There really needs to be a way to upload more than one pic at a time.

OK, you guys spoke and we listened. Well, we listened and ran it all by our numbers guy. As I said before, the goal total was never supposed to seem unachievable and we certainly weren't basing our projections on a high failure rate. Failures might seem like good news for the site as we get to keep all the money. In reality people that we lose before they cash out are not only lost to us as continual earners (so we lose the long term return) but they also understandably spread their negative experience around the wider community. It doesn't take long for word to get around and for us to get a bad name if that happens.
Obviously we've done our research before reaching this stage but for whatever reason, the $500 goal never got red flags before now. Guess we were talking to the wrong people. Anyway, we're very grateful to you all for the input.
Our revised approach is going to be to cut the goal amount in half to $250. This is on or around what most of you have you have been saying is reasonable/achievable.
The downside is that as our processing costs go up and the failure rate goes down (naturally failure returns make up some of the projections whether we ideally want them or not) we need to find an extra margin for site return elsewhere. As you know, we did want to have $1 (or 1 credit) spent on the site equal $1 return. The plan was for us to take all of our margin from a small premium on the members credits.
The difficulty with stacking the extra margin we need to find on the members is that the price of credits then ends up looking uncompetitive compared with elsewhere. You might tell members that you're making a far better percentage with us than elsewhere, but if the credit costs seem comparatively high then they'll never buy in to get to that conversation.
Anyway, without turning off members at the front door, the only way to balance the margin is to stick a percentage on actual earnings. So we've decided to take a 10% cut of earnings. That's still 25% less than the cut of earnings that the closest site to our project model takes. We hope you'll consider it a fair trade off for cutting the goal amount to a level that's considered achievable and doubles payout frequency.
Re: the sentiments expressed that running goal totals that members can see may be offensive to participants and in fact counter productive to earnings. Again, we hear you. Although we've seen the goal based dynamic working well elsewhere, the points that some of you have raised about a goal focus making participants look needy are well made. We've decided that we can promote the "backing my girl" vibe better with top lists etc rather than having a focus on who needs $50 to get their money. Overall this is a more positive approach and we're happy to switch to it.
Re: the concern expressed by some that their real age was going to appear on their site profile. As said, the real age requirement is just for adult verification. As we're not bothered about the age that our members actually see on the page we're going to introduce a "make me younger" option in the profile editing page. With a few clicks you'll be able to roll back the years. We'll get this sorted before the site goes live and let sign ups know. If we suddenly end up with a site full of "18 year olds" then we may have to reconsider. If it's just used as a way to pick the age that you look then it doesn't do any harm and makes people more comfortable, so we're happy to adopt it.
Naturally now that we've turned www.virtualloveaffair.com into a little oasis tailor made to your instructions we expect to be overwhelmed with the rush of sign ups. Seriously though, even for those of you that think it's still not for you (or not for you right now anyway) we are very grateful for the time you've taken to inform us with your experience.
If any of you dive on the site right now you'll see the old payout goal. We're changing it now and emailing our sign ups to let them know the new approach (so you heard it here first).

If you have a make me younger option you should have a make me older option to. Just because we're women doesn't mean we automatically want our fake age to be younger lol.

Very true! There is a market for many different ages out there.
I have to say I wasn't sure at all at first but I'm impressed with the site and the changes. Very responsive team you have there.
I'll be adding some content soon, can't wait to see how it goes when the site launches. Could be a very fun and lucrative place.

When you upload content you have to classify it though, based on what you're revealing (like, if it's non-nude, or if it's super explicit) and there's quidelines for it. That'd definitely help with preventing refunds I think.

Question, I don't get it, is the money made JUST on selling content since there are no cam shows. Or do we make money off of the conversatios as well?

Oh yea can guys just contribute to your fund for the hell of it or for chat or do they only buy the content packages? I didn't think about that.
You do get $1 for every message (or $.90)
Arialandre

$1 for every message someone sends me? Hmmm. I would assume thats a private message though not just sitting in chat. Hmmmm. I don't knoooow. Right now it just sounds like a place where you have to talk to guys for free for ages and sell pics.
Juliette25
12-17-2010, 12:59 AM
Well it's going to be similar to MyGirlFund and MyFreeImplants but without camming. I do very well on MGF.
And yea private messages are what the guys have to pay for. But I'm hoping we can charge for live chat too since there will be that but not camming. Guys want to talk dirty and I don't wanna do that shit for free!

