I was high maintenance before i started dancing, got even better at it over the years i was dancing, and now i'm retired i'm still high maintenance. It's personal pride.
But even before i retired three years ago i noticed standards falling - i totally agree that once upon a time being a stripper was about being a fantasy girl - the unobtainable standard of girl that average Joe could spend £20 to be with for 3 minutes to experience the fantasy he knows he could never have in reality. Now he pays £20 for what? Some skinny ratty haired crackwhore looking b*tch in the hope that he'll get his dick sucked. Sigh. Where are the standards???
Now it seems teeth arent even required! :O

I keep up my looks for myself, because I'm a hot vain bitch. ;D
My club is somewhat picky when they hire girls, but if you've been working for a while, the standards drop. We have some chunky girls with bad hair, bad costumes, bad everything... they've just been around long enough that management doesn't want to get rid of them.
On the bright side, they make the rest of us look like goddesses.

I have a pretty intense maintenance routine. Honestly though, I do most of it for work. My general skincare routine has ALWAYS been important for me - I'm a VERY pale girl, and it's difficult to keep pale skin looking presentable. Can't cover the little imperfections with a tan.
My nails, my hair and the excessive amounts of makeup are all work. If I had it my way, I'd probably get my nails done still - but much shorter. I wouldn't shell out all the money I do for blonde and extensions, I don't think. Who knows, maybe I'm more attached to it then I think I am, but sometimes I kinda miss being the slightly-too-skinny cute geek. It's a lot of work to pack on some muscle and some curve and the blonde and sheesh.

Does anyone whiten their teeth? I get complimented on my smil so much I felt is necessary since I doubled my cofee intake and somehow ended up smoking more too. Besides that I have used fake hair since about 15 and I learned all my makeup tricks from drag queens. I feel like the model stripper lmao oh also I use sugar scrums on my skin when I take a shower/bath to keep super silky skin I get complimented on that too.

I think after my boobs, my smile is the thing I get complimented on the most. Which I would expect after years and years of braces and dentist appts.
I keep myself up mostly for me and my hubby. I go above and beyond due to my job though, such as keeping my nails painted and pedicured. Otherwise, I might just keep my nails presentable but not polished. That's about the only difference.

I wouldn't say I'm high maintance, but I don't like leaving the house without a little brush of the hair, teeth brushed and actual clothes.
There will be times I'll throw on a hat and lipgloss and jeans and head to Wal Mart, but you would neverrr catch me there in damn Tweety bird jammies and fuzzy slippers. (Seems to be the norm around here. lol)
Especially being pregnant (and not feeling sexy), I do spend extra time on my hair and make up when leaving. I admit, I go through the whole process of putting in my extensions, sometimes even fake eyelashes....just to go run errands.
Even when I'm not pregnant though, I make sure I look like a "normal" person when out and about. Hair done, makeup done. I really don't know how anyone can not brush their teeth...that shit is nasty to me. Even my 3 year old son knows (and WANTS) to brush his teeth. :)
Even going through the (now difficult) process of "mowing my lawn"...I make sure that shit gets done. Just because I feel gross otherwise..lol
but yeah, it's definitely important to me that I feel good about myself on a daily basis. :)

yeah when I worked in missouri a full set of teeth was a novelty,:D
HA! Seriously. Some of the girls here are nasty. Fat rolls, horrible teeth, one girl had visible track marks....
The kicker is that skank made more money than the rest of us. Low standards these days :-[

Wow..I'm really simple compared with everyone..
I do massive pole tricks, so due to that I am in amazing shape...but I also eat really healthy food. I don't ever wear makeup outside of work, but on the flipside I don't even hesitate when it comes to buying expensive face cream. Usually I'll just put a little bit of gel in my hair, out on some cute pants/shorts and a shirt and go.
At work I wear eyeliner, sometimes some fake eyelashes if I want to feel like I want to go overboard..and some lipgloss.

I know it doesn't matter what you look like to make money, but looking good makes me feel good and I make more money. if I'm having a bad hair day I can't just brush it off, I feel like shit and seriously might as well go home. I spend the whole night checking the mirror.

I keep promising myself to take more pride in my appearance. To keep up to date with my laundry so I don't end up wearing scratty mis-matched outfits. To make an effort when I stay over at my bf's (I get too comfortable too easily with guys). To put my contacts in to go to the shop, and shower as soon as I get up.
It never quite sticks though. I'll nip to the shop in sweatpants, glasses and a big hoodie. I'll run out of RL underwear and go to work commando. I'll forget to take a hairbrush when I stay over....
I just don't give enough of a shit.

