Just finished my 20k walk for the day. Felt like walking more or breaking into a run, but my friend had a sore leg and I don't gave running shoes yet. Feels good to be getting paid to exercise too (I get my walking done while handing out fliers for my club)

Ezekiel toast is great! Some suggestions..... have you ever tried turkey bacon? It's amazing, and much less fat and more protein than regular bacon.

Also, you can try instead of fries making your own kale chips (really easy) or carrot "fries" (http://www.food.com/recipe/oven-baked-carrot-fries-413832)

Are you kidding me? Americans add sugar/sucrose/high fructose corn syrup to EVERYTHING! But actually, I heard on the radio that the UK or Britain consumes the most sugar per year than anywhere in the World! I couldn't believe that anyone had America beat.....

Today I had a very small bowl of Fiona's gluten free raw granola (cinnamon almond) with Pure Silk coconut milk. For lunch, I had an egg, a piece of toast (I know, I know), and a meatball I made last night with some organic ketchup. I made them with 1 lb of buffalo, some cooked quinoa, chick peas, curry powder, chopped organic garlic, chopped organic onion, and chopped organic green apple. Sounds crazy, huh? Tastes kind of bland, so I threw on some organic ketchup. Not bad now! Buffalo is a great substitution for beef....

going to gym right now and then doing workout videos when I get home!

Last night I worked and it was my first time to not drink anything in almost a year at work! Cant wait again for tonight! I realized how much drinking at work puts me in a funk for the next day!

Yay!
Ready to join in now.

I've already lost 17lbs since Sunday (after giving birth to my second son) and only 5lbs until I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight.
Would like to tone up, and possibly lose a total of 10lbs so I'd be 130. :)

Breastfeeding is helping me in burning calories: about 500 calories a day it burns.

Working out is a little hard for me with a 3.5 year old and a newborn, but I think my obsessive cleaning and playing with my kids counts as working out. :P

Sooo...today I've ate:

Ceasar Salad
Activia Light Yogurt
Special K Fruit Crisp thingy.

For dinner I plan on making ribs, but I'm only going to have one helping and having it with steamed veggies and brown rice.

Hoping to be in (my idea of perfect) shape by August 1st. :)

Today I kinda screwed up.

Although, when I stepped on the scale I was at 138! :D
but relatives came over and brought donuts and cookies. :(
I usually don't buy this stuff, because I know I don't have much self control...sooo..today is my cheat day. :(

Did good yesterday.
Had a salad, oatmeal, cereal and a fiber bar.
Did a little jump roping for about 15 minutes and danced around with my oldest for about 30 minutes. :P

Will get back on track tomorrow. Still am pumping today, cleaned, vacuumed, swept, mopt...just my diet today sucks. Maybe I'll somehow burn the calories off. Thinking about walking to the park.

I'll see what the scale says tomorrow! Really happy so far with the weight I've lost in 6 days though. :)

I haven't eaten today but have had lots of water. I binged pretty bad last night so I am trying to eat as little as possible today and flush my system with lots of water. I also am working later tonight so will try to dance as much as possible while drinking a few sugar free red bulls.

Workout:

Food:
small banana
small spinach salad with feta, onion, sprouts, avocado, strawberries, and home made raspberry vinaigrette dressing.

I was looking at those, but he has to be a little older, so he can hold his head up.
Definitely wanna get back in shape before then. :D

Soo..for now, just walks to the park and dancing around the house and cleaning..lol

As long as I just don't sit on my ass all day. Which, I can't do. I have to be doing something...I hate sitting still. :P

06-29-2011, 06:28 PM
Oh! I'll join. I don't have a weight-loss goal, necessarily, but I want to lose inches!
My waist is currently at 25" and I want to lose at least 2" from there... and, well, as many inches as possible from my thighs, lol.

Does anyone know how often you need to workout to maintain muscle tone?
For me, personally... I have to keep working out the same amount as it took me to GAIN the muscle tone. Like... if it was an hour a day, 5 days a week... that's what I have to do to maintain whatever muscle tone I built.

I have not updated in awhile.
I have been sticking to my diet (with the exception of 2 chocolate chip granola bars-I crave chocolate sometimes around that time of the month)
I went for a 2 hour hike with the dog yesterday. It was a refreshing change of pace.

Got up at 8:30 to go running.
Ran 4.2k (I think, my gps wasn't working) in 25min
Got home on an exercise high so I went for a bike ride too.
Cycled 7.6k in 25min.
Not something to write home about usually, but for me that's pretty darn impressive :)

I've been on this squash/zucchini kick lately..... y'all should try it! you slice 1 or 2 organic yellow squash or zucchini (I do one of each), then heat a skillet to medium high, drizzle some grapeseed oil (works REALLY well for this) and saute the squash/zucchini with some crushed red pepper until each side is slightly browned. It's almost like pan fried squash/zucchini, but healthier.

