Im on board now at least for the next week and a half. I go back to Canada then and I wanna gorge myself on all my favourite foods so until then Im gonna be mega healthy in hopes to lose a little before the eating begins. 5lbs would be ideal but Ill take what I can get. As of today Ill only be drinking water (with the exception of sat - mates bday) and cut out as much sugar as possible.

http://www.eatcleandiet.com/food_and_recipes/clean_recipe/oatmeal_pancakes.aspx
that's the recipe I started with but quickly simplified it.
I buy the egg white only cartons from the grocery store and quick oats, vanilla extract and cinnamon. I put two cups of oatmeal into a big bowl, add enough egg whites to moisten all of the oatmeal (not too much... there shouldn't be any liquid left unabsorbed). Then I add some cinnamon and vanilla, throw it in a frying pan for a few minutes and then put it in the oven at 400F for about five minutes. I make it really thin since I like it crispy so I have a big pan. I like it baked more than fried. It makes just one which also saves me time.
while it is in the oven I heat up some frozen raspberries and mash them up until they are a liquid, add some cinnamon and vanilla. By the time that I'm done that the pancake is done.
super easy. Super good for you. Super delicious.

Hiked six miles today.
Jerked off on a hookers face (since I was already in 'badass' mode).
Feasted on a piece of salmon.
It was delicious.

I'm trying to figure out how many calories/fat/protein was in the Spicy salmon sushi I had for dinner? There was about 4 ounces of raw Salmon total (yes, lots of salmon), maybe 1/4 of sushi rice, seaweed wrap, some fake crab, some cucumber and carrot and avacado. And spicy sauce (not the creamy stuff, the clear stuff). I tried looking it up online but I got a billion variations.
Might have to go back to making my own Sushi. Except I don't have any of the stuff for it anymore....I like knowing what's in my food.

there's a place between College and Dundas on Spadina called Tap Phong where you can get everything you need for SUPER CHEAP. It's on the west side of the Spadina and is two stores wide. Has a yellow sign. They have actually everything you would ever need EVER.

I train really hard for running races and a couple upcoming triathlons. I end up ravenous at at least one point during the day and usually grab something I shouldn't.
Today I had two small pink lady apples, a turkey sandwich from whole foods with a cup of unsweetened mate, a venti unsweetened green tea, 45 minute swim workout, a smoothie from a local smoothie place, 40 minutes lifting at the gym, an energy gel, ran 8 miles, an amazing soothie I made for myself (whey protein, berries, coconut milk, chia seeds, apple), a little bit of the homemade mac and cheese my housemate made with some refried beans from a can, went to work for 4 hours, came home and ate an egg with white rice made with coconut milk.
At work I was SO HUNGRY. I ate some stupid peanut bar from the machine!!!! I forgot to bring a snack with me!!!!!!! duh

Not at all. I get enough sleep and I only work 4-5 hours. I do work 5-6 shifts a week though. I am VERY used to this amount of exercise. My body cramps up and feels awful if I don't train.
I wanted to add that my goal is to not eat crap and cut down on coffee. I was clearly not prepared for the day yesterday grocerywise. I only ate a little, but the mac and cheese, even tho it was only a little, is not something I wanted to put in my body. I did not have any greens yesterday and forgot to bring a snack to work. I try to only eat something with gluten once a day or not all all. So, that was a fail. I didn't drink coffee at all:-)
I am very toned and my body fat is as low as it can be. In order to be prepared for what is going on in my life this Fall I need my training schedule to look something like this:
Run 5-6 days a week (45-55 miles, track workout, tempo)
Swim workout 3 days a week min. (2500 yards at least each day, speed and strength)
Cycling 3 days a week min (80-120 miles includes spin class to some degree)
Gym at least 2 days per week (focus on my running and swimming exercises)
I like to reward myself for a solid week of training. A cheap dress from forever 21 or something like that:-)

today has been an. off. day. However, my nutrition obsessed boyfriend has assured me that a few days /month where you "cheat" is good since it reboots your metabolism.
- four doughnut holes before falling asleep :x
- diner breakfast: two fried eggs, bacon, homefries, toast.
- sweet corn for snack
- Indian food for dinner: pakoras (fried), chana masala, chicken tikka masala, naan and rice
- grapes
it's not THAT BAD but a lot of fried food obviously isn't good. Also, last night I had some chips :(
potatoes aren't good for low glucose...

okay i really need to get back in the game and start working out regularly and eating right again.. i was doing SUCH a good job and then out of no where i just stopped and now i feel so shitty.
i think i'm going to go buy a little planner so i can get back to being organized and plan out my meals and workouts in advance. going to the gym in a little with a friend and then spin class tonight with my sister.
also, i need to buy some more gallons of water...those are the best things to have in the fridge!

Lunch today was croutonless chicken caesar with fat free ciardini's dressing at 40 cals for 2 tbsp, and raspberries/blueberries with some whipped cream for dessert, I bought $90 worth of low carb stuff the other day, but I'm not going to be obsessive about carb grams, just keeping the calorie count down and having high protein food

By the way, the Shiva Rea yoga workout DVD's are amazing, they will help with flexibility and they are hard enough to make you a teeny bit sore the next day, but not too easy like so many workout DVD's.

