I applied for a Streamate account (as a cam girl) last night. I am wondering how to find out if my photos and everything was accepted and how long it will take to be approved. I saw that we could contact Vanessa and I sent her an email. Is there anything else I can do? I'm needing to make some money as soon as I can.

EDIT: I was accepted.

What should I start out with, rate wise for premium and private shows?

Congrats! Will you be camming using the HD Encoder? Will you provide good cam quality? If so, I would start with $3.99 for private and $4.99 for exclusive and see how that goes! You don't want to set your your prices too low since that will attract tons of freeloaders and assholes!

Thank you so much for this thread! I keep coming back to read it because it's so helpful! I've only been camming for about 2 months but I have come so far and you ladies are so intelligent and kind that in these couple of months I'm turning my life around and feeling so much better about myself. Thank you!

Hi, Long time stripper here. I'm wondering... can I cam from outside the US longish term without a work permit for that country, etc?

annabellz
09-24-2012, 01:35 PM
^ I dont really understand what youre asking.

If youre a US citizen and you sign up to a cam site they will ask you for your ID and SS # and payment info. If you are going to be broadcasting from a location outside the US, lets say London, you may run into a problem because the cam site will detect you are attempting to connect to its servers from there. A simple email contacting support and explaining it is in fact you and you just happen to be in London for the time being will rectify it. If you switch locations again- the same thing may happen- so again you may have to contact support and repeat the procedure. its basically a fraud prevention measure. Camming is a work at home profession, so you can work wherever you want.

However being a non citizen or resident where ever your traveling and doing long term work there with out a permit could be risky. Chances are because you'll be broadcasting from home or wherever youre staying no will know youre working. So be discreet.

Plenty of cam girls have went on vacation to other countries and have broadcasted without work permits.

Thanks for your response Annabellz. I am looking into so many options for moving. Seems like camming can really open some doors. I have been dancing for SO LONG tho, and it has been a crutch. I admit that I am scared to try something new:-/

Hey I have been camming for two weeks. I made 234 the first week working barely nine hours, that was cool with me. I got fired from my "real" job so I figured that I would try the camming as much as possible until I can figure out something. This week I barely made it to 135 and I am sitting for like an hour with no privates or exclusives. My placement isn't that bad, second page. I just don't know if I am doing something wrong.

annabellz
09-28-2012, 09:25 PM
^Doesnt mean youre doing something wrong, but it doesnt mean youre doing everything right either.

At the beginning you'll have a lot of traffic because youre new (regardless if the site has 'new model' tags or not) regulars on the site will recognize the new face/new name and come check you out/spend a few bucks on you in prvt if they like you just because youre new. Some of them will be back, some wont.

The ideal time to cam is when theres the most paying traffic. Thats when men get home from work during the after dinner/before bed winding down hours. Thats when you should log on. Depending on your time zone, you might want to log on earlier or later to catch other zones or Europe.

So providing your on during 'peak' hours and you have sufficient lighting/equipment- the next thing you should look at is your attitude. Sitting on cam for an hour with no sales is disappointing, but if you let it show on your face its pretty much guaranteeing your next hour is going to be the same.

So fake it. Really really fake it. Dont ever look bored. Guys love to compete for your attention. They dont know how many other users are in the room, or if someone else is typing to you in secret. laugh for no reason. When they ask why, tell them someone sent you something dirty that you cant share. make yourself appear popular and desirable. Work on your hustle and learn how to close a sale. Maybe check out other models rooms to see if you can pick up some tips.

Thank you annabellz!

