Um I seriously hope you aren't referencing my 20 calorie 4g sugar coconut milk creamer lol.......
no, I was referring to the very first post in this thread.
I'm not calling you out at all. In fact, I don't care what you do, what you eat or how that is working for you. I lost my weight and if you want to lose yours and what you're doing is working for you then keep on. There is no "personal insult" going on here. You're the one who started any 'hostility' between us which doesn't even exist on my end...

It does for me. I'm not stupid, I already know which foods and what types of portions will help me towards my goal and which ones will hinder me. When I hold myself accountable to food diary, especially a public food diary, I eat much better because I know I don't want to write down "Carls Jr. bacon cheeseburger, milkshake, and reese's pieces."
And everyone has a different comfort level for dieting and I've already figured out what works for me, so I don't need help. I'm sure most of the things posted in this thread are wonderful but they definitely won't help me.
My point isn't for people like you who have their shit under control, though. It's for people who don't seem to get what is and isn't keeping their weight fluctuating at levels that they're unhappy with. Which is something that I don't think a lot of people are understanding while reading the posts I have made in the thread. Like, if you think that you are eating well and you actually aren't then isn't it worth it for someone to say "you really aren't"?
I'm specifically NOT though, because even mentioning that people don't eat as well as they think they are is getting me as much grief as it is...

Moving on:
I had a dream about ginger ale, and woke up with a very sore throat. Coincidence? Hmmm....
Been running 3-5K's all week, and yesterday was my first day off in 5 days straight. I'm actually more sore now today than yesterday. What gives with that?

it's always the second day after working out that hurts the most. It's unfortunate because I will do a hardcore workout and be like. YAY I'M FINE! Second day is when the hurt hits.

^Yeah that's true. I notice it peaks at about 36-48 hours for me, but it's worse than I expected. I feel like my arms are going to fall off. May be exacerbated by a summer cold I do believe I woke up with. I feel as though I was hit by a truck.
Off to the drug store for me!

Threw together a somewhat decent meal..... Cut a head of cabbage into quarters, brought two inches of water to a boil in a big saucepan, added cabbage with some salt, pepper, and chopped garlic, covered and turned down heat to medium, until cabbage was soft and fell apart, about 15 minutes. Then, I threw it into a casserole dish with a sliced yellow squash, more garlic, salt, pepper, chopped tomato, and a pound of ground turkey breast. Baked at 375 for about 20 minutes or so, until turkey was cooked through.
I'm making this today, will probably use beef though. I hope it comes out okay I'm so bad in the kitchen! :-X

have you tried cutting the dressing and instead making a mixture of herbs, seasoning and extra virgin olive oil instead?
No I havent, dont buy a lot of fresh herbs because it seems like I never use it all before its bad and Im poor lol. That is a good idea though. I bet you have an arsenal of little recipes and tricks since eliminating glucose
luscious sadie
07-25-2011, 10:43 AM
I wouldn't bother buying fresh, if I were you. You might be able to find a store that sells dried herbs and seasoning in bulk (Bulk Barn, for example and a lot of health food stores) where you can get a tiny bit of a whole bunch for pennies. If they sit in the EVOO they will soften up.
Alternatively, you can marinate your chicken in it before and use that as your cooking oil. When you are finished cooking the chicken remove it and cut it up, let the oil that you cooked it in and the chicken chunks cool down, add the chicken and the other ingredients for your wrap to it, toss the pan a few times so everything gets a nice flavourful covering and then put it in the wrap. Not only will everything be perfectly mixed, it will all have a nice coating of juices.
I hope you guys aren't talking about me as one of the annoying people posting their meals!

You made me hungry. Hungry enough to make my own meatloaf......it's really good!!!!!!!!! (LOL @ my 'matload' typo)
I want to buy a whole bunch of different animal organs, I'm thinking calf liver, chicken livers, beef heart, pork heart, cow tongue, lamb kidneys, chicken and turkey hearts, and cook them rare so they're extra bloody, lighting some incense and candles and eating them while playing the Ouija board..... what do you guys think?
Call me crazy, but after I ate that bloody beef heart, the next day I felt more powerful and alive.....

Doea anybody have some good suggestions for suppressing evil hunger (the kind that makes you eat really bad stuff that you've put on the "do not eat ever again" list)? I work out with a trainer 3x a week and would be in excellent shape, except that evil hunger gets in the way and forces me to eat the bad stuff. I'm about 15 pounds overweight and I know I could lose it if I could suppress my evil hunger.

^Evil hunger responds best to self dicipline. Also, evil hunger only tends to rare its head when you refuse yourself things you love. Don't tell yourself you "can't" have any one food again. If I thought I'd never eat a chicken nugget again I'd go beserk. Just tell evil hunger that it has to wait to have certain foods, and it can have what it craves on cheat-day/special occasion/hoildays/whatever.
I find what helped me is telling myself that I can have anything I want....as long as I cook it myself and plan for it ahead of time. So if you're really DYING for a cheese-burger, then plan to make yourself a cheeseburger, homemade on Friday night. Look up a yummy recipie and buy all the ingredients, and have fun cooking it. Keep in mind portion control (you don't need 2 8oz burgers), and top it with things that are good for you (Avocado, tomato, onions, mustard instead of mayo, etc) and make yourself some homemade potato wedges and a salad. The whole experience of shopping, cooking and enjoying the food in your own home is so much more pleasing than stopping at a McDonalds drive through on a whim.
Do you find that you're eating bad stuff because you're just randomly feeling the need to buy snack food? Or are you actually hungry throughout the day? If I'm getting too hungry my will power diminishes and I'm more likely to buy chips or whatever. Have you tried keeping meal replacement bars around? Or small snacks?