^I'd say MOST of the girls that've worked there long enough have at least learned a few tricks... just that a lot of them don't DO them because that's not how they make money.
At my home club... a couple of the girls who've been there forever used to compete/win pole competitions... and I worked with them for years without knowing because they don't do any of that stuff anymore.
That's kinda of sad to have that talent and not use it. I always pull out some tricks on stage. But I mainly do it for me. And if nobody wants to tip me for it, at least my regs will.
(That was off subject) But I keep myself looking nice for me and that fact that in my other career is in film/television. Not an actress, but even behind the camera, your are judged if your a female.

don't forget teeth!!!!!!^^^^^^^^^^^^
Your'e so right!! My teeth weren't bad, but last summer, I had my old veneers (motorcycle accident in high school, four of my front teeth broken to the nerve), replaced and whitened. I was surprised I didn't need braces, but I got a mouth guard made especially for me. I had a slight over bite before. Now it's gone! And my lipstick doesn't rub off on my front teeth any more. Yay!
Since you can't whiten veneers, I drink coffee and tea through a straw and any dark color fruits, i chew w/ my back teeth.
I am so taking care of them and I don't care if I look like a geek while sipping my coffee:D

I guess I do it about 75% for other people. I have a bit of a devil may care attitude and can have a perfectly great day doing all my errands/activities with snarled up hair and stained sweatpants. I will not really ever feel bad about being perceived as a slob....HOWEVER when it's work time, interview time, school, date mode, or a social gathering: I go all out! But it's just because I'm so shy/insecure that I know having a good foot put forward will help me stay confident.
SOmetimes I will get all ready (shower, shave, lotion, blow-dry and style hair, makeup, nails, outfit) as a mistake and feel like I've stolen my sexy self away from where I was supposed to be. Not to sound weird but I mean like, if I thought I was going to work or out to a club or even to a daytime interview but ended up staying in or doing my own thing that day: I feel like: Wow! What a pleasure to be such in the company of such a well-put-together lady!
I guess that sounds like MPD but I'm being serious, it doesn't come naturally to ME to want to be this coiffed good-looking person, I'm fine with looking shitty, lol, but I do the whole getting-ready thing to get some perceived reaction or impression from people of both genders, and all ages, during day or nighttime IF their opinions are going to matter to me.
I'm in the process of trying to change this and really trying to make myself look decent to go to the dog park, get a bagel etc. Like it affects my thinking so much that to actually move beyond my station in life as a stained-sweatpants-tangled-hair person I have to stop letting myself BE that person! I have a few nice blouses, black pants, and some non-sparkely eyeshadow I bought specifically for this purpose, to train myself to look good for myself and not just in the club/for employers.

Investing in your look = more $$$$$$$$$
You have to feel good about yourself and be confident, plus men appreciate it as well.
But yes I do not understand strippers who don't eat right, work out, get there hair done, tan, makeup......just do not and will never get it!

i have little to no personality so in order to make money i HAVE to look good.
its also nice to have something cute to look at in the mirror. that said my prep isnt as much as a lot of girls. i only curl my hair on busy nights and on super slow shifts i wont even bother to put on makeup (im one of those hippie organic eating chemically phobic girls so i try to not put too many products on my skin or hair
, i dont own a blowdryer or hairspray or gel). but im so vain that i think i can pull it off. if i didnt think so, i would probably always wear a ton of makeup and always do my hair. im also lucky enough to have straight hair so i feel like i can go into work with my hair unbrushed and still look good. i also cant be bothered to do my nails. i used to paint them sometimes when i was in my teens and the fumes of the polish and remover are gross and they always turned my nails yellow. gross. i have naturally long nails though so my nails still look pretty nice and i get a lot of compliments on them by the few people who actually look at them....because honestly...who the hell looks at hands anyway? i also never use anything on my skin. i dont use lotion, no scrubs, no exfoliates, no treatments, yet still get complimented on how soft my skin is. it ISNT soft! im seriously in shock when i feel other strippers skin, theyre alll soooo soft...yet guys for some reason think im soft too...i honestly think it doesnt take that much to impress guys, which is another reason i dont go super overboard. if youre naturally pretty you really dont need to be high maintenance to make money. i mean i remember working at scores in nyc for a few days with my standard hair and makeup and then a few days with the makeup artist and stylist making me look like a playboy playmate. while i looked way prettier all styled up, i saw NO DIFFERENCE in my money. and this was in manhatten...youd think these guys would be super shallow and react to me better when i was all styled up.
and i dont get why people are getting so pissed at ugly strippers being hired. the only bad that can come from this is if theyre extras girls or theres so many of them that guys stop going to that club. otherwise they just make me look hotter in comparison- which translates to more money. i welcome all ugly girls, so long as they're not giving blowjobs in the vip.
now as for the real world, i dont really wear makeup or style my hair much unless its a special occasion but i will always be well dressed. i dont get people who walk around wearing ugly clothing. whats the fun in being seen out in public if youre wearing some nasty khaki pants and *shivers* reeboks. seriously even when i go for comfort i still make sure the outfit i have on is cute.
and getting fat doesnt mean you need to start shopping at walmart! im sure la perla makes plus size stuff!
i dont work out though. i think its a waste of time unless youre getting something done in the process.i only run if im running somewhere or from someone. i like a lot of active stuff though like swimming, boogie boarding, gymnastics, etc...but i do that stuff for fun, not to stay fit.