I really appreciate the advice! I just sucked up my feelings, got online tonight, and faked it HARD. And lo and behold, made sixty bucks in three and a half hours. :) I had a lot of fun too! I notice the more I just have fun the more guys want to hang out in my room and end up going to private! So I just talked about whatever music I was listening too, pretended there was another guy in my room when it was quiet lol. I think I can do this, this can tide me over until I figure out what I am going to do. I appreciate the advice and support. :)

Thank you all so much! Over the last couple of days i opened up a couple of accounts and have been stalling on starting... too many questions going through my mind, and you seem to answer them all, and give good tips! I feel so much better now! I am gonna give it a try... I am gonna start off with non-nude, and just stick to it, regular schedule, and be patient. Wish me luck :)

I'm scared I am going to be banned from AW!
What happened was I was in Direct Cam on JustCamIt. And I've noticed 'Guests' come in there-assume they log in via some other method, not actual adultwork members?
Anyway one of them said he wanted a skype show so I said to book and he said 'Guests can't book, I will give you 45 minutes and pay you through paypal.

Now, I'm not THAT stupid. So I ignored him and he kept on and on and on. I did reply once saying that paypal do not accept any adult industry monies so no. And he kept asking. At one point I said 'Why are you a guest, haev you been banned?' And he replied, 'Yes!For paying girls directly instead of through AW!'

Anyway I had decided I was working until 10pm and it was 5 to, so, I asked if anybody wanted PVT and if not I was logging off, and again he responded with 'YES!45 Minute show on Skype!
Anyway I use Skype only for work. Only one real life friend who is on my skype and only because it's his only means of chatting to me (he lives abroad and doesn't have fb) so, I logged off and added this customer, mainly to tell him to STFU.

And on Skype, he said 'You were breaking all the rules in there' and I asked why, and he said because I had mentioned googling my name to get my website (if you google my AW name, you get my work facebook (not my personal fb).

And then I said okay noted, what else? And he said 'No just that one but you're not doing yourself any favours. I can tell you how to make much more money on there.
I knew he was a dick, so I decided to have some fun and humour him. I said 'Not assed about that hun, I only use it part time anyway' and he replied 'So, if I tell you how to make £1000 a week for doing nothing, you won't be interested? And I said 'No, anyway, tell me about you, why do you want to make a complete stranger lots of money'.

He said that he just did it as a hobby, and to make girls more money. I asked what was in it for him? Do they suck his cock then or something?
He said no, but he does get things out of it, and he likes to a)tell girls how to make more money by altering their profiles, b) make sure they get paid directly without paying commision to adultwork, and c) keep things seperate.

I picked him up on his spelling of 'Separate' and then he became arsy and told me to stop picking rows. I said I wasn't, and said that I was still curious as to what he got out of helping people make lots of money?

He told me that he had had enough of me, he had already answered my questions and to come back when I wanted to chat and not pick rows or be arsy. I replied that I think he wasn't responding to my question because I hadn't done as he wanted and added him on facebook (he kept asking for it!) and hadn't said 'Oooh yes, make me lots of money lets be bezzies!'

Now he didn't reply and then I blocked him on skype. I don't know-I'm scared he may contact AW and tell them something , tell them I shared my fb (I didn't really do that but I may have implied it) or lie and tell them I've done something else.

What do you think. Should I contact AW and tell them? Can they retrace my room tonight and see if I've mentioned googling my name ? Looking back I really know I shouldn't have. I'm newish to camming, or at least to doing it as often as I am doing now. I'm just a stripper that got curious and decided to try camming as well!

Don't worry about it, nothing will come of it. He's not even an AW member! He IS playing you though, if he was genuine it would make no odds to him if he paid through AW or through paypal. He's offering the paypal option so he can do a chargeback and get the show for free.

You can offer skype shows, but they have to book in advance and pay via AW. And yeah, you have to pay AW's cut, but you take that into account when you set your prices. You don't think "I don't want the poor little lambs to pay more than £2.50 a minute", you think "I want £1.60 a minute for this, so I will charge them £2.50"

It's up to you if you offer free chat or not, but if you do, I would CERTAINLY disable the 'guest chat' option - they are people that literally can't pay you because they're not members and have no credits.