^^^That is why I turned to coffee Jacko. If you don't drink it already, the effects are pretty powerful when you start off. It's a good appetite suppressant, when I drink it I don't find myself getting the munchies.

This. I can easily avoid all the shit I love to eat if I just... pick something else instead. The second I say I can't have X I NEED IT. I need to buy it and eat it RIGHT NOW.
So instead of telling yourself you CAN'T eat something... just... don't eat it. If that makes sense?

Excellent advice. I was really "good" yesterday. Then this morning, I missed breakfast because I was running late and I HAD to have Ruffle chips with ranch dressing and a chocolate bar.

Sorry to sound like a bitch, but NO you didn't have to have them....
When you REALLY want to lose those 15 lbs and cut this crap out of your diet (seriously, eating Ruffle chips, you might as well go pull a weed out of your backyard and eat that, it would be better for you) you will put down the chips and chocolate and make a better decision. This excuse SUCKS!
If you REALLY wanted to lose this weight, you would have set your alarm a little earlier so that you would have sufficient time to wake up and eat a HEALTHY breakfast. Instead you are just playing the victim and being weak.
And P.S...... if you are not going to go all out in your diet efforts, you might as well not even bother. These junk foods are DRUGS! You really need to realize that a lot of what you are eating is producing an addictive chemical reaction in your body, spiking insulin, triggering massive amounts of dopamine, you are eating yourself into a junk food induced high. Much like smoking, the only way to quit is cold turkey. I know you can have a slip up every now and then, however your "running late and missing breakfast" is disgusting, it makes you sound like a whiny, weak crybaby. If you had said your dog died and you were depressed, I might pity you....
It's time to man up and do this! Unless you want to end up dead early because of high blood pressure and type II diabetes.

I've had coffee, an Ensure shake and left over meatloaf today.
I had an imitation crab meat and two organic egg omelette for breakfast, leftover plain baked tilapia and chicken livers for lunch as well as a small bowl of gluten free organic granola with a splash of unsweetened coconut milk. Now for dinner......

Omg that fake krab stuff grosses me out. I used to like it too, not sure what happened. I think once I heard it was skate meat I got freaked out(even though I later learned that it is NOT skate meat).
LOVE your new avatar!
My dinner tonight is a three organic egg omelette with a chopped tomato, handful of organic black beans, salt and pepper.
IMO Jack, you will have to blindly trust what some of us are saying, then when you start to see results, making the dietary changes becomes MUCH easier.
For example, cut out all the crap, bust your ass in the gym, suck it up and deprive yourself for a while, then when you see your body change, that's what gets the ball rolling, and you no longer even want these foods!

I didn't mean it as an excuse... More of like withdrawal symptoms... Good one day (maybe 2 or 3) - the feeling that "I can do this!" and the next day an overwhelming craving for some nasty crap. I was asking whether there is anything that can help suppress this urge - or must I just toughen up?

I've got a little trainer lady who busts my ass. I wouldn't have the discipline to work so hard on my own, but she pushes me until I want to cry like a girl. (No offense.)

This thread makes me happy :)
I signed up for unlimited monthly pole classes at a studio and bought a pole for my house. Seems like a good idea cause not having customers to see bloopers and focusing on fitness instead of money/tips makes it a pure workout.
I started doing figure skating again and joined a precision skating team, supplementing with core fusion classes and ballet for balance and the dancer physique. Getting into more dancing classes like Zumba and belly dancing so it's more fun and interesting, I hate boring workouts.
Also thinking of getting a treadmill desk for when I'm home watching movies or using the internet so I get that sedentary stuff done while steadily burning moderate calories.
I also like listening to books on tape or great playlists while taking long walks. I have no shame going to the gym and doing 1 hour of "real" cardio then doing 2 more hours just walking or cycling with a book.
Food-wise I'm going to cut alcohol wayyy down, though I have to socially drink a tiny bit for work. At least I'm not working for drink commissions now...
Keeping quick and easy low cal food around the house so even when I'm too lazy to cook, I have something decent like guilt free trader joe's entrees.
Looking to lose 10-15 pounds, but more importantly, two inches around my waist and some diameter around my arm, firm up a bit overall. Making fun workouts a part of my schedule and integrating light exercise like long walks and long sustainable treadmill sessions where I can read/e-mail simultaneously to supplement more intense bouts.

Preferably with none, since sugar just leads to more sugar cravings. Is it that you CAN'T drink coffee without sugar or that you WON'T? }:D
If you're drinking it purely for the caffeine effects trust me, you will still get those effects without all the fixins. But if you are drinking your coffee just because you like the taste then you're gonna have to think of it like any other unhealthy treat that you should stop eating. :P

Yeah... I'm typically known for having much better than average willpower... but if I sit down and say "Okay, no more junk food"... I will immediately go and eat junk food. Every. Time.
I get all "But I haven't eaten any junk food in 30 minutes and I haven't lost weight! This must not be working! Where are those damn chips!" LOL
