I use the glycemic index diet and overlap it with my own dietary restrictions. I started out to help a pre-existing health problem and have nothing but good things to say about it. Ontop of not being able to eat high g.i. foods I also can't eat: any dairy, any red meat, any stomach irritants (cabbage, broccoli, brussle sprouts), anything high in fat (coconut, avocado, fried foods), most grains, lentils... the list goes on and on.
I get by mostly eating chicken stir-fry, oatmeal pancakes with raspberries, sweet potatoes with green onions and olive oil s&p, Lebanese food, Indian food, Chinese food. It's hard but it's worth it since my body doesn't spazz out every chance it gets.
tonight my boyfriend is getting us Lebanese. Yummmmmm.

I am disgusted with myself. I messed up today for no real reason, have been feeling low but that's just an excuse anyway...cheese, chocolate, ice-cream, biscuits.
My willpower used to be so much better than this...the worst thing is I didn't even REALLY want that crap I somehow talked myself INTO having it, maybe as I had lots of free time today.
Seriously back on eating clean tomorrow. And going to Bikram (it will take a few days to get rid of the toxins from all that junk I ate anyway)...yuck.

^^^Been there so many times! 98% of the time when I eat shit, a few bites into it I'm like.....'Eeeew gross, this shit tastes like plastic, why did I do it????' And the thing is, I'll still do it again and again and again KNOWING I will regret it! IMO, that's when you know that it is beyond you, that's when you know that your body is physically addicted.
..............
I'm kind of fed up with all the little 'tricks' for eating healthy.... I feel like, you can't fool yourself. You just can't. You have to just decide 'I don't want to live like this' and work at it constantly. And if you're an addict like me you're probably gonna have to work at it for the rest of your life.

Yeah it's true. I am definitely addicted to sugar. I was starting to get close to that point where you stop wanting it as I had done well and cut down for 5-6 days, thats why I'm annoyed about today.
Punishment tomorrow = kale and celery juice, Bikram class and having to restart and fight the sugar cravings over again.

^^^Doesn't it seem like it gets harder to quit each time you start over? It always feels like that for me.
I did good today too. Been drinking my disgusting green shakes, lately they have been consisting of kale, brussel sprouts, cod liver oil, a little apple cider vinegar, a little coconut oil and berries.
Tomorrow I think I am gonna make a big fruit salad and a pot of chicken vindaloo. And a disgusting shake.
I made turkey meatballs with spaghetti sauce today! I lb. of ground turkey breast, 1T of ground, dried Italian herbs, 1/2t of curry powder, one egg, dash of ground black pepper, dash of salt, dash of hot sauce. Form into balls and bake at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes. Simmer with pasta sauce in a saucepan when done baking. Delicious!

I totally look at that as a reward! I love how I feel when I am drinking my green juices and working out consistently! Just think, you are pouring straight, pure nutrients into your body that are absorbing quickly into your bloodstream and neutralizing free radicals. I can almost feel any wrinkles or aging reversing when I'm on my routine with the juicing vegetables!

^^^Omg LOL I kind of do the same thing. As I'm gulping down the nastiness I pretend that I'm gulping down a youth elixir and I even visualize it going into my body and reversing aging. I also feel really good about myself when I am eating healthy, and I get so giddy when I open up my fridge and it has nothing but healthy stuff in it.

I'm confident a good number of people are addicted to sugar. It's so much more than a emotional dependency. That's just chemicals in your brain anyway! I've ordered heaps of "candida clear" products that came in the mail, and as far as I've read after a few days on these pills any legitimate sugar or bread cravings are non-existent.
I know it's tough, but healthy eating is a reward! Heal yourself with good things.

there's actually a book about how addictive sugar is. It's called Sugar Blues (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Blues). I also found an excerpt of it if you guys want to read it (http://www.quantumbalancing.com/news/sugar_blues.htm)

I don't get how people pretend you can just trick or teach yourself into liking shit that just tastes vile to you.
For me it's brown rice. To me it is the most vile, disgusting thing I've ever eaten... and every time I mention eating rice someone tells me how I should switch to it and that you don't even notice the difference. LOL
I don't have a problem giving up foods (when they aren't in my house, anyway. My problem is that I live with a junk food ADDICT!)... but I certainly can't fool the way other people say you can.

