the tea party came out of people being upset at the bailouts, tarp and healthcare which is allobscene because who is paying for it? loans from china! we will be paying for it longer than our children will be alive.

The bailouts and TARP have been very successful. We would be much worse off without them. The government would have lost a lot more revenue if our banks and automakers went out of business. Our government is getting a significant amount of money back from the bailouts and TARP. The government just made $12 billion in profit from selling its stake in Citigroup.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/12/07/unloads-citi-stake-b-profit/

The main reason TARP and the bailouts are hated so much by the tea-partiers is because they're very uninformed, and get most of their information from dishonest sources, like Sarah Palin.

If you were one of the millions of people who needed health care, but couldn't get it because you're uninsured, I'm sure you would feel differently about health care reform.

As to the seemingly ever-present debate about what sort of fiscal policy would be best for exotic dancers, I am still sticking with the 'facts' as they have personally applied. Dancer incomes are heavily driven by guys earning more than $100k a year, and 'upscale' club dancer incomes are driven by guys earning more than $200k a year. If the gov't takes more money out of these guys' pockets due to higher tax rates, that will directly translate into these guys spending less money in clubs thus dancer earnings declining !

!

No, dancer incomes are heavily driven by the condition of the economy, not tax rates. I doubt there are any dancers that were dancing in the 90's, that would say they did better in the last 10 years than they did in the 1990's, when the tax rates were higher.

neither she nor the Republican Party's big political donors are that 'stupid'.

I think she is that 'stupid'.

I think she is that 'stupid'.

On the contrary: she may be EXTRAORDINARILY stupid when it comes to politics, current events, and the importance of diplomacy in foreign policy, but she is a VERY smart woman at business and publicity. I group her in with that nutjob Ann Coulter. Not for a minute do I think Coulter really believes all the shit she puts in her books, but you better believe she's a very rich woman now.

My interest in the Tea Party dropped the instant they allowed a religious zealot- who makes Bush Jr look like a genius - their defacto spokes person.

I liked what the Tea Party stood for early on, but for me, and many others, it died real fast when right wing repubs strong armed their way into it, and now use it for a shell to push their own agenda.

I feel the same way.

When big political money bought their way in and tried to use the Tea party (and maybe still does) as a prop for legitimacy. I went back to my beloved Libertarians.

She's in a better position now than she ever would be as a candidate.

I think she set her ego and political aspirations aside and cashed in many months ago.

Yeah, at some point she had to self evaluate and decide quitting her job as governor to dedicate her life to milking the morons who support her was a much better move than a short and catastrophic political career.

I'm sorry but she couldn't handle her position as Governor of Alaska. What makes her think she can handle the Big Boy Seat?

I would LOVE to see a woman in the big boy seat.... Just not Palin. Can you imagine? After she runs the country for 4 years and makes a mess of things, all the sexest bigots come out and say "see? We done told y'all womens were o'ly good fer in the kitchen! Yuck yuck yuck!".

That would be beyond irritating.

I wanna see a she-prez, but I'm willing to wait for the right one.

Thankfully I don't think Palin is all too serious about politics anymore....

I haven't watched the show (because I don't really watch tv)... but I've heard good things about it.

My own personal feelings aside:
Unfortunately (for her)... whether it's an interesting or entertaining show or not... Sarah Palin is one of those people that are cool to hate. She could cure cancer tomorrow and all the people badmouthing her would just keep on going.

What I find frightening about Palin is the sense that she doesn't truly represent belief in a platform, but rather just stupid aggressive ambition.

I think she's just lucky. She was very lucky to have been chosen as John McCain's running mate over many more qualified candidates. Then when she came out and spoke her views, she became very appealing to this certain segment of crazy people in this country.

The reasons why so many people disapprove of her are because of some of her extreme views and her dishonesty. Here are just a few of her documented lies:

I think she may decide not to run because she doesn't want to go through the rigors of a presidential campaign, but I do think her ego is so big that she thinks she is capable of being President of the United States.

Jesus fucking christ do you do ANY research or do you just listen to what your prophets tell you??

http://www.newser.com/story/103447/abstinence-only-states-have-more-teen-pregnancy.html

The abstinence program is a flop. Why? It's telling kids to not have sex, period. It uses scare tactics, which DO NOT work on kids, and shows them images of extreme cases of STDs, saying "This is what will happen." Well guess what? Not every herpes case looks like the Blob is trying to set up camp on your junk.

The reason we have such a high teen pregnancy rate is BECAUSE of abstinence. BRISTOL PALIN IS THE POSTER CHILD FOR THIS. Because we aren't treating our kids like the young HUMAN BEINGS they are. If your kid comes up and says "Mom me and my partner are getting really close, I think I wanna start thinking about BC in case things get too hot. Can you help me?" and you say "Absolutely not!" all you're doing is telling them that you won't let them have protected sex. They're going to do it anyway. Fucking HELP THEM DO IT RIGHT.

Abstinence as the ONLY option is a bad idea. However, abstinence ALONG other options (safe sex, contraception, adoption, abortion, etc) it could work.

Instead of "don't do it, or you'll get an STD" how about instructing kids about things they could archieve if they postpone unprotected/unsafe sexual intercourse (like great jobs, education, travels, etc.).

I love sarah palin's show. I love how she doesnt care what people think of her. We need a strong independent woman like that to be President.

Thank god for the Tea Party!

Yeah!! Thank god for tax breaks for the already rich!! I used to be one, so I can say that without....well without MUCH snark! I didn't support taxing the rich less when I was in those ranks. ::) The trickle down theory sure has been working. lol Our economy has been in the shitter since that Reaganomics (read....let the rich who are in control steal from the poor and middle class) crappola hit.

Also, HOW can anyone support someone who is so obviously stupid? Have you seen some of her interviews? I had the same issue with Bush2 tho and realized that most of our country must actually be as dumb as they are. It's mindboggling. I mean, I know loads of people who are way smarter than these new conservatives....and none of them are even close to smart enough to run the country. The mere idea is terrifying.

ETA - I wrote this without reading beyond the first page of the thread and I'm sitting on my laurels waiting to have a CT with dye to see if I have a cardiac cyst that may require cracking open my chest this evening....so forgive any idiocy. lol

No, it couldn't. We are still human and we are going to keep fucking. Telling kids to use protection is the only worthwhile option, telling them to wait is like telling them to hold their breath not to drown.

^^^ this is off topic in regard to the OP, but it's worth noting that Sarah Palin's effect on American voters is very much like this Sarah Palin thread's effect on SW posters ... it distracts their attention from the TRULY important subjects / developments.

Deep down, humans really are still animals. When you have a pair of individuals who feel deeply for one another and are horny, sex is most likely going to happen.

Oh no. I know why people disapprove of her.
I'm just pointing out the fact that at this point... it no longer matters what she does... most of the people who don't like her will still start foaming at the mouth over mention of her name.
I'm not saying that these people don't have reason to dislike her. Or that I disagree with their reasons. Or anything like that.
I do think it's a little silly how extreme the reactions to her are though.

Abstinence as a stand alone plan is for repressed types who think sex is bad, or what ever hang up they have. If you instill in your kids self esteem and self respect, they will hopefully have sex when it's right for them, and will (hopefully) have BC when they do. Beyond that, healthy people like to fu%$, and they always have, and they always will.