Answering some of the recent Q's.
The content guarantee is designed to give members confidence in buying your stuff. We can offer it because as MissEgo points out we're operating a content classification system. When you post a private content package you say if it's non-nude, topless, nude (Playboy safe), explicit (not Playboy safe). With a classification system you're clear about what you're offering, they're clear about what they're buying and everyone's happy.
Is the money made just on selling content? Aside from private message income, yes. There will be a tip option in chat (and on your profile page) and after the introductory free chat passes that we're offering to members have expired we will charge a small fee for a chat pass (mainly to discourage timewasters). Our thinking is that (like MFI,MGF) a member shouldn't have to pay on a per chat session basis to make the connection with you that will lead to him wanting to buy your content. The project model here is erotic content with a personal connection. He can go and get as many pictures and videos for free of girls he will never know any time he wants. He wants to buy your private content because he feels he knows you. Any obstacle to that (say $1 every time he presses the chat button) is going to be counter productive to making the connections that lead to proper money being spent on a content sale.
For normal chat there won't be a charge for individual sessions and girls won't be allowed to demand a tip for it. Yes, there will be timewasters (as there are anywhere) but the common sense market rules that you don't tip the bartender before you buy a drink or pay the BMW guy to ask about the car keep the doors wide open for the guys who want to get to know you and buy your stuff.
For special chat sessions (if a guy wants to cyber and that's fine with you) it's perfectly reasonable to ask for a tip. We recognise that there's a difference between providing that (which is a service) and taking part in the general "getting to know you" chat that oils the sales wheels.
Naturally we might sometimes suffer by comparisons with cam work. There might be things that you look at and think "I'd expect to get paid for that on a cam site". Although we'd expect cam girls to be good Virtual Girlfriends, this is a different game. You'll make most of your sales by making friends who want a feeling of intimacy with buying your content. We're not aiming to replace your cam work. As being a Virtual Girlfriend is something you can do with no make up on sat on the couch with a bowl of cereal we're simply offering an alternative way of earning when you're not "on stage". As our members can buy your content packages 24/7, you don't even have to be on-line or awake to make some extra income.
Re: wire payments - we don't have any plans to pay by wire at the moment. This is just because, as a registered company we may find ourselves required to make disclosures to tax authorities for payments made by wire. With e-wallet payments we don't have that problem - especially as we don't have your personal details on file anyway. We're not advocating tax avoidance, we just expect you to take care of that yourself. Using e-wallets for payments means that you won't have any tricky questions as a result of any information we be required to disclose. You're probably aware that e-wallet providers offer transfer services direct to bank accounts anyway. As said before, we're considering a number of providers, so maybe there will be one that suits.

From the login error you've encountered it seems that you are experiencing an HTTP_REFERER problem. HTTP_REFERER data tells the web page that you are currently viewing what site page linked to it. We use this data throughout the site to make sure that the page you are viewing has been linked to properly. To see this login error you must still have something blocking the HTTP_REFERER data. There may be a pop up blocker causing a problem or in some cases the advanced settings applied to your browser. Try again using another browser type (the site is developed to be IE and Firefox compliant) and add the site domain to any pop up blocker exception list (or turn it off). If you still have problems send a message to us and we'll see what other details we can look at that may be causing a problem. Sorry for the inconvenience, but as with many sites the HTTP_REFERER data is part of our security structure. We will get the issue resolved for you.

As I've stated to you on another forum (before I knew about the $500.00 payout limit) $250. is too high for a payout limit. Especially for a site with no camming.
What happens to the girls who only brings in $100? Or $225?
It seems to me that a lot of girls are going to get frustrated before making payout, and when that happens, I assume your site not only gets whatever money is left but also the content that was (I presume) signed over in some way to the site?

While we expect cam girls to make good Virtual Girlfriends this is a different experience for our members from the instant gratification of a live cam session.
Could we have recruited Virtual Girlfriends more quickly by setting a minimum payout of $50 or $100? Yes. Would this have turned the site into a less social place where all the Virtual Girlfriends start a chat with a hard pic set or video sell to hit the low payout and cash out rather than using the "get to know you, get to sell to you" socially driven sales model that we're aiming for? We think so.
Virtual Love Affair is not supposed to replace a woman's cam work if she's a cam model, but provide an extra income opportunity for times when she doesn't want to cam or it's not convenient. Our content sales system also gives Virtual Girlfriends the opportunity to sell their content items when they're not even on-line. We don't think you can get that particular facility at better payment percentage terms anywhere else.
Unlike other sites we don't operate an official or unofficial approval system. If you are 18+ and you complete the application you are accepted. All of the qualified Virtual Girlfriend applicants so far must have asked themselves the question "Could I make this site work for me and deliver income on a decent effort/reward basis?" and awswered "Yes, I think I can". We would much rather have participants self select like this, people that understand that the site is a socially driven sales model and achieving success involves developing sales relationships with members rather than just selling 1 video.
Is the woman that's signed as a Virtual Girlfriend that made $30k a year on another site worried about the $250 minimum? Probably not. In fact to hit your payout once a month you only need to sell a $20 pic set or video item 3 times a week. If you think you can't manage that then the site probably isn't for you, if you think you can, we're happy to have you.
"What happens to the girls who only brings in $100? Or $225?" - is anyone really going to drop out on $225 when they're $25 away from cashing out? There will be some low level earners that decide that the effort to reward balance isn't working out for them and decide to drop out and yes, we will keep their money. No great comfort to the woman that dropped out, but these returned funds will help to subsidise the exceptionally low 10% margin that we take from Virtual Girlfriend earnings. Ideally we want everyone to make a stack of money and stay forever, but obviously how well rewarded participation is will vary by the individual.
As for the uploaded content of any Virtual Girlfriends that stop participating - we only retain private content to continue to make it available to members that bought it. As you'd expect, a purchaser doesn't lose his purchase if the Virtual Girlfriend that sold it to him stops participating.
Unlike other sites we are entirely clear that 1/. you retain the ultimate copyright to any uploaded content 2/. we will only ever use our limited rights to your content on our domain 3/. rights to view private content are only ever assigned to members that have bought access to an individual item.
Any Virtual Girlfriend that decides they no longer want to participate can be completely sure that their images or video will not be used to advertise our site, will not be available for sale to members once her account is inactive and will not be sold on to any third parties. The policy of unlimited, perpetual and transferable rights to uploaded content of other sites is a joke and we do not operate that way.