^^Roasted squash is really good too, oil, salt & pepper then through them in the oven at 350 for 15 minutes. You can stuff them with all kinds of things. After roasting spoon out the insides then mix with whatever you have around the house the the spoon back & broil for 2 minutes to crisp...bam

Ok here's my day so far:

Breakfast: small portion of left over roast beef, half a squash

Workout: one mile on the treadmill, two circuits of the Spartacus workout, but I made some changes. Instead of the goblet squat, I do step ups with a 15 lb weight in each hand, instead of the push up with a plank twist, I do crunches with a 15 lb weight behind my head, and instead of the shoulder press at the end I do more crunches with the 15 lb weight. I also added in a couple exercises to the circuit. I don't know what it's called, but I use a barbell with 20-30 lbs on each side, and I do a squat, but as I go down, I extend one leg to the side, so all the weight is on the other leg. I do it slow and controlled, keeping my chest up and everything in a straight line. As I go down and come back up, and I can really feel it my ass and quadricep. I also did some random exercises, 20 reps on the leg extension machine, I think using 40 or 60 lbs, 20 decline crunches with 10 lbs, and 20 hanging knee raises on the captains chair. I also started messing around and doing power clean and press, I haven't even attempted one of those in years!

Just had my protein shake, I'm thinking about switching to Immunocal protein powder in place of the Jay Robb, it's the only undenatured bioactive protein powder, from what I can find, and I want maximum absorption of Glutathione.

J.D. what do you put in your protein shake?

J.D.
07-02-2011, 05:30 PM
Most of the time protein powder and filtered water. Sometimes I'll throw in some coconut milk or coconut water.

Dinner: Grilled chicken breast, a whole zucchini sauteed with crushed red pepper, several huge romaine lettuce leaves.

<----kitchen moron

I have a dumb question: what is crushed red pepper?? Is it in a can? Powder? Flakes?

Btw JD do you know how to make a healthy version of a Chinese food-style stir fry?

Expesive day today - just purchased an armband iPhone holder so I can run in just my shirts and sports bra (it's faaaaaaar too hot for anything else) and a big tub of protein shake. I want a heart rate monitor too, but I'm going to make myself earn that.

Had to pop on here and read through this before I started eating today, lol. Keep myself in line.

About to head out to the post office and back to mail a letter... about 1 mile roundtrip... which may be my only exercise for the day since the tendons in my feet are hurting from walking barefoot on the beach (two miles) yesterday... D:

Did the Spartacus workout yesterday with some power clean and press, so I'm actually sore today! Not working out today, an hour of cardio tomorrow probably, or more weights.

Threw together a somewhat decent meal..... Cut a head of cabbage into quarters, brought two inches of water to a boil in a big saucepan, added cabbage with some salt, pepper, and chopped garlic, covered and turned down heat to medium, until cabbage was soft and fell apart, about 15 minutes. Then, I threw it into a casserole dish with a sliced yellow squash, more garlic, salt, pepper, chopped tomato, and a pound of ground turkey breast. Baked at 375 for about 20 minutes or so, until turkey was cooked through.

When I really started lifting heavier weights and pushing myself, I notice the veins in my hands, feet, and forearms much more pronounced. Then, a few months ago, I noticed that one giant vein in my going from the side of my forearm up the middle of my bicep started popping out on my left side. Now, I've got that giant vertical vein popping out on both biceps, and I'm notice the veins in my hips going up my obliques are much more visible, though not popping out. Does this mean I am burning body fat, or just dehydrated (possibly from consuming high protein on a regular basis)? All in all, my arms, shoulders, abs, and sides of my thighs are MUCH more "rippling" and defined, a little bit smaller. It's like my body is becoming "high def" :)

unbeleavable
07-07-2011, 07:28 AM
Being vascular can happen from many things. Being lean is the start but after I take in carbs my veils seem to be more pronounced. I love the lines around the shoulder & arm area on a fit woman as well as the line that separates the thigh from the ham..hot one to have!

Out in one of the storage sheds, moving shit up into the attic (this shed is like... nice and finished off and carpeted on the lower half, with an attic... whatever... I'm about to make it my new workout room)...
HOLY SHIT... I am literally DRIPPPPPPPPING sweat. Like rivers are running down my face, arms, and legs.
This is possibly the hardest workout I think I'll ever do out here. Lmao

I ran four miles this morning, did some light weight exercises for about 20 minutes. Had some leftover paleo cabbage/squash/turkey breast casserole thing for breakfast..... Now I'm STARVING!!! About to have some chicken satay kabobs, just finished a huge salad (half a head of romaine chopped, a can of organic artichoke hearts, this AMAZING caesar dressing I found - http://organicvillefoods.com/products/dressings/non-dairy-caesar-organic-dressing/, and some crushed red pepper) I also bought today a smoked thai curry hummus, it's delicious!
