I'm officially back on SW! I have another account but forgot the password, plus I wanted to completely start over anyway. I tried my luck with MFC for a couple days, made a couple hundred tokens before totaling chickening out and never coming back. Im feeling more confident this time. Hopefully I can do better this time around.

This is such a great thread! I'm five months in and I am still learning so much, its like a never ending stream of information. I really really want to make MFC work for myself, it seems great. I am currently on streamate and webcammodels.com. I am doing ok, but like I say, you can never stop learning or improving!

Me too! I made money on a deal there but that was the only time I ever made any, so i left. I am also struggling to define my niche, but I am hoping that positivity and hard work will help me through

I've had a few guys ask me for skype shows, saying they would tip through the site (as they normally would) then I'd give them my skype username through pvt. This sounds more profitable, but is it against site terms and conditions?

OMG I feel like an idiot now, lol. JOI has to be the most requested thing I get, I accept the shows and I've never had any complaints but I always feel a little awkward the whole time like I'm not doing it good enough. I've Googled how to do it and have found a few things to help me out but why haven't I ever though to WATCH a porn video of it, durrr, that would help a lot I know, hahaha.

I notice there are a few women who don't do anything nude and are making $. But they've been on awhile and have a following. So do you think there is $ for new girls who don't want to show any nude for free? Or maybe ever? I haven't decided how far I'll go yet.

Another newbie here. Gosh so happy I found this forum! I haven't started yet. Everywhere I read said it took about 3 days to get approved on SM so I sent in my stuff with plans to purchase a new laptop with a better cam etc this week. and poof approved like almost ASAP. I guess I could have started tonight but I just do not trust my current comp. It craps out when I use Skype all the time! so Starting this week sometime. I'll keep you guys posted with how first night goes. Good luck to other newbies!

Hello all! I'm another new girl just introducing myself. I just installed my new camera and I have one toy, i just can't seem to work up the courage to get on cam for my first time on SM. I guess I'm afraid I will freeze or I just don't feel trusting of my sex appeal. Im just thinking too much. Anyways I am extremely thankful for this site and all the women on here, I have been reading through all the advice for a month or so. Hopefully I can find the courage to just say fuck it and get on cam soon.

Most places you can pretty much get away with not showing your face. BUT, ask yourself why you don't want to show you face. Are you worried about being found out? Because let me tell you that someone can recognize your room, a scar, a tattoo, your voice, pretty much anything and realize it's you. Personally I suggest if you're worried about your face being recognizable look at the youtube posts that show makeup transformation. Transform your face, use a wig, do what you have to do to make you feel secure. Because at the end of the day if all you end up doing is being scared you'll be found out you'll barely work, make almost no money, and probably still be found out. Do what you have to do to make yourself feel secure with your choices.

I know how you feel. And you just sort of kind of have to do it. Its not so bad once you are on. I am a newbie also on SM. Out of all the places I signed up on I like SM the best. You will have a lot of peepers coming in and out of your room really fast but dont feel bad it happens to me everytime i am on. But I can normally manage to get a private at some point. And everyone is different just decide what you will or wont do. I dont go nude or anything unless Im in a private. I just chat and dance to my music and do my own thing. if they are interested in you they will take you private. But I know there are a lot of cheapskates on the sites and will just watch you. What can you do other than ban them. Which I have not had to do yet and dont want to do. it can be a lot of fun once you get o ver your your nerves. its really not bad either so go for it. You can always log off if you dont like the experience. GL and keep me posted

I'm pretty sure there's a three week payout delay on Streamate for non-US models. Email Liz at
[email protected] and ask her if you can be taken off of the payout delay.

There isnt a payment delay for me..I am in the U.S. It says on my account the checks were issued. I have spoke to Liz and all she keeps telling me to do is to have my checks reissued. Why? So I won't get them again?

