Yeah. I change up when I go on chat, because I'm trying to find a good time.
The site is still new, so not too much paying traffic yet, but I'm sure they're working on it...

That sucks ladies :( Im kinda glad I didnt do anything with this site. The $250 thing is such a bummer. I understand the site owners reasons for it but I still think Im gonna wait till theres more paying customers and site volume till I upload content.

It would of been nice if they reduced the $250 (to maybe $100) for the ladies that joined right away till they got some decent traffic. Then changed it back to $250 for the ladies that join after the traffic starts flowing. It seems like that is the least they could do for the ladies that took a chance with the company and loaded their "adult" content to the VLA site.
Btw, I think VLA sounds like it will be a good company to work for once they get the traffic for the ladies to actually make $250.

It's now a $100 target for everyone. The $250 target was always supposed to be a challenge but a level that could be turned over regularly. Those that have been following the thread from the start will know that picking a fair target was guesswork when we didn't have live site operation experience. Yes, all the VLA figures are going in the right direction, but it's only fair that we recognise those that are building the site popularity by making sure that regular payouts are more accessible with a far lower minimum goal.

I'm sure you've already thought of this, but I'm going to suggest it anyway.
A notification system for the following would be nice
+ when someone enters the chat room, the window tab could flash, or an alert could popup
(this is only temporary; once there are lots of guys in chat it won't be an issue, but right now I just sit with my VLA opening waiting and waiting; so maybe eventually it would be an alert that someone on your friends list has entered)
+ when you receive a chat, the popup window could flash

@lacyluck
really? I haven't heard it; a noise wouldn't be enough though, we need options! most chat programs have multiple notification system options, or at least one method that is not compromised by computer volume

I've trying to change my profile pic, as well as add sets; but I keep getting some MS script error message. I've sent a message on Twitter, but I decided to try here since some time has passed.

Hey ladies -
So I am trying Virtual love affair because of what I read on the forum. I didn't plan on joining until I read what you vets had to say about it since I am still a noob....
A couple things -
1. Uploading Pix - One at a time - it took me almost 4 hours to get all the things I wanted there. My question though, how do you delete the pictures you have already put up? do you have to do the ENTIRE package or is there a way to do it individually?
2. Account verification - I did this yesterday about 4-5pm EST and I haven't gotten approved yet. Anyone have any idea how long verification takes after you have uploaded the PIX with the logo written on it?
3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the $100 payout minimum only because that makes strive the goal for my car insurance payment...
:) I also just wanna say thanks ladies for all of the things you have posted here. I love the sassiness and honesty from you ladies :)

Another question - I uploaded both of my verification fansign pix and it says I have to upload one more when I login. However, in the place where you upload your pictures for the verification part, it already says uploaded and I can't get the second one uploaded. :)
I sent an e-mail to tech support to see what the deal was....
But I figured I'd let VLA know what my issue was here. :)

That's good that it was changed to $100, just wish the format was different, more chatters, more paying members, etc...

Lol yes we need to balance out the helpfullness with cuntfullness.
I just thought it was weird that she was babysitting this thread for almost 4 months now and still hasn't even made $100 off the site, I mean doesn't that strike anyone else as weird?
I dunno, I'm just getting into the whole industry, but...yeah.

I have posted lots of content, been logged in for well over 100 hours over the last two weeks, posted blogs, messaged members, etc. and have sold NOTHING and only been chatted with twice. No-one is ever online and if they are, they hardly respond, which I blame on the instant messenger being extremely buggy. Not worth it in my opinion, until they can fix the chat and bring in more customers and do better advertising.
If you look at the twitter, it is all just advertising, none of it is social at all, and they don't promote members, so why would you sign up? It just seems poorly executed. it's quite a shame, as the concept is lovely.

Briefly considered joining. I like the concept (like MGF, not having to be cam-ready all the time) but the site design is so awful/outdated. I think spending any amount of time there would make me want to stick a fork in my eye.

@tinka OMG I KNOW it is SO outdated. also, as I said before, zero traffic. I don't bother with it anymore, maybe if it grows and they update their marketing/pr/design. maybe.