Good question - I do it for my own personal vanity AND for work. The better I look the more money I make, I notice. On days where I know I look like shit cuz I'm hungover, got little sleep, etc, I tend to make less, have less of a positive reaction from men, but that is typical. Days where I look my best I make more money and hustle less. And I'm just not the type of girl who could let myself go even if I wasn't dancing. Another factor is that looking good --> makes me feel good --> confidence --> sexy!

I do it for me. I can't go into public with bushy eyebrows and manky, unbrushed teeth, no deodorant, waxy ears, and super obscenely hairy legs!

Knowing that I look my best gives me a warm, positive, self-confident attitude; people respond in kind.

I keep up my looks for my own benefit. It gives me confidence and taking pride in my appearance makes me feel happy (and my good looks definitely don't hurt at work either ;)).
Looking good is a part of my everyday routine, it's like part of my lifestyle. Flawless makeup and hair. Cute clothes. Regularly hitting the gym and eating right. But then there are always those days where I feel like wearing my hair in a ponytail with no makeup while wearing yoga pants and a tank top, I indulge in those days too! I feel the sexiest and most confident on the inside, when I look put-together on the outside.
Same here..me too. Have the same perspective as you :)
I look good for myself. It gives me confidence and it's my lifestyle.
Same here.
I wouldn't be comfortable testing out the "just rolled out of bed look and let me grow a small belly by eating all sorts of shit". Na, I couldn't do it. Plus I like to earn money easy. I've always been high maintnance...stripper or not.
Props to those who don't give a shit I guess, lol.
BTW, this whole thread LOL.
I agree with you also :)
I always watch what I eat, maintain my slim body and work hard at keeping fit, and it's true..money comes easier when you make the effort to work hard looking representable. It also comes in handy when you are doing free styling in between dancing.
LOL @ the "grow a small belly & eat all sorts of shit"
Too many people do that nowadays!

I'm pretty low maintenance - highlights and trim every 6 weeks, shave and moisturise, flawless makeup, and I got a fake tooth cause I didn't like my old one. I try to eat right, exercise and get enough sleep.
But that's all for my own benefit, and I wouldn't do more just for work. I can't be bothered with fake nails, lashes or hair. I gave up tanning too, but thats both to stand out in a sea of bronze, and to take better care of my skin.

Oh wow, I feel a bit insecure now haha.
I'm starting next week..
I haven't really had the finances to really do all the things I'd like to do. This is part of the reason why I want to do stripping, so I have a chance to spoil myself.
I think I look great though, but it's hard work doing it all on a budget. There are things I consider a must though:
Sunscreen
Good foundation
Good night cream
Red lipstick
Eyebrow pencil
Hairspray
Hot baths
Hair removal cream
Hopefully, I'll make a decent amount of money and will be able to spoil myself. I wouldn't mind making regular visits to a dermatologist, having my teeth-whitened...you know ;)

I'm like you with the fair skin. I know I could cover up my skin imperfections if I spray tanned, but I love my fair skin. It's different.
Anyways, I'm extremely high maintinence, which my SO loves, which is amazing. I couldn't be with a guy who doesn't appreciate all the time/money/effort I put into my appearance. I do it partially for my SO, but mostly for me. Even if I wasn't with my SO, I wouldn't change my routine. I feel much happier leaving the house, feeling hot/gorgeous, rather than feeling like I could have put more effort in. I absolutely love pampering myself; hair, nails, makeup, the whole shibang. I notice I'm friendlier to people and generally in a better mood when my apperance is up to par. Basically, the better I look, the friendlier I am.