As said above, we're still in recruitment to get the Virtual Girlfriend and member numbers right for launch. As an incentive to be part of the launch team women who sign up and qualify as Virtual Girlfriends before launch get a $25 bonus (which basically means we don't take our 10% earnings cut on the first cycle).

Is it true that we'll only be able to be paid once per month?
No, that's not true.
We don't know how quickly people will make their minimum payout goal. We'll start processing your payment as soon as the target is hit. Previously I was just using a month as an example of how often you would hit your goal if you made a modest $60 a week from selling content and receiving messages on the site.
It is worth bearing in mind that once your private content packages are set up on Virtual Love Affair they are on sale to our members 24/7, so making that level of income doesn't even have to mean nailing every sale in a chat session or even being on-line.
We could come up with some made up projections, but you all know earning speed is down to the individual. All we can say is that if you sell a $21 content package 3 times a week you'll cash out every 4 weeks, if you sell a $21 content package 3 times a day you'll cash out every 4 days.

We're very pleased with the recruitment rates (they're actually running above what we forecast) but spreading the word is always going to be much appreciated (just don't go getting into trouble with any other site's policies).
If all the Virtual Girlfriends that have completed the initial sign up uploaded their qualifying pics tomorrow we'd have those numbers well over target straight away. Obviously there's some that have signed up and thought 'No, it's not for me' but then there's also quite a few that probably want to see how it goes for others before they get properly involved. That's understandable, but obviously the longer people are just spectators the longer it takes to give them something to look at.
From our side of things we're obviously working hard on promotion, but we don't think the project needs a massive hard sell to women. We don't think the people that can recognise the potential need that. You guys all know individually what could work for you and if Virtual Love Affair could work for you.
Naturally we appreciate that there's going to be reservations to be addressed and questions answered and we also have things to learn from the valuable feedback we continue to receive.
The bottom line is that the initial risk for any Virtual Girlfriend is going to be a commitment to 1 hour of text based chat a week (or 4 hours whenever it suits them a month). For that commitment they get to offer their private content for sale on the site 24/7 and keep 90% of the sale price they put on it. They also get to keep the ultimate copyright to the uploaded content (so there's no angle for exploitation there). The fact that we don't offer live cam means that participation fits in well around live cam activities and real life. If any woman in the industry thinks that taking a chance on 1 hour of text chat a week to see if it could work for them doesn't make sense then there's not going to be much we can say to convince them :).
Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and offer to spread the word further. The site will be live in the near future - and we'll give you all a heads up when the launch date is set.

Oops - yes, that was the deal before, but we've changed the payment processor that we're going to use now. The new processor only takes 14 days to pay us. We'll pay out as soon as we've got the payment - so to start with it'll be 14 days rather than 30. We'll also look to reduce this turn around time as soon as the site has a float of operating income.

Sounds like you are either accidentally using the 'member login' rather than 'Virtual Girlfriend' login link from the homepage or using your site name rather than email address for the login process.

I am very interested..
However, I have some questions.. D
Is it mandatory that we be nude and such for pictures and videos?
Where is this business located? (for example is it a American Company?)
What do you mean by this? "Could you be a Virtual Girlfriend? You'll need to be able to read and write English, a decent digital camera, a minimum of 4 hours a month to dedicate to our project and a sense of fun." A minimum of 4 hours a month?
(I have a few other questions, but would like to gather my thoughts first and browse the site =) )
thanks!

Hi there -
Answers to your Qs:
Is it mandatory that we be nude? ***No. There's no nudity in the general access area of the site. For private content (that members pay to see) there's a category for non-nude content. It's up to you what you offer.
Where is this business located? ***The company is UK registered.
A minimum of 4 hours a month? ***The only obligation to keep your account active is to take part in or make yourself available for 4 hours of website based text chat a month.
Hope this helps - feel free to ask anything else.
