No. I only have to give the illusion of caring.
Hustling 101.
Well of course... This IS the adult industry. Giving an illusion of caring works but it doesn't really work in other industries. As a camgirl we have to do the same I just don't dance to such music on cam ;)

This is a thread on a stripperweb, a site devoted to the adult industry...... Sooooo.... That's the only industry that's relevant to this discussion. I think debating what you do as a camgirl and what I do as a stripper in a club is pointless because they are two different facets of the industry.

I went back and listened to the song again, the whole thing this time. A number of observations.
1) The counterplay of the women singing 'Make it rain trick.' etc., tends to balance out the repeated use of the word 'bitch' by the guys.
2) The last two thirds of the song is better, possibly because the different guys voices are better--though the first guy's facial expressions were still pretty funny.
3) I personally still didn't like the word 'bitch' being used quite so much as it was, but it was a lot harder to take seriously as other sexist rap songs due to the women singing, which made the song a lot more humorous.
4) I might play it if I used the last 2/3 of the song, and reduced the male voices a bit using the equalizer (not all that hard). But late at night probably. I'm still not really crazy about it, but I can see the appeal.
5) This whole thread and all the controversy have still definitely been worth it for a couple of the quotes by Pure and Sunny, who I do think have risen above the exploitation factors in this and other, possibly worse songs through their attitude and integrity (as far as I can tell from the very interesting points they have made here).
One thing I think we might all be missing, which could possibly smooth out the disagreement to some extent. It's incredibly easy for one person to listen to a song, like the beat, find it empowering in spite of any possible sexist lyrics, etc., but have another person--especially males--listen to the same song and have it encourage sexist tendencies and bad behavior. The same song can have an entirely different effect on two different people.
I have seen it in the club innumerable times. Some of these guys get all riled up and act like idiots when you play certain music. Maybe it doesn't bother the women dancing, and more power to them, but I don't like to see the customers acting like assholes.
I will never forget one night a bunch of Coast Guard guys were in the club (for some reason they can sometimes be the worst, worse than Navy or Marines!). They were lining the rail, but only half were tipping. One of the dancers was trying to work them and asked me to play 'Smack That'. The fucking guys went crazy. But still only half were tipping! But all of them, every fucking one of them, were all vigorously and repeatedly spanking the girls onstage.
Meanwhile there were a bunch of older people sitting at the tables around the stage, watching all this. There was no room for them at the rail, so they couldn't tip.
I cut the song short and played an AC/DC song. All the guys got this really confused look on their faces, I swear. It was like they didn't know what to do. I kept playing classic rock, and they got up and left the tiprail and lined up at the rear wall of the club. The older people at the tables moved to the rail, where ALL of them were tipping the girls, and NONE of them were spanking them.
Now it might not go down like this at every club, and certainly not in a club without any classic rock fans, but it sure made an impression on me. I know you CAN influence how a crowd acts during the night to a large extent by what kind of music you play. I have never played 'Smack That' again, but we tend to get a lot of macho military types who get riled up easily.
But bottom line is, if Pure and Sunny and others like the song and it gets them psyched for work, I don't really see the harm in it. Reading what they wrote here has definitely been a positive experience for me, even if I also agree to a large extent with what CamWhore, Pamand, and others have said about the danger of sexist lyrics being taken for granted.

Im not big on this type of music either, but in my club I always made money off a song that repeats "……..SHAKE YA ASS BITCH IMMA THROW THIS MONEY…….." and they threw the money on that song…sooooooooo if it makes money, do it. if not, then dont do it.
Simple.

Nope Im a CAMWHORE for real, no really, a true slutty webcam host , A fetishist enabler , a Kink enthusiast. ON MY OWN. Never at the HOPES you will pay me what you think im worth. I charge per minute , meaning if you saw some ass, I ALWAYS got the cash UP FRONT.
sorry for whomever that may offend.
Moving foward....
Any other questions ladies? Picking at me personally wont help win your argument in whether the song is degrading or not.
Fallacies all through this thread.

my only argumant was that it was degrading. never did i say you guys should not dance to it, I said I wouldnt. Who the hell am I? Not a dancer, so im not sure how I can affect the mood of this thread. That's weak. A dancer couldn't make me flinch talking about cam stuff. xoxo !

Not reallly. She goes by camwhore here on sw and Nina to her customers. She doesn't dance to degrading music on cam. She also works from home and not a strip club just fyi. As camgirls we have a bigger playing field that strippers do.. that's a no brainer.

Well said!
Fact of the matter is some women don't have respect for themselves.
... that you can see on this thread :)
Its not about respecting yourself, its about money. When Im out in the street, off the clock, Im not in a thong dancing to this. Im full of respect for myself.
But when Im in the club (before i quit) I had bills to pay, and if the crowd throws money on a certain song that calls me a bitch, then thats what Im gonna do. I can't be on the stage dancing to "Jesus Loves Me" because my lights will be cut off and I wont have food in my fridge. Its music, and its what they like.
<<and before someone goes and says "well do u let em touch u wherever they want because its money?" No i dont.I Draw a line. Ill dance to a song tho>>

To reiterate what jasmine22 said, I'm pretty sure we all do things that could be considered non-feminist or even anti-feminist by some people (shave, wear makeup, call other women sluts or whores, dance to music with questionable lyrics, work in the sex industry, ect).
It happens. That doesn't mean a woman doesn't have respect for herself. In fact, I think insisting a woman doesn't have respect for herself because of that is very judgmental and anti-feminist.
One thing I think we might all be missing, which could possibly smooth out the disagreement to some extent. Exactly. There is a difference between something being personally empowering and politically empowering.

I know exactly what I'm worth and I get paid upfront too, for all of my lapdances and VIPs. Not stage, obviously, but stage money typically accounts for about 1/70th of each nights earnings.. and it doubles as an advertisment so the customers can become fans before I even meet them. And I like it! Sheesh. You are relentless aren't you. I'm not attacking cam girls for christ's sake, but I am definitely defending club dancers.

Bigger playing field? I would say it's just a different playing field. The internet and night clubs are like apples and oranges.
Also, this is strting to sound like a cam girl vs. stripper competition. Come on, really...

So anyway...get this! At work last night, this girl--a customer, we have a LOT of female custies here in the Keys--comes up to the booth and is all excited and says 'Can you play 'Make It Rain Trick'??!!
At first I thought it was one of you! We get a lot of SWers down here, I met one on thursday or friday too.
Unless there's another song by that name, I think she meant this one. Which gives proof to the hypothesis that people hear what they want out of the music. If it was a guy he would have asked for Ima make it Rain bitch.
I am thinking more and more I need to make a remix of this that focuses on the women singing!

Please and I would love to hear it.
I looked the song over and over again and I like the girl singing but what the guy says.. I don't mind he calls us a bitch cause it just a word.. But when he starts talking about OTC is when I would draw the line.. I believe it will only make the morons say "I made it rain.. so come home with me.." I don't want any song that insist we go home with them.. I would really like to hear songs that encourage people to tip without all the other hassle..

no, dont worry, I wont go so far to disrespect the dancer area of this forum. I like healthy debate, but like I said I;m not a dancer so I wont go that far with you guys. Its one thing to have an opinion, but another to completly tell someone about there job... right there is where I give you your space.

That is just how you think and that is a pity. Sorry you feel that way. No it's really not all that different. One is live the other isn't. Having been a stripper in the past I know. Just saying.
Djoser, Interesting POV!