I love this thread, I have went on and off camming for the past 3 years due to living at home so it was hard being on cam as much as I wanted to because of family and such.. Now I am happily married and living with my husband (who is completely okay with my job preference by the way) so I'm officially starting fresh and new tomorrow! I ALWAYS come back to this to read it all over again, it helps with the first night jitters I get every single time and anything I might have forgotten.
Good job ladies :)

Hey everyone, I just want to pop in to thank you all for contributing to this lovely forum. I'm currently working support for a cam site, but the night hours are eating at my soul and crushing my creativity. Watching the gals on cam via my job has given me a look at a world I never would have seen otherwise, and it has drawn me in. I'm currently in the process of saving up enough to purchase a cam-dedicated laptop, as well as a logitech cam, and keep enough left over for rent through April. It will be nice to be able to adjust to the cam life while I don't have the threat of bills over my head!
Anyway, this is my way of saying HELLO! I hope to get to know you lovely ladies in the months to come, as I stalk the forum for any information I can devour. Kisses!

Hi Girls - I love this site. I've only just joined the camming world. I'm a mature gal and I don't know what to set my rates at on SM. I'm currently on 2.99 for premium and 4.99 for exclusive. I'm only a beginner and today just for two hours of chatting first time ever I got $50 which i thought was great as all i did was be nice in public and then took my dress off in premium but did nothing sexy just chatted. I thought that was awesome. I get young guys (im 47) and they were all very nice respectful and complimentary. I dont know what my deal is yet but i will learn my husttle thanks to all you fab girls!
So the question is - for a noob mature how much should I set my rates at gals?

