Covergirl's volume exact has been my favorite for years. It's similar to Lashblast but has a thinner brush that I find easier to use. I really don't like mascara with traditional brushes now that I'm used to the volume exact brush, and Covergirl dries faster and is easier to build layers with than most brands I've tried. Still, I never dance without fake lashes.
I hated the Falsies one too.... very spidery and clumpy.
I LOVE Ysl Faux Cils, but it does tend to be runny. I use it on my upper, and on my lower I use Givenchy Phenomeneyes. Right now, the YSL is the absolute blackest mascara you can buy anywhere, they are the only ones using this type of pigment, it is VERY black!

Benefit Bad Gal Mascara. Its the only one I'll use, and I've tried just about every brand. Never clumps, goes on smooth and layers amazingly. Only complaint is that it doesn't really lengthen, and I have short lashes...need to be able to master wearing false lashes but they're so damn frustrating to put on!

I like loreal lash tubes when I'm dancing or performing. I like lash fantasy but don't remember the maker of it. Lash stiletto's original formula is awesome for me but I hate their voluminous formula. I had some of Max Factor's 2000 calorie regular mascara and liked it. Wish that was still around.

if I use an eyelash curler BEFORE putting mascara on, it doesn't matter what kind of mascara I use, it looks GREAT. I've literally used the cheapo $2.99 NYC brand and it made my eyelashes look long and voluminous. I'm telling you, curl FIRST.

Ysl = win
Although, honestly... I really like the Falsies. It seems to blend well with fake lashes compared to a lot of mascaras.

What brand?^ I'm looking for an inexpensive brand. maybelline no, l'oreal no. I so far like Essence brand, a cheapie Euro brand @ Ulta, the silver tube. It does have drawbacks, but so far one of the best. They have a few different types of mascara, thickening, lengthening, etc.
The Sephora brand Lash Stretcher mascara is actually good and cheap, but you have to know how to apply it, it takes skill. You have to work the brush into the base, and wiggle it upwards, you can't just slap it on because it's so fibrous. All the other Sephora brand ones I've tried suck!
On a side note, I LOVE the YSL Faux cils, but it's way too much for daytime light makeup look.

Thanks, hun.^ I think I'm going to try the mini size, of either Benefit or Too Faced. I do like minis 'cause I can use them better, for some reason, their size makes it easier to get close to my eye & apply.

I didn't realize Max Factor has been discontinued>:(
I have been searching for it everywhere, sooooo....
I am looking for mascara recommendations. I have just been using rimmel and I am not happy with it. I have used Max Factor since Junior High, so I am not familiar with any other brands.
Please help!
how funny... i was bored the other day and wrote a little post on my blog about mascara....
It’s odd that something I can take or leave in my everyday beauty ritual is something so necessary for late night looks. I have long, but fairly thin, lashes that are perfectly noticeable naked. One would think that it would be easy for me to find mascara. However, most mascaras either seem to lengthen, but not thicken or they cause my lashes to break.
Such is the case with most girls’ go-to mascara of choice in the familiar pink and black (or green) tube: Maybelline Great Lash (http://www.maybelline.com/products/57/eyes/mascara/great-lash-waterproof-mascara/very-black/1?shadeId=307). It’s cheap, never clumps, and makes my lashes look pretty decent, however I’ve noticed it makes them break off and sometimes plain fall out.
That being said, I’m not totally against Maybelline mascaras, I do like the Full and Soft (http://www.maybelline.com/products/52/eyes/mascara/full-n-soft-washable-mascara/very-black/1?shadeId=271) mascara. I’ve tried waterproof and non-waterproof, I prefer the latter. It also works well as an eyebrow tamer when the tube is nearly empty. However, it is definitely a more natural look and, as I previously mentioned, generally when I got for natural I don’t need mascara at all. So, I really don’t use it much anymore.
However, when I do want to go big, I want to go BIG. Like tranny, faux lash style big. When I was in highschool, I used to use MAC Fiber Lash, which appears to have been discontinued. I loved it, it would make my lashes extremely thick after 2 coats and they never looked “spider leggy”. I’m not sure if they reformulated or what, but Fiber Lash lost its luster after a while and I switched to Plush Lash (http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/shaded/152/1580/Plush-Lash/index.tmpl).
It’s a great mascara… It doesn’t make my eyelashes fall out or beak, gives great volumes, lengthens a tiny bit… but I’m just not sure if it’s worth the price since L’Oreal Voluminous (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=l%27oreal+voluminous+carbon&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=12431929863578477230&sa=X&ei=RQZ9Tdv8O8fXrAH87o3EBQ&ved=0CCoQ8wIwAg#) mascara is comparable, even better on some days. L’Oreal’s mascara is about half the price, sometimes even better at Ulta or Walmart. It comes in a few different varieties, I prefer the Carbon Black (as shown in the link). Gives gorgeous, gaudy lashes, however can have a tendency to be a bit thick and clumpy.
I’m currently trying the Extra Volume Collagen (http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/l%27oreal-voluminous-extra-volume-collagen-mascara/ID=prod5843086-product?V=G&ext=frgl_Google_Beauty) version. Only used it once so far, not really sure what I think. It seems very similar to late-stage Fiber Lash, but we’ll see. It definitely clumps a lot less than regular Voluminous, however it also doesn’t give the drag-queen status lashes I prefer.

Bumping this..
I don't like Dior, Lancome, or Loreal Voluminous. Or Maybeline, I liked their pink/green tube one, but it smudged.
I use a waterproof topcoat by NYX