I've been doing pretty good although I did have a night where I went crazy at PF Chang's; I had two appetizers, an entree and then dessert, followed by 7 vodka redbulls between two clubs.....so yeah that night was a bit of a miss..... :-x
I start with my personal trainer/dietician tomorrow. He works with a lot of figure competitors, he asked if I plan on completing. I said 'No but I wanna look like I do!'

I told my trainer that I wouldn't mind training like I was going into a competition. He said that unfotunately, they're all full of drugs. He actually said "they're all dirty right now. You can't win if you're clean". And then I thought about stripping and how true that sometimes rings for stripping as well.

I will tell you your trainer is wrong depending on genetics & dedication. Are there many on something? YES for sure. I have been around many competitors, professional, very high level amateur & I myself have competed on the national level. The key at the level you are taking about is condition & that can be done without drugs if you have the right genetics. Goals are great even if you don't win & very healthy.

he didn't mean that everyone is on drugs in them. He meant that there are enough drugs that there isn't much point in me competing unless I want to work out for like, 15 hours a day. Add to that that I simply cannot get the required amount of protein necessary to add on muscle. My body just will not do it.

Hi, thought I'd join in on this as just reading so far has been really motivational, and I need motivating...!
So I am recently facing up to the fact that my diet needs to change, long-term and consistently...I am a fitness trainer and previously(up until around a year ago) had gone with the 50-50 school of thought with diet and training, with clients and personally.
I now fully understand just how crucial diet is. I believe 80-20 is about right.
I think if you are slim when you're younger and seem to get away with eating whatever you like as long as you train, it's twice as hard to adjust to eating TRULY properly later on...this is happening to me.
I'm really into my food, I love cooking, baking AND eating so it's been hard to face the fact that as I'm over 30, and maybe due to being on the pill for a while, my body has changed (cellulite, feeling more chunky around hips and bum, more fat on stomach) and I just can't have so many carbs and treats(unless I give up and accept not having a good body and not caring...can't do it I'm vain)!
My goals are to decrease fat overall, I only really want to lose inches around my waist and get rid of the bloated stomach; I'm always gonna have curvy hips and bum but I want them much firmer and cellulite-free. I want to be defined but with lean looking limbs basically.
I am working on cutting down on sweet stuff(my weakness) and limiting treats(I crave sweets badly after every savoury meal/snack and have to kill that).
I hope to work towards cutting out most grains(not ready to go extreme, maybe never will) but will aim for 2 small servings of grains per day compared to the 4-5 big servings I usually would have.
I aim to do 1-2 weights sessions, 2 outdoor circuit-style sessions and at least 2 Bikram yoga classes per week.
Today I have eaten:
Breakfast: Oats porridge with coconut milk
Lunch No.1: Roast chicken and mixed vegetable salad from Wholefoods
Snack: Sliced apple with DF cream cheese & peanut butter dip
Lunch No.2: Tuna steak with kale, carrot and beetroot, Dark chocolate Coconut pudding(homemade & not too naughty)
Trained earlier:
Single-leg squat/Reverse lunge & Burpees (back-to-back) 4 sets
Glute Kickback/Ball Hamstring curl & Running squat thrust (back-to-back) 4 sets
Core & Stretch
Feel good but hungry again...a small dinner and I'm done.

No I havent, dont buy a lot of fresh herbs because it seems like I never use it all before its bad and Im poor lol.
I buy fresh herbs, wash them and freeze them in bags, then chop off a little when I need it, otherwise yeah, the huge bunch you bought starts rotting in just 2-3 days time in the fridge.

whoa...i hope your caloric intake is more than stated in this post....otherwise you will begin to catabolize muscle, and your fat stores will increase due to lack of fuel for these workouts......i speak of this as a nutritionist....i wanna see more healthy fats and carbs in here :)

couple of questions for you....how does the coconut milk affect your tummy if at all?
what do you mean by grains....if you mean the textbook def, then you do need more than 2 servings....just clean up the choices.
plus you need to be eating 5 to 6 small meals a day.....you can never achieve true perfection if the machine is not properly fueled. every 2-3 hours nothing more than your fist..i.e for a snack...natural pb on an apple....dinner wild salmon greens carbs water...etc:)

I don't have any issues with the coconut milk or oil which I also use, I know some people get a bad tummy if it's not taken on an empty stomach but I rarely do that.
By grains I meant rice, rye, oats, corn, etc. I don't have wheat or white rice anyway but I want to cut down on even the rye bread and brown rice I have, as I think I've been too reliant on those foods and it's a cycle I want to break; craving carbs and feeling sluggish after, even with 'good' carbs, as I would usually have too much.
So just cutting back and getting my body used to feeling what it's like not to be over-full(which I am guilty of as I really enjoy eating delicious food), having oats in the morning and some brown rice at lunch or dinner for example, instead of every meal, and getting carbs from green vegetables otherwise.
Yep I definitely eat enough and often enough, seriously I am not someone who does well on an empty stomach or manages to go through the day feeling hungry, I have to ensure I have decent food close by or theres trouble.