^I whiten my teeth. I've used Crest 3D whitestrips in the past but had to stop after about 4 days because of the tooth sensitivity. I used Sensodyne toothpaste after that so everything feels fine again.
Now I swear by the Listerine Whitening mouthwash!!! It's amazing. It does not cause ANY tooth sensitivity for me even though I use it morning and night (as recommended). I have seen fabulous results in such a short amount of time and the results are supposed to last as long as the strips. I swear its like heaven sent... ;D
OMG, thank you!! I so was looking for this! I have very sensitive teeth, & couldn't use even the basic strips, I need very much to do some whitening. I already have the sensodyne paste, & I am going to get the Listerine wash.
I am very up on dental care, I need a check up, but I do brush/floss/use those plastic pics more than once a day.
**Back to the topic, I have been letting things go due to health & other issues, (although I keep up makeup, etc) but I am going to get back to the hair stylist.

On a day to day basis I dont put in much effort ie. straight hair, dress casual, no makeup, but because of work I always have decent hair colour, spray tan, nails, lashes, etc. But when I go out... I dress to the nines. I dont care what it cost or what I have to do but I make sure everything is perfect. Most my friends are the same so I do it basically so I dont look like a hobo next to them. Unless Im going to the gay club.. then I dress like a hobo with nice makeup so I can wear flats and dance like a spastic.

I remember how long your hair was just a little over a year ago. You've offically out-grown me! Haha! My hair grows so slowly. I liked the short hair on you, but I bet the longer hair is sassy.
It totally does take getting used to! I'm temped to keep it in a ponytail all the time but I know that's probably not good for it. I'm thinking of getting a trim soon and some bangs, but IDK....

NEED SUPPORT
Lately my appetite is high and I feel like eating & snacking...:(
Dieting makes me a bit weak and I hate that but I have to do it on order to get the body I want and maintain it. It's a full time work.
I enjoy looking good and making easy money. I just need support and always remember the good times I have..
Sometimes I look at my friend who retired from dancing and she gained 100 lbs, eats like a horse daily, seldom wear make up, wears only sweats and oversized clothing..she always say that she is enjoying life.
I also work a VANILLA JOB and the girls at office were watching me like a hawk because I sort of become like a role model for them and they always ask me diet tips and questions regarding diet and health, also fashion and style.
If I gain like 2-3 lbs, they immediately notice. Sometimes I feel under the spotlight/pressure to look perfect and stay pretty because that's expected from me.
I can imagine the pressure they put on actresses in Hollywood, must be crazy.
Dancing clients, sugar daddies they all expect me to LOOK GOOD, IMMACULATE.
Colleagues at my vanilla work expect me to look pretty and be the girl in office they look up to, who can give them tips/guidance for diet and fashion.
But sometimes..you have your moods and you just want to get a break LOL and eat what you want but.....I have made choices, I want easy money.
So yeah, I just need a pat in the back and support telling me to keep doing what I am doing..and I believe..many girls are in the same boat as me here.

^I feel you girl. When there are times I wanna say "FUCK IT!" and reach for the cookies, I think of the cheesiest little slogans about being healthy/thin that keep me from eating things I know I shouldn't, and slacking on the exercise. Stuff like:
-The cookie won't taste as good as healthy feels
-The high I get from easy money is better than the high from a Mocha Iced Cappichino
-Feeling physically able to accomplish difficult tasks is worth the 60 minutes of HARD TRAINING a day
-Remembering that looking into the mirror and liking what you see will feel better than any bag of chips
-My body is an investment, and the most precious thing I own. If I look after it, it will look after me.
The last one is especially true for anyone whose income correlates directly to their physical appearance. Financially, my body will look after me if I look after it. Hope that makes sense.
The pressure is a lot sometimes, but I think we're better off for it. Stripping and Camming are hard jobs, and exercise really helps us burn off steam and releve tension. Eating well and eating enough help keep us alert, and more mentally able to cope with the demands of our occupations.
It's all worth it on those $1000 nights.