I know this is a lot to read, but it's all VERY important information from the pros!
Security
-Make up a fake name and tell NO ONE your real name ever - make up a fake real name if you want.
-If you don't want family / friends to find out, cam on sites where you can block locations.
-Never use PayPal. If you set it up incorrectly, you're giving the guys your full name. No matter how you set it up, PayPal could find out, freeze your account, seize the money, and block you from ever having a PayPal account again. Guys can also easily get refunds that you cannot dispute, or even worse - they could reveal that the transaction is adult-related. Not worth the risk.
-When signing up for a site, upload an ID that doesn't have your address on it (such as a passport) or use a PO Box on a state/province ID. More info on this in the links below.
-If you decide to get a domain with your cam name, make sure to get the privacy protection when ordering a domain. Without it people can search the domain (under "whois") and it will reveal your real name/address. Do research about adding 2257 compliance, trademark, copyrights and anything relates to having a website with adult content.
-Set up a Google Alert - - for your real name, so you can see how often (and where) it shows up on the internet.
-There are a few threads about keeping yourself safe; I've linked to them at the bottom of this post.
Cam Sites
-There is no "best site" - everyone has different shows and personalities, so everyone will do differently on sites.
-Popular cam sites: Streamate, AdultWork, MyFreeCams, ifriends, ImLive, cams.com, webcams.com, LiveJasmin
-Sign up *directly* with the cam site - do not sign up with a studio, because they rarely do anything to help you, and leech off your income.
-Beware of camsites that do not protect models against chargebacks (customers get a refund from the shows they purchase - sometimes the reason for the refund is over fraud, stolen credit card, and the other times they're just assholes and just want to get money back). Do a search on here about chargebacks and which sites are highly known for allowing lots of them.
-Read the Terms Of Service. Will the site be recording your shows? Will the site be posting some of those recorded shows for their own profit? It happens. Make sure you know what the Terms Of Service are.
Techy Stuff
-Yes, you will need an actual webcam; the built-in cam on your computer will not suffice. If you can't afford one, you might be able to get away with using your built-in cam as long as you have lots of good lighting.
-Logitech Pro 9000 or c910 HD are the most recommended cams.
-Laptop vs pc... it depends on your personal preference. Having a laptop gives you more range - cam from the bedroom, the kitchen, the car, etc.
Using a Mac
-Always check out the site to see if it's Mac compatible and if not; get yourself "bootcamp" or "parallel" and Windows software to run it from your Mac. Make sure to get webcam that is Win compatible to run it.
-If you're using an external webcam, using Mac platform, and have built in i-sight, you might experience i-sight loading up on the flash site and not detecting the external webcam. If this happens just open up i-sight in another application - such as photobooth - keep it on, and then when you go back to the site the external webcam should then load up.
-i-glasses is a good add-on tool if will be caming on Mac platform and don't have a webcam with zoom. i-glasses can be used from apple remote to zoom and adjust colors features. It's basic type software and you can get by using it.
Your Show
-Decide on your shows before you start! Keeping your boundaries is easier when you've already set them. Another point that goes along with this is: if you are going to be doing nude shows, decide before you even start if you will be doing nude in public shows or in private only! Don't flip back and forth.
-Free chat should generally be used to show that you're not a bot and that you have a personality; use paid chat to do the bulk of your show (after all, you're doing this to make money, correct?)
-Don't ever do things for free. Ever.
-Smile! Always!
-Yes, your shows will probably be recorded; no, there is nothing you can do to prevent this. The only thing you really can do is download a program like ManyCam and watermark your video with your cam name, so that if someone does record you and post your vid somewhere, they are promoting you.
-Don't give up! Whatever you do, don't. There's a girl for EVERYONE.
-Make sure your cam space is neat and clean. Nothing distracts a potentional client more than dirty clothes on the ground or over-flowing garbage!
-It's generally believed to be a good idea to 'train' these cam customers to not expect too much attention from you, ie: holding their hand through free chat. Give them some attention, be polite, but if they want one-on-one, they should be paying for you.
-Check out what other girls are doing in their roooms to get advice on what you can do (especially on myfreecams.com) but don't copy it, take pointers and make in your own! Guys come to your room to see YOU, not anybody else! If you're doing the same thing as everyone else, why would guys watch YOU?
-Unless you're super mindblowingly hot, just sitting around and looking bored will NOT work for you. It will NOT drive people to your room and it will make them think you're also that boring in a private show. Never go on cam without putting in AT LEAST 3 minutes worth of thought into your show.
-Don't turn on your cam for free; make sure you have been paid first! Guys will also try to trick you by asking you to verify you're not a robot. Someone on here mentioned they give the guy the finger.
-Try to be strong; do not let rude and insulting customers get to you. You will get visitors that will make insulting comments to you. This isn't always the case, but it does happen. If it gets very out of hand with them, do not put up with it; you can block them out of your room.
-Watching porn is now considered "research". Do it. Lots. It's a great way to get ideas.
-Buying other girls' videos and pic sets is totally fine. Telling her you're a newbie and want some ideas for free is definitely not okay.
-You might need to invest in some outfits, makeup, and supplies. Think about your *character*, not you. What would she wear? What would she use? DO NOT buy things right away. Make do with what you have until you are sure that camming is an income, not an expense.
Behind the Scenes
-Promote, Promote, Promote!! After you choose your cam name / persona, make a Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Email, Blogger, etc.
Twitter especially is very useful - tweet when you will be going online or when you have special offers; if people know what's going on, they're more likely to participate!
-Don't expect money to be thrown at you. We are performers, social-network-fiends, webmasters, promoters, photographers, picture/video editors, ... the list goes on. If you put the time and effort into this job, you will do much better than someone who just turns on their cam and expects guys to drop hundreds of dollars on them.
-If you aren't feeling motivated to get on cam, just get ready anyways. Most of us find that by the time we're all sexified, we are motivated enough to get on cam. Another easy motivator is money, obviously - if you aren't online, guys cannot spend their money on you!
-Having a set schedule is very helpful for your fans; if you are unable to keep a routine schedule, you should definitely have a Twitter account where you tweet when you're going online. Regular customers need to know when they can spend money on you!
-Set up a Google Alert - - for your cam name(s) to see what search results featuring your name appear in Google.
Wishlists
-To summarize the guidelines about using Amazon Wishlists - if you don't want your address displayed, don't put anything from third party distributors (which means don't use that fancy Universal Wish List button) and you should look into getting a p.o. box. If you have more questions, search "amazon wishlist" on this forum.
StripperWeb
-PleasePleasePlease use the Search function on this site. We talk about just about everything, so if you have a question, five people have probably already asked it. Put aside a few hours to go through the Other Work section; there's really great information here, and if you've put some time into doing your own research before asking the more experienced girls, it'll do wonders for how much help you get.
-Read up / research a few different fetishes, so that you know what to expect customers to ask of you. You should also set your boundaries on these fetishes ahead of time.