Try eating actual whole grain rice! I can do brown rice no problem, but I never got used to whole grain rice. Very nutty-tasting and chewy and doesn't absorb the other flavors of whatever it was cooked with.
I have been marinating tandoori drumsticks overnight, I can't wait to try them they smell so good!! ;D

^ Yeah I keep a food diary most of the time...but I scrap it and start again after very bad days! It does help a bit to be able to look over what you have consumed in a list form, I'm not into weighing my food or anything like that so the diary helps to show up when I've eaten too much of the wrong stuff over a week.
So I ate well yesterday, and I didn't even have to fight too hard to do it(I believe yoga helps reset things internally and I'm becoming more balanced)...I had dinner, then as always started thinking about what sweets to have before realising I was doing it out of habit but actually didn't really want any.
I am also stopping the stupid Yasmin pill. I'm sure it's one of the main culprits in the tragic case of my cellulite. I hate taking synthetic anything but have had endometriosis for quite a while, have found it hard to get help from my doctor and the pill is the only thing that stops the pains...but I'm going to make the extra effort to try and deal with it naturally.
Am making DF ice-cream later today, so there will be a good option for me to have over the weekend for a treat.

^When I was a kid there was a park behind our house LINED with blackberries.
They were so amazing... and no store bought blackberries (even ones from markets with epic fruits) even come close.
It's so lame. Hey. There's an idea. Maybe I'll look into growing my own. /drool

lately I've had a meatloaf fetish. Been throwing ground meat with random ingredients together and baking it. Tonight I had 1/2 lb. buffalo and 1/2 lb. organic 90% lean ground beef with mushrooms, two organic eggs, a chopped vidalia onion, salt, pepper, chopped garlic clove, formed into a loaf and glazed with organic ketchup, baked for an hour and a half at 350 degrees. That was just dinner though....
For breakfast, two scrambled eggs with a diced organic tomato. For lunch, half a head of organic romaine chopped with organic non dairy/non soy gluten free caesar dressing, a grilled chicken breast, and some quartered artichoke hearts. Had a protein shake (Dymatize whey isolate) for a snack, needed to get my chocolate fix. 3 liters of water today as well....
Skipped the workout because I am STILL sore from a pushing myself too hard on Saturday.... back at it tomorrow though! Changed it up a little, running four miles per day, cut back on the weights, integrated Pilates and Yoga (for the first time in my life!)
do you purchase all the organic foods just to be clear of pesticides? i only buy a couple of things...like meat, so that its free of hormones. certain produce..the rest i work on myself. if i was working i would probably purchase more organic stuff. it doubles my grocery bill when i go all out..;)kudos to you for being aware of clean foods period. usually...most ppl feel clean is a ref to washed foods.....not foods closest to nature ;))))))

What the hell is in that stuff then?

Naw. If I were doing that I would've said something ABOUT meat.
Like. Made not deer eating it because some people hand-feed deer processed breads so mine may not have been chemical free or something. ;P
I was making fun of the idea that people, in general, assume if it has the word 'organic' that it means it's somehow a superior product without looking further into it than that.
I eat organic because I want my shit to be organic so I can use it as fertilizer for my organic garden.

^Moons over my Hammy?
I used to order that as a kid just becasue I liked the name.
Then I got irritated when I would realize - time and time again - it's just a gorified ham sandwich.
So I'd stick to sipping my orange juice, glaring at the offending dish in a very bitter manner.
Anyway, scale says I've lost mucho-weight, but it wasn't the 'healthy way', so I'll probably gain it right back in a week or too. *sigh*

I think you might find eating lean meat and veggies instead of fruit for dinner will be better for your general health and weight loss. Fruit is essentially sugar. Its nice to have a little fruit, but only fruit for supper might be counter-productive.

Ffs, I usually nip to the sink in the dressing room to switch champagne with apple juice and water. I did that with a whole bottle of veuve clicquot last night, which I like, then got stuck at a table of wine and club regulars so I couldn't excuse myself. I drank nearly a bottle of wine, then got stuck into the pizza my boss bought us. Goddammit. I allow myself extra booze calories, but I went overboard last night. It didn't help that it was a sit and drink night, with not much dancing.