I doll myself up for work... I don't dye my hair but I do wear extensions, I hot roll/curl it. I put on loads of make up: concealer, powder, lots of eyeshadow, mascara, fake lashes, liquid liner, bronzer, lip stain, lip gloss.
During the week when I don't work, I shower every day, I brush my teeth 4 or 5 times a day and floss once, usually don't wear make up or do my hair (just put it in a pony tail). I get acrylics done because of work, I prefer just a mani but my natural nails suck, always get pedis.
Day to day I look busted. Oh well. I think as my baby gets older I'll have more time for me again and be able to look fabulous again everyday, not just for work.
So yeah, the make up and hair is all for work, but I'd like to do some for me someday soon, too. But, just because I don't wear make up or do my hair doesn't mean I'm not clean! 'Cause I am. I'm squeaky clean :D
Oh, I don't fake tan, I have tan lines and don't care. I'm in the process of having my teeth fixed but that is for me, not work. I am getting my nose done in December, but again, for me, not work. Today is one of those days when I am sure I want a boob job. These come and go so.... yeah.
Oh, I used to have really bad acne. So I wash my face at least twice a day. I live in Miami so it is really humid, if I break a sweat I wash my face or use face wipes and re-apply sunblock (Oil of Olay's sunscreen for sensitive skin is the BEST), I take birth control to help keep the acne in check, and I put on Retin-A before going to bed. Sometimes it causes peeling but it goes away with my sunblock/moisturizer.

Anyway, for lol, try the blotting papers, if you haven't already, they work great!

^^^^ I know, right?!
I've always thought it odd that girls could have belly fat, and that it would indeed be bigger than their boobs. It's just a foreign concept to me since I've always naturally had a flat stomach, and worked my abs on top of that.
Like, if I can't see definition in my abs, I FEEL unhealthy.

i thought looking good was part of our job description
i mean cmon you have to be to some degree, hot and fit...
they keep hiring fat girls with bellies bigger than their tits. im so sick of seeing fat girls on the stage. theyre not even like 'curvy', we have a bunch of fat bitching bitches at the top club in the area.
i project more confidence and sex-appeal when im well looked after
srsly i dont wanna see more flab! theres no market for that shit
Careful, youre gonn have the FPA on your ass and they're gonna sit on you!:D
Dont you know they're not fat, they're "curvy" or "voluptuous" like Marilyn Monroe::)
What do they do for the fatties charge per llb for lapdances or offer group rates since there is more than enough to go around? I think they should go with the per llb idea!

i feel u 4ever and desvus, i have collarbone lenght hair too!
i just cant feel attractive without extensions.
i bought this cool thing called rockstar dust and work it through my layers and it makes it big and raggity with big body. if youre into the hobo look. having it straight looks shit on me
we already have a 'fat club' in our area that belongs to the same company but it seems fatties are now spilling over to the top club or what used to be the top club before the fatties weighed it down

I love this thread..:) always keep me motivated reading this one! I have kept my diet strong this one month and I am looking my best. I was out with my SD and he was practically BEAMING with pride because I was the best looking girl in the mall..lol he said that! With my mini skirt and long long legs..I was a killer.. Now he's M.I.A but my diet still goes on and I am determined to keep up my appearance and look my best! Thanks to the motivation from this thread :)

I keep myself looking good for myself. I refuse to let myself become a fat sloppy housewife. I shower daily, put lotion on every day, put make up on everyday, shave everyday... I just feel happier when I feel clean and fresh and pretty. I also tan weekly so I can keep my FL tan...since I am now living up north. Living up north has almost made me become MORE vain and MORE ocd about my looks....bc theres so many damn overweight hillbillys. Also, alot of people up here have bad teeth....and that has made me OCD about flossing, brushing, and I only drink bottled water (bc i SWEAR there is something in the water up here that makes people have bad teeth).
I try to eat healthy. Theres pizza places on every corner up here...and I refuse to eat that crap. I try to stay away from the cheesesteaks...i will only eat it like 2 times a year lol. I feel like this state is just so unhealthy, and like no one cares about how they look. =/ I want to live a long healthy life
I also want to stay looking good for my man. So many of his friends gfs let themselves go.. This is going to sound SO horrible and vain and snobby...BUT i like being known as the girl from south florida who actually GIVEs a shit about her looks. I like being the mom who wears heels to kids bday parties...and who always looks nice when she goes out, even to the grocery store.