Hey girls :). Another newbie here :). I just started camming one week ago :). I'm just sad that I'm on page 5, but... Oh well... It'll get better (I hope ;D). It's been fine for now, I'm pleased with my paycheck for the first week and am waiting for it :). Haven't had any assholes for now (I think it's because I upped my prices - 3,99$/min. and 4,99$/min.). I'm using the HD Encoder, have a Logitech 900 cam and have a solid Internet connection. I have a core i7 (or i8) computer so my streaming is going pretty smoothly :).

Anyways, I wanted to ask you if you have any advice on talking while camming :). I'm from Europe (Czech Republic to be precise) and I am not comfortable with talking while camming. I don't know why is that, but I'm scared that everybody will "laugh" at me if I don't know to how to make a proper sentence or don't know enough words or for my accent or... I don't know what other reason. So, please, if any of you have any advice on this topic - let me know, I really need to start talking, because customers want me to and I just can't :(. It's really frustrating. And I would love to hear from non-American girls (I would love to hear from you ladies too, but this is your language and it's natural for you to speak it) how do they cope with that and do you speak while camming?

And yes, I've noticed that only American girls talk while camming... I really don't know why is that.

Anyways, thanks for the advice and I'm pretty happy with this job and the paycheck :). Best payed job so far. And you ladies are wonderful.

I´m european too. My answer is try to watch more porn and more other models how and what they speeks and then write down good phrases and practise the good pharases before camming. Practise and talk alone before camming=)

It really helps me to read this thread every now and then, even though I am not a new camgirl. Each time something different catches my attention depending on what I've been concentrating on with my work, or where my mind has been going lately.

haha ~ I don't want to scare anyone with thoughts of where my mind has been going lately. :-D

Such a great thread. Thank you!!

I do camming as it enables me to work around my children, if they are sick or on school holidays i dont have to ring in to anyone and have to explain why i wont be in work, if i want a day off a week off a month off i take it, i am the boss and thats the way i like it, cant bear answering to people in the 9-5 average job.

Had my own business before and wage was the same but i had to work a lot harder.........not that camming is easy cause at times its not, you get out what you put into it.

The only down side is that i guess my children will find pics of me etc over the internet one day, i have been honest with my family bout what i do and my older children know............they will be bought up to be liberal minded and not think sex or porn is a sin............

camming is not the best job in the world , can think or better things to do than stick a dildo up me for money BUT there are not going to be jobs out there that allow you to be so flexible pay you as well

I'm starting to get the hang of working on MFC... but I do have one question.
I know your camscore is based on online time + tkns..
But does 'online time' mean from the moment you are logged on even if you are simply browsing (not broadcasting), or just when you are in chat/broadcasting webcam?
Like, is my camscore getting any lower when I'm signed in only editing my profile and stuff and not necessarily working?

Vlodina

I've heard it's any time that you are logged in. So don't watch other girls while you are logged in!

VioletOctober
01-08-2013, 11:40 AM
It's best to make a perv account to watch girls. My cam score did drop a few days ago when I was playing around on the site but not actually on cam.

Yes your score is based on the tokens/time online. And for MFC, that means anytime that you're logged into the account.

Great point! I read all about amazon wish lists before I put one up but I forgot to mention that there were some things I had to do specifically like setting up a p.o. box- And I didn't put my full name- just Ms. and the first letter of my last name on the address for the wish list on the second line of the address form (where the 1234 Example Rd typically goes so most don't even see that!). :)

Amazon wishlist still aren't completely safe. Buyers can call inquiring about the purchase and get your information. Amazon e-giftcards are super easy and have rapid fast delivery. I have a wishlist up for reference, but only accept the giftcards.

I was going to get one this weekend and do clips4sale at first. I figured I could start there and then when i actually have privacy I could cam a few quick shows until I get a consistent schedule.

I think I actually get more business because of my accent. I'm from Singapore and my spoken english has some mistakes and my accent is still pretty strong but I find that if I am dressed in a school-girl skirt, speak softly and smile a lot, the men respond very well. I made $700 my first week only 10 hrs of work); actually made more when I didn't have sex on cam.
