I can see where they are saying that i slandered them. First of all that was unintentional, I was only gathering pieces and clues from what was told to me. from now on I will keep my mouth shut, but that will only hurt other models in the end...
Is that as close to an apology as I will get on here? :P
Next time just ask us first, we received emails for many models regarding the email that camwealth.com sent out. Some angry, some not so angry, in the end once we pointed them to our blog post. Point is they went to the source first.
Also we are not "run" by a camgirl, funny thought though.

I have problems with this on MANY levels.
First, CamWhore did insist that they were hacked and that it wasn't just CamWealth, so she did technically slander them. And probably owes them an apology and a retraction.
But SECOND, they will prbably never get it, because they acted rashly and impulsively, and publically threw her off their system which seems like a 4 year old runs things. If I were them I would apologize for that, since they did not give her a chance to retract her previous statements.
Thirdly, this just goes to show how fucking carefully one needs to be before spouting off about others guilt. On both sides, wrongness was done, and on both sides there is now intensity and anger.
BOTH SIDES SHOULD APOLOGIZE and MOVE ON.
Because the reality is, this was not CAUSED by CamWhore!
This was NOT caused by Camgirlspot!
This was ALL caused by CamWealth completely throwing CamWhore under the bus, and then backing over her carcass several times, shitting on her, and then leaving her for dead. THAT is the problem....
THAT is where we should turn our attention...
THAT is where the anger should fly...
My .02 cents.

PS and I told camgirlspot to come here, read this thread and clear their name if the feel the need, because all of you were saying LOUDLY (CamWhore top among them) that these other sites haven;t said anything and don;t care...so I gave them the opportunity.

Slander is a tort, or , meaning a can be brought against someone who is accused of slander. In the United States certain facts must be established for someone to be found guilty of slander. Assuming there is proof that the uttered the alleged statement, the statement must be overheard by someone other than the subject or other “privileged” parties. Slander must also clearly identify the party or entity, and the
intent must be malicious.
;)
**I just wanted to add it wouldn't be slander, it would be Libel, just had to point that out because it was getting under my skin...lol

Why not email support asking if we were hacked? Why did you just jump in and start posting that we were hacked? Did you verify this information anywhere? Maybe you are different, but most websites are not very receptive to emails about security problems. The typical response, if any, is to tell the user that it's their fault, maybe they have a virus, maybe their roommate stole their password, etc. etc. In the meantime, user accounts are being compromised. Be honest, how have other companies reacted when you, as a user, emailed them about security problems?
And truthfully, you cannot say with 100% certainty that you have not been hacked. Hacking doesn't always leave traces. Someone right now can be sucking data off your server and you might have no clue.
CamWhore probably should not have make the explicit statement that you had been hacked. She did not know that was a fact. But it was the right thing to post information to this forum that she had been hacked so that other models can verify their data is safe.

I agreed with everything written here (except what I quoted above). Most websites are a bit uppity when it comes to having their security questioned...which is bullshit because I have had scripts inserted and shit on websites I was pretty darn careful with...so it happens, and as long as you're pro-active and work at it, and keep updating security, you can't really blamed for being caught by some new exploit or hack...
Also, we don't ever want to stifle free speech, or keep people from being warned. It was the wording for CamWhore, and nothing more. If she wrote "It was reported to me, and I have NO confirmation of this, that camgirlspot was also hacked, so we need to check that out further.." that would have not been objectionable...But I'm done with all that..CW knows my feelings and I think we're ok right now...
The quoted stuff above...no good...you cannot ever prove a negative and so that doesn't fly...without ANY evidence that someone HAS been hacked, it is wrong to claim they have. Period. Your phone calls have all been recorded by secret government agencies, prove they haven't...You've been abducted by aliens who probed you and gave you a forget drug, prove it didn't happen! These are the same type of statements...we assume sites AREN'T hacked unless some evidence truly shows they are.
And it's obvious that CamWealth was scrambling NOT to admit to an Open Directory, and still haven't said it outright. Because it's admitting liability.
As a matter of fact...Who ARE the 4 camsites they allege were hacked ICC, and CGS and them...and????

NickT,
You bring up some valid points...
We take security very seriously. You are correct, the majority of the time, it is a user-related problem (ex typing in the wrong password, or using a shared password across all sites) [for anyone who does that, its very insecure, check out LASTPASS.com, great password keeper]. We try our best to resolve all issues, sometimes it can be overwhelming. 90% of our user accounts are free and our resources are spread very thin.
But if multiple people have the same issue common sense would tell you to look into it. (example, 10 people all report that their profile was deleted, or 5 people get contacted by someone who has their home addresses)
The only private information that girls give us is their email address, and a user-name. So in a full breech that is the extent of data that could be breached.
I believe that the attack that may/may not have happened is related to PHP exploits with are a direct result of allowing users to upload publicly accessible images. The problem is that in a GIF image, a user can insert their own PHP code, and if they can access the file, they can sometimes get the web server to execute the code.
Lazy programmers tend to just check the *.gif extension for a valid GIF file. Less lazy programmers may check the content header (which is easily spoof-able). Finally the least lazy programmers tend to draw the image and see if it returns a valid H & W in pixels for a more robust image check. It is still possible to insert PHP code and get a server to execute it (I think PHPBB or vBulliten was exploited in this manor with avatars, a while back)
Overall protecting a server that allows a user to upload files to it, is tricky. Other methods involve BLOB-ing the data and sticking it in a SQL server, there are risks there too, newer SQL platforms have some new features that allow for both a database and filesystem derived datastore for binary data.
You are correct that it is possible that a stealth hacker has "sucked" all of data out of servers. It is also possible that a meteor will crash into earth tomorrow and we will all die. It is also possible that I will get killed tonight. (my point is theoretically, anything is possible). The true question is how likely is it that it will happen. Since we don't store IDs, real names, DOBs, or address, the chance of that data getting leaked from our website would be 0%.
I think what is most important is that you really never know how secure your data is(look at how many times facebook has screwed up and leaked data that was supposed to be private, anyone remember the "chat bug" that would let you see anyone else's chat windows?). But anytime you give out data you do not want to be public you should review their security practices, ToS, privacy policy, etc.
Your thoughts?

is it just me?
when i opened the email that said this was a rumor , I felt betrayed.
I happen to be a very loyal model, but this just took the skin off my ass. I defended this site, took "shots" for this site, and I open my email to something that is calling me a liar.
really?
am I lying?
hmmm.
ok let me just say this, I didnt want to sue because it was a conflict of interest and it was fucking with my heart. YES I HAVE A HEART. I also was just stressed out period... I am human.
but uhm, I dont see any loyalty to me so, uhm, fuck it.
I have the REAL link
I have the emails sent by cw
I have the yahoo convos between me and the "hacker"
I have the yahoo convos between me and camwealth staff where im reporting this to him , letting him know the shit wasnt locked.
Im to loyal for my own good, I swear to go that email made me want to slap the shit out of them.
I understand trying to save your own ass, but not at the expense of calling me a liar, like my reputation is not on the line.
Most of you guys may have never spoke to me on a personal level. But i build alot of relationships with people in this industry. I dont need to make up stories. I am going to get paid regardless, I did my time. Why in the hell would i even make something up about a site that i make the higest percentage on.... REALLY okay.
fuck you pay me now, for your stupid ass mistake, you no loyalty having site.
When I was done reading this, I felt like crying! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
