I LOVED Dancing at the Blue Iguana. I especially like the little documentary type bit they have in the DVD's special features. I remember Crazy Girls in L.A. just like that. Damn I miss it.
Hey, I'm in that documentary! Did you work at CG when they were filming that?

i have one to add!
yellow, with rosalyn sanchez. some great dancing...and her costumes were awesome!!!
a good drinking game would be to drink every time you see something yellow in the movie.
edit: ahh shit, someone already mentioned it. i really liked it though. probaly not as good a movie as powder blue but more watchable. powder blue was so painful at parts! i kept going, enough about the stripper, what happend to forest whitaker!??!0 but yellow has a lot more positive portrayal of a strip club and dancers... i really liked that there was not just strip club dancin, but also classical and ballet and stuff. i put it on my shelf next to step up, rize, stomp the yard, and all my other dancing movies (powder blue i don't consider a "dancing" movie). oh and i love love love that she got to work with a tranny...
plus rosalyn sanchez is just hot.

Frankie and Alice is a new movie that came out the end of 2010 staring Hally Berry. She plays the role of a Los Angeles dancer who has some sort of dissociative identity disorder and struggles to maintain her true persona. I apologize for not including a link. I'm on my smartphone waiting at the doctors office and sadly I don't know how :(. Has anyone else heard of or seen this movie?

no, thanks for mentioning it!
is it just me or has hollywood totally gone bonkers with actors and musicians publically announcing their multiple personality/dissociative identity disorder? beyonce/sasha fierce, miley cyrus/ave cyrus, mariah carey/emancipation of mimi...janet jackson/damita jo. even garth brooks has chris gaines. bowie had ziggy. gaga just is. thats all i can think of i'm sure there's more..... the guys from slipknot all say they have to wear the masks to be slipknot, they don't take them off, even if they vomit...always sickened me, the idea of somebody stewing in a puke-filled clown mask just to play some music. i feel sorry for their wives and girlfriends.
it's one thing to have a stage name, most people end up doing that. (winona horowitz = winona ryder. norma jean = marilyn monroe) i have had many names... and many "characters" that i have played or tried on, as a stripper/actor. we all do that. it's another to claim that the other takes control, and that it's actually a personality disorder that you have. to me, it's getting too creepy. and a little background, halle berry's parents supposedly both worked at a mental hospital and she's some kinda mind control experiment...
i really did love her in that one though, perfect stranger, she was flawless and the twist was great, she had some badass acting chemistry with bruce willis and giovanni ribisi. probably both mind control experiments too.
sorry threadjack.

Na, i wasnt all that impressed to be honest about the 'strip club king' documentary, it wasnt focused on the club per se, more about him being arrested and running for office, so all in all, meh x

Yes, I have seen it. Her gogo dancing was only a small part, but I was extremely impressed with Halle's acting. The way she went back and forth from one personality to the other was very convincing.
I think it will be released widely in theaters later on this year.

Again, another stripumentary. Yeah, you liked that? "Strippers: The Naked Stages." Pretty good. Kind of sad, though.

I LOVED Dancing at the Blue Iguana. Reminds me so much of the dive I started at.

^ Psh, was that a dive in the movie? I wonder what that means I worked in for four years... :D

My definition of a dive is a place that's a sports bar FIRST and strip club SECOND.

Not a movie but gstring divas series on hbo. It's a documentary type series like cathouse. I loved it so much.
^ Is that available to watch anywhere??
Yeah, on HBO.
I think its still on. I caught one episode recently, but, it was really boring. Maybe other episodes were more interesting.
Try this - http://www.tvduck.com/G-String-Divas.html
(I haven't actually tried it, so I don't know if that site is any good.)

It wasn't the club that reminded me of the dive it was the girls.

"Secret Things," a French movie, opens with one of the most beautiful, surreal, erotic strip-teases I've ever seen. The entire movie, though kind of crazy, is very sex-worker-positive, without over-the-top-glamorizing. I loved it.

eep! I hope you like it! You'll have to let me know. Like I said, it's kind of crazy, and it's more of an erotic thriller than a stripper movie, per se. But it's fun & sexy & has some badass women in it :)

I tried watching it, but the version I downloaded didn't have subtitles. So I was watching it, didn't have a clue what was going on, but it was HOT, regardless.

I am laaaame..I stopped watching it. For some reason, older movies are a total turnoff for me. I hate that I don't like older movies..but I just can't seem to get into them. :(
It seemed interesting otherwise! Just not my style. :)

lol.
I did find it odd, that during her strip scene she was already naked and wore BLOCK HIGH HEELS. ugh.

i was just joking. showgirls is awesomely bad but who dances like nomi does on stage...i mean that'd just look bizarre. yet entertaining. which is again why showgirls is so awesomely bad.
They are not going to sow a really hot dancer in a non-XXX-rated movie. If they did, I'd be going to a lot more of them.

There's a movie called "Yellow" that has some good dancing in it. Not the best film but worth watching.