Same here. I have never 'been on a diet' in my life...thinking in those terms just doesn't carry over into properly learning how to consistently maintain a healthy weight/physique.
I am attempting to take the sensible bits from all the conflicting info out there...

I have been trying like a mofo to lose some extra weight, but it seems like no matter what I'll lose about five pounds and gain about six back. :( I get motivated to diet and exercise pretty easily, and it goes well for about a week and then it just goes to shit. I feel like it's really hard for me because my husband likes to have a lot of crappy food in the house (because he's a genetic super freak who doesn't have to watch what he eats!) and if we're watching a movie together and he's eating ice cream, I'm gonna eat it too! lol. Today I just ate like I normally do, I'll get back on the right track tomorrow :)
I travel a lot for work (porn/feature dancing) and I find it really hard to maintain a healthy diet when I'm on the road for five days... Any recommendations for easy FILLING healthy food and snacks?
Thanks!

Hello fellow tall person! (I'm nearly 5'8").
I feel you about eating with the SO - my boyfriend can eat pretty well anything and not gain. It's rather frusterating.
When you travel do you drive, or fly?
Anyway, I lived in a hotel for 6 months at one point, and although I got a microwave and mini-fridge after a while, for the first 2 months I ate whatever was good on the shelf.
Some things that I ate a lot of in that time:
Instant Oatmeal with protein powder added and some dried fruit
Banana's or apples with peanut butter on top
Any kind of fruit (dried or fresh or canned) that can sit out - oranges, rasins, bananas, apples, peaches
Nuts
Meal replacement bars
Powdered milk and dry cereal
Crackers and Tinned Tuna (there's little tins you can buy now that have seasonings already in them - like Lemon Pepper and Sweet Spicy Thai)
Bottled water of course
Packets of crystal light
If you're staying in a hotel room, most rooms have a coffee pot that you can run plain water through and use to make things like oatmeal or cream of wheat in.
If you have access to a microwave you have a lot more options, there's lots of 'instant meals' for sale at the grocery stores now that you can buy ahead of time and pack in your suitcase. Just make sure they don't have too much salt/calories/fats. I think I saw some by Uncle Ben's (in the rice section), also there's lots of different healthy soups available!
I'd reccomend getting a small kitchen kit together that can be packed in your checked suitcase (for flying) or car. Stuff like a plastic bowl, plate, mug and cutlery, as well as some paper towels, tea bags, salt-pepper, can opener and scissors. If you're driving go ahead and buy a cheapie kettle and grocery shop ahead of time and put all your noms in a little box to take into your room with you.

Well if it's only in Vegas I drive since it's such a short drive from LA, but other than that I fly. Luckily for me the club I'm going to on Wednesday is putting me up at an Extended Stay. Thank you for the advice! Glad to meet a fellow amazon woman ;) xo

Well I have had some setbacks! So much for my personal trainer..... I showed up to our first session together 9 minutes late and he had already left! I was only late because I helped these women out with directions, I drove a little out of my way to lead them to where they had to go. I figured he would call me if he was wondering where I was, and I figured he was no punctuality freak and might not even be there yet himself since he was at least ten minutes to our initial meat up where we discussed everything. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, I haven't contacted him since.
I'm a little happy it happened though ever since I had set everything up with him I felt more than a little guilty financially. I justified the expense to myself since I knew I was moving soon and would only be paying for his services for a pretty short period of time but still, seeing him a few times a week for up to two months would have cost me a small fortune.
I've been working out good since then though, I'm still incredibly sore from my last workout, I couldn't even cam yesterday or get in and out of bed easily! If I had know that that was gonna happen I would have taken it a little easier. I'm probably gonna join a gym that offers month by month memberships for my last 1-2 months here. I work out so much harder when I do it in a gym.

Damn I wanna be in on that invite lol
Yesterday was a very good day for me, decision wise. Pushed myself at the gym for an hour, first weights then cardio. But it was getting to be rush hour and sooo many people came in, stood around waiting for equipment and gave me the evil eye. I jumped off my elliptical to get some water and even though my towel and little bag were still on it they attacked like vultures so I just left lol. Food-wise I am getting to be a better cook. I made asparagus and baked chicken for lunch and later had tuna salad concoction..was weird but filling and pretty good.
Also I bought some greek yogurt, heard it has a lot of protein and I dont really eat meat everyday. Does anybody else use greek yogurt and how? It tasted like sour cream to me bleck

^I'm not huge on greek yogurt on it's own.
If I'm eating it it's usually got some strawberries blended in and I'm pretending it's ice cream.

If you came to Dallas you could train with me or Kavi *hint hint*
I know!!! I was even thinking about moving to Dallas so I would have constant work out partners lol. If only I could stand Dallas! :-X

Mmmm I love sour cream...sometimes I get/make Mexican food just so I can have something to put sour cream on.
My life needs more sour cream.
I'm glad you said it, becasue I didn't want to have to be the first one to.
I LOVE sour cream. And saying something tastes like sour cream only adds another incentive to the 'Eat this" list.