Sorry to have been away - thread update alerts were accidentally ending up in my junk folder.
Naturally there are going to be some participants that don't feel a site that has been live for a whole 6 weeks is worth sticking with.
We've been completely honest that member participation has been lower than our level of prelaunch member recruits gave us reason to anticipate. Would hanging around for another couple of months to double that number for launch have made a big difference? We don't think so. The overall participation of prelaunch member sign ups has been poor, so double that number still wouldn't have been a big wow.
It's the nature of the business that until there's a door to go through, sign ups are just a participation maybe. The good news is that post launch sign ups are better participants, the bad news is that this means we inevitably have a period of building to go through post launch. To most of you with experience in the business this won't come as a surprise - and we had plenty of people telling us to anticipate this. Everyone starts from somewhere.
With regard to comments about the actual site design, this is all fair comment and everyone has an opinion. Design is one thing but what the site actually does is another.
MGF is the frequent comparison (although as they just lifted the concept off MFI and did nothing to change or improve it, the "free boob guys" really deserve the credit). Anyway it's worth looking at the differences.
1/. you can use your usual web name at VLA
2/. you pay only 10% in commission (save me the "new MGF 10% cut" headline - everyone knows it only applies to about 5 of their girls)
3/. your sale content is made available on an instant "pay to see" basis 24/7
4/. members that have added you as friends get automatic email alerts when you log in to chat
5/. you get your own profile/login page direct link to give to members
6/. you can use VLA's content package list include to display your sale items on any other web page you control
7/. you are not expected to cam chat
Pretty much the only thing that MGF did better on paper than VLA before was related to the VLA minimum payout level. We've changed that now.
Naturally we're not claiming that we're already delivering the same level of earnings as a site that's been running for years (although judging from what's been written elsewhere, everything's down across the board). We are claiming that VLA is functionally better (if points 1 to 7 above aren't better for you, then scrub that claim - we can't convince you).
Anyone who has been working with us for a while (or even anyone who has read through this entire thread) knows that we're reactive and flexible. If you think it's a good idea and we agree we get it done. We're honest about what isn't working and dedicated to constantly improving the site model to serve you better.
Compare that with working for an organisation that lies to it's participants about phoney security breeches and who's only recent innovations (the "10% margin" and allowing back a bunch of girls they had treated like crap before) were in direct response to VLA's launch.
Naturally it's disappointing to hear that girls have put in effort at VLA without a reasonable return. Obviously there were girls earning over that time period. If that list didn't include someone who was putting in a lot of hours then it's a shame but down to the guys that were parting with money on the given days.
Yes, more active guys = more chance of earnings. Almost all of our efforts since launch have been directed at building those numbers. To criticise the Twitter campaign as "not social" is accurate in a sense, but the account is in billboard/recruitment mode for a reason (and over 1200 followers in a couple of months means it's doing exactly what we want it to do).
There will be those that think VLA isn't worth the effort while it's building momentum and we do get that. The balance of new Virtual Girlfriend sign ups to opt outs means we have 30% more girls now than we had on launch. We're not going to run out of girls, but we also don't want to lose good people who have made the effort at VLA before the site has been given a bit of time to pay them back for that. Unless you are particularly single site focused, VLA will not be the only window open when you're web working. If you've already got your content for sale on the site it surely makes sense to remain part of VLA while we build the traffic to deliver reward for that effort.
My favorite zoecamgirl post (amongst the many positive posts on the subject of MGF) was in another forum... "It is a little weird that they (MGF) don't come on forums and stuff like other sites. But I think in the end it's a good sign - like they are too busy running the site"
Maybe. just maybe, their policy changed and MGF now participate as zoecamgirl? In which case, welcome to the board MGF!

So to confirm, when a guy pays for pics or a video, he doesn't get to dl it? Does he see it once or can he see it over and over again on the site?

There's no download option. The .flv format for all movies means that members can't download a copy (unless they are tech savvy and go off and get software that will allow them to screen capture).
All content unlocked as a purchase (or as a message attachment) has to be viewed through the site. Once a content item is unlocked the member can view it through the site whenever he wants and as often as he wants.
Thanks for pointing me in the direction of something else that we need to clarify :-)

also - have some thoughts to maybe make your twitter less spammy!
retweet when your models tweet that they are online - I emailed Liz so she has my info to retweet me and promote, but that hasn't happened; if there were some way to automatically tweet whenever a user goes on the site and into chat, that would REALLY help drive in traffic, especially since the biggest complaint I've seen is nobody being online
also, maybe instead of tweeting the exact same thing over and over and over, change it up and feature models and new content on a regular basis! that would be less spammy and more promo-related

All good ideas (and we did have a change of direction planned for our Twitter campaign). First phase was about getting enough followers (and for that phase the spammy "this is what the site is/does" message was important. Next phase is about getting them to do more than just join the site. We'll be integrating "live" stuff into the Twitter campaign today. I'll post more details when that's been done. Thanks very much for your input.

Actually we've established that this is not the case. It's like on mgf they buy then get to watch as many times as they want after that.
Yes, by "pay to see" I didn't mean "pay per view". "Pay to see" meaning that your content is loaded on the site and available for instant member purchase and access. This means that you don't need to manage distribution in response to a purchase. This cuts out all the mediafire link distribution and real time tech support issues you get dragged into elsewhere (no time is spent dealing with guys that say they didn't get a link, file X didn't download or work). It also means that you don't have to nail every sale in chat (a member can buy whatever he wants whenever he wants).
As all content is distributed through the site it also means that we can offer a content rating system that's guaranteed. You don't have to spend time in chat detailing exactly what body parts appear in each content item and the member can have confidence that he will get the quantity of media promised instantly on purchase and it will be the type of content he was expecting.
On pricing generally lower is obviously better - not just because we're in a recession but also because a member will be mentally calculating how much it will be to buy all of your stuff before he buys 1 item (it is a "relationship" of sorts, so he'll naturally figure out how much it's going to cost to be "involved" with a girl). As girls make a higher sales percentage on VLA than elsewhere it would seem only fair for prices to reflect that. As always however, pricing is up to the girls and what the guys are prepared to pay is up to them.

If you're going to assume a fake forum alias my tip would be to go for a bit of consistency. If you're using the "just starting out newbie" zoecamgirl on here, but you're the "MGF policy change" announcing zoecamgirl on another board it all gets a little bit too unlikely. That's quite apart from the zeal you've shown for rubbishing anything that isn't MGF.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, real camgirls don't wake up in the morning with a burning desire to post negative comments about sites they've decided not to join or the people who have joined - so your agenda is and always has been completely transparent. Still, it's in line with the MGF approach for you not to credit the women that use these boards with the intelligence to see through you. The only honest thing you've said is that MGF pays your bills - but I can't imagine anyone thinks that's as a camgirl.
At VLA we see the opportunity to have a conversation with our site participants and other experienced web workers as vital to our business approach. If that seems strange to MGF I'm not particularly surprised. Turning up here with a flimsy alias and obvious agenda and throwing rocks at adults having a conversation is not about to impress anyone.
