of those who take care of them. I generally tip out 30% of what I make.

If you dont want your car scratched or stolen that is why they have a valet. If you want cologne, mints, gum, deodorant, breath spray the attendant has paid for them with their own money.

I would never tip a bathroom guy, the fucker can go fuck himself. This is just a greedy practice by a club to try and suck up the last dollar. Fortunately, they don't have these kinds of clubs in SF, the custys here wouldn't tolerate that kind of duchebag.

Theyre providing a service to you and if you go to a club with one you should tip the guy!

But lets ask this hypothetical question: if it was a female and she was as attractive and even dressed like us or even the cocktailers would you then tip her. Or is this just a man hating men who work in clubs out of jealousy thing?

I doubt they read this. I ask around once in awhile and Ive rarely even had someone say they know about it. SW has always been something that more longterm oriented dancers participate in.

And yes I average about 30% tipout because it means my car gets watched and I can always depend on a valet to walk me to my car at 2:30am, waitresses take care of my regs when Im with them or when theyre waiting for me and I can usually get my DJ's to play my music and not the ghetto or latino crap that annoys customers.

jealous over working in a bathroom for tips? LMAO!! naa! i just wouldn't tip them because the "service" they are providing is FREE anywhere else. thats just my opinion tho. If the guy is really worried about making money, maybe he should get a REAL job, maybe?

I'm not cheap and i do tip for other services, but stripclubs are ridiculous for charging for lame "services" that aren't really services. Tip for opening the club door, tip for pointing to a bathroom sink, tip for the person that gives you change of $20 for 1s, the list goes on.

they do provide a service and nobody works for free.

as far as prices in clubs goes well they can charge whatever they want, until enough stop paying 8 for folgers coffee or 5 for coors light then they will continue to charge market value.

Are you reading? We are saying that these guys DONT (generally) provide a service for us.

I have my own mints and gum, and I shower and take care of my hygeine before I come to the club. All that guy does is watch me piss, and maybe harass me with some awkward conversation.

THAT IS NOT A SERVICE

most dont watch you do that! Most of them step away then. At one club Ive been at the attendant was in a foyer kinda like place at the entrance to the restroom.

and yes you should pay!because I know youve taken at least something once.

Actually yes most do sit there and watch you, at least from the corners of their eyes. In most clubs they sit by the sinks, where they can be ready to hand you a towel. And yes, most of these sinks have a direct line of sight to the urinals.

it's a good idea to pay! eventually youll need the service and it wont be there because they cant find anyone to do it because they keep getting stiffed.

but tell me you wouldnt tip if it was one of us girls doing it. see my point.

I don't know why I've gone this far in this thread as I really don't have anything against bathroom trolls per se. I think my issue is with a dancer telling me what is useful to me in a club. :P

I'm in about 50+ clubs per year. In 45 of those 50 clubs I manage to piss just fine without the extraordinary services of a bathroom troll. Also, while we are at it, in 48 of those 50 clubs I manage to park my car safely without the help of a valet.

Some guys get a little irritated with the expecation that they need to pay for the services of a guy who is there more for the clubs' convenience than their own.

Now I tip everyone well - that's just how I roll. But don't tell me that a bathroom attendant is very useful - he usually isn't, at least for the guys pissing.

We're wasting our time rick, apparently Amy has more interaction with the Men's room attendants than we do. ::)

i would NEVER put anything in my mouth that comes from a pisswatcher. I have never taken anything from them...except when they steal the paper towells so you cant grab them yourself & so they can hand them to you.....Its an annoyance.

why would you need anything from them? who comes to a club and THEN takes care of their hygene? And i'm willing to bet that the people who havent taken care of it before hand.....dont really care about it.

Wow, this thing is 3 pages long now?

I'm the original poster, and I haven't been back to the boards since I posted this topic.

The discussion seems to have broken out into:
1) Do bathroom attendants provide a useful service
2) Should you tip a bathroom attendant
3) The general, if you don't like it go elsewhere comments.

For the record, as I mentioned in the OP, I tipped the bathroom attendant each time I used the bathroom. He turned the water on for me, and pointed me to a stack of paper towels. I washed up, and took a mint.
I'm a reasonably nice guy and would have tipped him a dollar each time even if I hadn't taken a mint. Should I have tipped more? I have no idea, I rarely run into bathrooms with attendants outside of this particular club.

The reason for my post, and my irritation that night, was due to the smarmy remark that he had made to me after I tipped him for the third time that evening.

That being said, here is my response to the three discussion points:

1) I don't think that this particular BA provided a useful service, while I am sure they exist, this guy provided very little value in my trips to the bathroom. As I said before, I would much preferred that he simply open the door for me on my way out.

2) As a general rule, if someone has a tip jar out, I put into it. I have respect for anyone that works for a living, and if tips are a main part of their income I like to contribute.

3) If it truly bothered me *that* much, I would go someplace else. At the time, I was mildly frustrated, having a hard time falling asleep, and was curious as to what others thought, so I figured I'd start a thread... A little venting is good for the soul.

I may take a trip out to the club tonight, and if I do, I will continue to tip the BA the same way I always have, even though I prefer that he wasn't there at all. Hopefully he will not make another snide remark, but if he does I will do my best to not let him rent any space in my head...

And that's all I have to say about that....

Lol why would this even be an issue? If it bothers you SO much then dont go there anymore and move on with you life lol theres bigger problems in the world than worrying what to tip someone.

I'd say giving the guy a dollar is worth knowing you aren't stepping in some sick-fuckers cum on the Restroom floor.. Lmao!!

Haha Plus he probably has mints..atleast mask the alcohol a little bit for your dancer :)

I've seen these people in Germany, and to a lesser extent the Netherlands. I've always wondered if they were legit, or if they were people who just camped outside the bathrooms and took change...

Are the streets full of poo in europe then? If you can't use a bathroom because you don't have the exact change, pretty soon the whole world would start smelling like that stairwell in a San Francisco parking lot I'll never forget.

And also, the bathroom attendant at my place always talks a big game about other side ventures he's got going on so we shouldn't feel sorry for him. Anytime now he's going to be running the show. Now this may seem like it doesn't quite fit with how he's been the bathroom attendant for several years running, but he's probably been using that time to establish business contacts with all the poopers who come and go while he scrutinizes them all to see which ones are possible investors in his schemes. He makes the most of our time together by telling dirty jokes and finding out what makes me tick, besides my need to pee that is. All in all, most of the bathroom attendants I've met have been nice guys and they've never seemed homicidal in the least. Nonetheless, if I go to the bathroom more than once I make sure to tip them because wouldn't that job almost have to make them homicidal?

Everything you ever wanted to know about strip club mensrooms was posted on the venerable ASSC newsgroup by the legendary CMG in March 1997

Absolutely you tip the mensroom attendant. Especially if it's Spiro.