Hello Everyone...
I'm actually starting with Universal Talk (as a cam model) and I wonder if any of you have had this problem... I have 2 banks...one EXTREMELY secure that I will not use and then I have Chase.:(>:(
Well according to UT..."We do not do direct deposit, we do INTERNATIONAL Wire Transfers" and they ask just for the account number and routing number...funny thing is here in America most banks ask for a swift code.
I emailed UT 2 days ago about this and haven't received a response...guess they don't feel like answering. I see that Pay Pal is a nightmare and they won't deposit to that anyway...
So I ask what is a girl to do? This is quite irritating. Can any of you shed some light on this? Maybe some banks like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc that don't require swift codes, I really hate Chase bANK
But this is the time of terrorism so any bank will probably have an issue with international transfers no?
Do any of you have a list of Banks that don't give a problem, or is it UT that's the problem I wonder...:-\

SuperPookie-I am in the same boat!!I have signed up for NiteFlirt and have considered Streamate. I am soooo nervous. I was thinking of trying to do non nude/non masturbation and see if it works out. Good luck!
Kimber Knight

Don't be nervous!!!! HONESTLY! The way I approached it was like this:
HE CAN SEE ME...but he can't TOUCH ME! I enjoy masturbation & toys. So, when I did MY 1st SHOW (last week!)... I was in a cute bra & panties, music in the background... my snacks, water, lube and toys within arms reach. If someone came in to chat (I have a mic, so I just talk and they chat back). I just carry on a normal conversation. Ask if they are East Coast vs West Coast. Did the just come home from work. I like to play "guessing games" with them. Ask them to guess if my muff is the same color as my hair (lol), or if they think I'm trimmed or not (lol).
I ask about the work that they do -- why they do what they do... etc.
After about 15 mins... if someone wants a "peek"... they must take me PRVT FIRST.
If they want MORE (...and they usually do...)... they take me EXCLUSIVE.
By then... I have been "on CAM" about 20 mins, have talked and got to know a few of the guys, etc. I have relaxed more... and when it comes to "THE SHOW"... I just lie back, and enjoy making MYSELF feel good. I don't even *think* about the man watching me. I am alone in my bedroom... no one can hurt me.
I could NEVER do this with a guy I pick up at a bar (not that type)... but I guess I can do CAMMING because there's a subtle "disconnect".
I'm not sure I'm making any sense. And I hope I didn't offend anyone here.
I hope this helps....

Kimber Knight- Thanks for your info. It definitely helps me work up the courage. Funny thing, a few years ago I lived in Australia and worked at a massage parlour!! It was hand jobs ONLY but you are nude and the men can touch you from the waist up. And there were spas packages so you could be in the spa, nude, and sit on the guys lap, talking, massaging, drinking horrendous cheap beer and champagne. And yet, I am still chicken to do cam. Go figure.
I will make my to the cam soon. Thanks again. It's nice to have the support of other women and not be judged.

If you do cam and type your stage name into a search engine your pics might come up. I've signed up for cam but I haven't started yet. I went to Streamate and searched profiles to get an idea of what to do with my profile page. I have read that your cam sessions are recorded by the companies. I picked random profiles from Streamate and typed the cam girl stage name into yahoo search and their pics showed up! And some of the pics were from cam sessions. It looked like they were in a private or exclusive booking and pics from that showed up. I'm pretty certain the pics weren't from free chat.

Guys will ask you for your real name. Make one up. Do not give out your real name ever ever ever. Half of my guys think my real name is Katrina. It's not.
As a camgirl, check Google Alerts for your real name always. Someone might have recognized you on cam and posted your real name on a forum or something. You need to know if your real name is written anywhere online with pics or your stage name or anything like that - it's absolutely a security risk and you'll need to get it removed, so you need to know as soon as it comes up in Google.
